LadyG that is excellent news! More champagne.

Orchid Good news on the fab MW appointment. Very surprised at the water birth not being that common.

owlbooty · 13/04/2011 15:39

Whoop whoop whoop!

Ace news G :)

I think it is probably true that most people don't want a water birth. We used to have a shiny new lovely pool in the room opposite the MW's desk on my ward and it was almost always empty. I wonder if the thought of the sieve puts people off?

Scorpette · 13/04/2011 16:03

HUZZAH for house sale, GG! Bloody chuffed for you Grin

Orcs, when I went for a tour round the birthing unit at t'other hossie (as I had to do a special birth plan), the MW I saw then told me that not many people bother with it. Reasons being: people not realising it exists, people thinking it's too woo and/or won't offer enough pain relief, teen/younger mums being funny about anything 'different' (you know how there's a massive teen mum ishoo in our fair county, speshly round my way), etc. More fool them - I'm bulk-buying Matey bubble bath Wink

When I did my big shop avec parents and Aunt at JL, we got an assistant on her first day. The department manager stepped in to help, which was fab, but the newbie was left alone to process the huge order, which was stoopid, as she couldn't do it and we had to leave and my Aunt pay over the phone 2 days later! Also, they STILL haven't sent me the delivery details, time, etc., despite me chasing them.

My Granddad ran the children & baby department of a classy store and I couldn't help thinking what a dim view he'd've taken of it all... and I also wished he could've been there with us, as he would've been in hog heaven

PS GG, that store was in our home town. He was also Santa for many years running there, well into the 1980s, so ir's entirely possible you met him (or even me!).

Ivegotmrbitey · 13/04/2011 16:44

Fantastic news geegee champagne for everyone!

LadyGoneGaga · 13/04/2011 16:54

REALLY, Score!!! Very excited. I probably sat on your Granddad's knee as a little 'un!!! My mum loved the childrens wear bit in there (had a thing for dressing me up in Pollyanna Pickering smocks despite me being a tomboy), was mates with one of the staff so we used to call in every time we went to town.

macaroonmum · 13/04/2011 16:58

Fantastic news GG! Smile

Scorps don't forget your loofa.

cakeandcava · 13/04/2011 17:13

Erm, hello all! Blush

I have been sent in this direction by the mighty Ponee from over on BESH... I'd settled in there quite nicely looking forward to having some ranting space for my upcoming dates with the IVF needles crew in May.

However, the time of miracles appears to not be over, and I find myself apparently diffed. Through regular sexual intercourse. How very common Hmm

So yes, hi all. Can I join your club? I'm reasonably well housetrained...

LadyGoneGaga · 13/04/2011 19:34

Sexual intercourse, hey? How very distasteful . I haven't bothered since the conception. Poor MrG. But welcome! Lovely to have fresh meat . I'm LadyG and 25 weeks up duffed. Have one little boy who is 3 and then had one who sadly fell out of my womble.

Thanks for all the Champers ladies Got to make our minds up where to buy. Think have got it down to two...

Muser · 13/04/2011 19:35

An ironidiff! We love an ironidiff here. Welcome, I trust you bring cake and cava with you?

Medee · 13/04/2011 19:43

Ivegotmrbitey · 13/04/2011 21:30

Muser · 13/04/2011 21:54

Best news all day Medee, welcome home!

Scorpette · 13/04/2011 22:06

Medee, that news has made my bloody week! SO happy for little Family Meds - it must feel like heaven Grin I raise a metaphorical Wine to you all and send EA lots of snuffles! XXXX

Welcome Cakey - I too won an ironidiff; got turned down for IVF by Evil Lying Doctor Bitch (told me our PCT age cut-off was 35 and it's not) and me and TYF had hysterical tearful 'we might never have a child but at least we have each other' secks that same night to console ourselves. 2 weeks and one piss-stick later... Grin

macaroonmum · 14/04/2011 07:30

bunsandbooze I bow down to your ironidiffment. Hurrah!

Medee Wonderful news! I'm surprised you didn't finish off the whole bottle of champers after what you've been through.

Scorps that made me all mushy Smile

laurielou · 14/04/2011 08:08

Meds that's wonderful news! Absolutely bloody wonderful. I hope you had an easy-ish first night. Ah, who cares if it was easy, you were all together at home.

Cake congratulations & welcome! All diffs are fab, but an ironidiff we luffs all the more.

cincotart · 14/04/2011 08:23

Medee that is fantastic news, so pleased you're all home and can now enjoy getting to know each other :)

Now I'm going to have a moan......it may not be meant in any way to cause upset but all this talk of how an ironidiff is the best thing since sliced bread actually hurts those who didn't manage to get pregnant on their own, or are still trying and going through the hell of fertility treatment. Now you may say who on earth does Cinco think she is coming back, barely saying two words and spouting off but I just had to say something.

Of course I'm thrilled for any diff, big congratulations bubblysponge, and it is bloody fantastic when you've been trying forever and it happens for you before you have to go down the AC road. Just asking Eshes to spare a thought for the feelings of those where that hasn't happened. That is all.

laurielou · 14/04/2011 09:22

Sorry for any offence, truly unintended. I'm just a cynical old tart who likes a bit of irony. I only dipped a toe in the AC route & that was tough enough, so can only begin to imagine the journey that the full AC route involves.

Again, apologies.

Muser · 14/04/2011 09:31

We love an IVF diff too cinco. The diff I cried the most over was the lovely extremelygorgeous's OMGTwinz assisted diff. It's just there's a bit of a tradition of BESH becoming updiffed after they've been told there isn't a chance. And sometimes when they've been turned down for IVF. Sorry if it upsets you, it's not meant to. We love all duffs.

owlbooty · 14/04/2011 09:43

Meds Hoorah, so very glad you've got her home. Hope you are enjoying a well deserved snuffle Grin

We do indeed LOVE an IVF diff - one of the ladies on the other fred I frequent also got an OMGTWINZ IVF and there was mucho dancing and grinning in my office when she announced it - I suspect my work colleagues think I am disturbed.

AlpinePony · 14/04/2011 09:52

Fantastic news medee! Really wonderful. :) I hope it's not too overwheming - but at least you'll get decent coffee!

A RL friend of mine was told "there's not a snowball's chance in hell" of ever getting a natural diff and she wasn't needles-eligible because she's i) old, ii) fat, iii) had children a million years ago and iv) her husband is practically a pensioner. At the age of 38 she fell on a penis and dropped the butterdish, and then managed to do the same again within months of giving birth. So yes, it's always fucking fantastic to be able to stick two fingers up at medical authorities and it bears no ill will towards the AC baybees.

cakeandcava · 14/04/2011 09:55

Thank you everyone for your nice welcomes :)

Medee we haven't met but I've been reading back a bit about what you've been going through and I'm so happy that you are home and all seems well. Congratulations!

Kate 'tis indeed a new world of menkul -wasn't quite prepared for how it just continues like that...

Scorps that is really very sweet!

cincotart Congratulations on your pregnancy! And I'm really sorry that you're feeling upset. I think I understand a little of where you're coming from (although nowhere near what it's actually like). I had gotten very far down the AC route, was basically at the 'call us when your period starts so we can do the baseline scan and start your injections' stage. I've been pissed off and scared a lot, and now that it's actually happened I somehow feel like I've cheated.

From what I understand of the ESHes, having not been here that long, it's all about celebrating when someone who has had a rough time finally gets there. Going through the whole IVF route and coming out successful on the other side really merits the biggest celebration of them all!
