Wahey! This is exciting - a whole new thread to clog up Grin

Fraochsmum · 07/03/2011 20:46

Hello! Thanks for the new thread - glad there are some more technically-minded than myself here!
Keeping everything crossed for you confuddled xxx
highheels I haven't had anything like that at all I'm afraid. This one does feel quite different though, I didn't feel anything proper till last week but really is pretty strong and a bit like a dishwasher inside.
Absolutely knackered now so going to hit the hay. Accupunture tomorrow then mat app after - I'm assuming the hospital I got my anomaly scan will send a report/measurements to my local unit?
G'night all x

Eglu · 07/03/2011 20:55

Thanks confuddled for the new thread. :)

cara2244 · 07/03/2011 20:57

Oooh a new thread, our third one now! Feels like we are getting there.

Twit · 07/03/2011 21:16

Golly confuddled, I hope you're both ok, I'll be sending positive vibes your way.

I am now officially on a high fibre diet.

I feel like I've got a trapped nerve on the one side of my pelvis now. I also need a belly belt but don't know where or what.

I had my first braxton hicks this afternoon. They can take my breathe away and usually make me a bit red faced.

buttonmoon78 · 07/03/2011 21:31

What's the belly belt for Twit? Is it for SPD?

emmywoo · 07/03/2011 21:50

Hi all
I have my 20wks scan tomorrow, am so excited but very nervous at the same time. Have a tiny bit of movement (I think) but not every day, think it is due to being quite well padded round the middle already!!
Hubby has put his foot down and said we are not finding out the sex of this one as we found out with our daughter as he wants a surprise, 1st time he has ever put his foot down to anything so I really need to respect that but miffed as really wanted to know!
I think I have my SPD back so have sympathy to you all who are also going through it.
twit - how can you tell you having braxton hicks, what are they like
confuddled - sending you big hugs
xxx

confuddledDOTcom · 07/03/2011 22:55

Thanks everyone. It's silly really, I know they're just BH but I have to keep a check on them because one day they might not be and with my history that could be from the end of next week onwards. They're not so bad at the moment so hopefully they'll leave me alone for a bit.

Glad to have a new thread, my mobile crashes every time I try to open the old one!

Twit, speak to your GP sometimes they prescribe them, if not try your CMW or ask at the hospital and they might refer you to their obstetric physio. If not I'll dig out the website. Don't get bump bands like you can get from Mothercare etc because they're not support belts and won't help.

emmy, you'll know when you have BH! It's like normal contractions but not quite so intense and painful but it will take your breath away and make you have to stop. My dad has been able to see when I'm having them because my bump has gone so hard.

I've got the underdress to the dress for my birthday meal almost finished today, the collar is on and the neck elasticated. Just need to close up the neck now and chuck it at Dad for the hand sewing and grommets - I'm trained in soft furnishing, pattern cutting and fashion design but all my hand sewing gets thrown at Dad! The overdress is scaring me, I need to alter the pattern for the bodice front and skirt front to make it fit. None stretch fabric and princess seams. I'm mad!

Am sitting here sobbing my heart out at OBEM. And I've finally had that 'oh shit, I've just remembered I've got to do that again' moment. I knew it was coming but it's a surprise every time!

My support belt is from Serola Biomechanics (www.serola.com). It was fitted by my physio and I would not recommend getting one without seeing a specialist as it's a full on sacroiliac belt so depending upon your pelvic alignment it could do more harm than good. It was particularly good for me as you do it up as tight as you can and then use the two side tabs to hoick it in even tighter.

I've not used it yet in this pg and am hoping not to!

Emmy BH are tightenings of your womb. I know some people who never even notice them but they generally start earlier and get more noticable with each baby. Good luck with the scan tomorrow! Perhaps your sonographer will let it slip by mistake Wink

emmywoo · 08/03/2011 08:34

Morning,
I definatley dont think I had any BH with dd but know of people who have and have heard not nice.
Cant believe I have scan today, it seems like ages since we last saw "button" so looking forward to it. We are taking dd who is 4 and she is so excited and wanted to know if the baby will wave at her!!
xxxx

inbetweener · 08/03/2011 09:16

Morning all,
Lovely episode of OBEM last night wasnt it, lots of scary c-secs !!

emmywoo good luck at your scan. Bless your DH not wanting to know. Mine DOES want to know. He said he needs to know before hand in case he pulls the " wrong face " at the birth !!!!!!!!!!!!! Hmm I have asked him what he means by that as in my opinion it means he clearly has a preference ( for a ds I think ) but he swears he hasnt and wont elaborate. Tsk men !

All ok here I think. Ive taken a sicky from work today Blush. I know its naughty but DH is sanding the and papering the hall, landing and stairs and he doesnt know how to clean properly, plus im worried he will pick the wrong wallpaper so I have to be here to supervise.....ahem...control freak....me Shock

bumpwise im 20+5 today Grin
Feeling teeny little pokes down below when im sitting upright and squashing my bump so thats reasurring. Its not every day or all day but enough to stop me rushing to the hospital lol. I guess the low lying placenta is still there ? I dunno. Will find out on monday at the scan !!!!! Which is also DD's birthday. She said finding out was the best present ever...awwwwww.

Right off for a bit of toast before a trip to Homebase to get the right my choice wallpaper.

Twit · 08/03/2011 09:50

confuddled they aren't 'just' BH for you though so (and I think you will) take care

Yep normally harmless, some of mine are just a feeling of being a bit tight, other times they do make me stop, breathe and go red!

I wasn't meaning those big stretchy belts no, I want help with my SPD but also help holding my stomach up. Yes, I am that big already Grin
(I carry at the front so...)

Good luck with any scans today - a couple of mine 'waved', this one opened and closed (his) mouth like a fish.

notnearlyasblondasiwas · 08/03/2011 13:28

Hi everyone, am back from my NZ trip, turned out to be a little more eventful that we had imagined what with the earthquake etc, but thankfully we are all fine as are DH's family and homes and our friends in CHCH, we all got off quite lightly compared to some poor souls.

Am dying with jetlag and poor little DD can't get back into the UK timezone at all, has been a tough couple of nights of no sleep so far with more to come.

Congratulations to all those who have had their scans and know what flavour they are getting.

Had my scan this morning and we decided not to find out again, I like the element of suprise and also suspect that DH wants a boy really badly, so don't want him disappointed if it is another little girly, he won't care once I have given birth! Everything looked good on the scan and I am now officially excited! Just booked my maternity leave from work, last day in the office will be 10 June (YAY!)

Am 22 weeks tomorrow and a getting the most massive kicks and pokes, much more violent that last time, this little one seems to be on the move all constantly.

Am loving the spring sunshine, can't wait for July now!

confuddledDOTcom · 08/03/2011 13:46

It has the potential to not be just BH, but it's the balance on that. When I decide I've had enough of them and go in. They went on for a few hours yesterday but they weren't like waves like contractions, just constantly hard then occasionally it'd get intense. Been OK today, had a little one when nursing my youngest earlier but not too bad. Been giving the OH grief about coming home.

OP posts:
cara2244 · 08/03/2011 16:11

confuddledDOTcom keeping everything crossed for you that your baby will hang on for as long as possible! How many weeks are you now?

inbetweener my OH wanted to know too (I didn't) so we found out....he was visibly disappointed to find out it is a girl! I think he feels like he knows what he's doing with boys as we already have one/he thinks he has more in common with boys. I'm just glad the gender balanace in the house will finally tip back to my side :)

I've now tried to ring the hosital physio 5 times this morning and 5 times yesterday morning. NO luck. It's either engaged or just rings and rings. You have to ring between 9-9.30 so I can only call on my days off work. Maybe it's their way of making sure only the desparate get through? The back/hip is improving a bit; I think more a result of me finding better ways of dealing with it.

Does anyone have experience of chiropractors to help with pelvic pain? There is one locally and I was considering it if the physio doesn't help....or if I never manage to get through! But it's expensive. Does anyone else feel like they're spending a fortune on pregnancy gear? Possibly my fault for selling everything last time lol.

cara2244 · 08/03/2011 16:13

Twit I thought I was still fairly little looking, but 2 people I know from dog walking asked me this week if I'm pregnant. And I was wearing a big coat. So I guess I am beyond that 'fat' looking stage at last!

buttonmoon78 · 08/03/2011 16:34

I got asked whilst shopping a couple of weeks ago Cara. Mind you, it was by some dodgy fella! I was still in the stage where I wouldn't dare ask just in case someone's either fat or just apple shaped! Beginning to feel like a proper bump now, all tight and firm. Not like my normal belly Blush

I hope your OH comes home soon confuddled. If good wishes do anything then I reckon the vibes on this website have got to be doing you some good!

After all my good feeling that my back and pelvis were holding out longer than last time I'm not feeling so confident today. I've had a lot of grinding from my lower back today and although I'm trying to tell myself the pain is no more than normal I'm not so sure really. I'm trying to believe that I've overdone things and it'll get better but I haven't and I don't really believe it Sad

On the upside, if I have to start wearing my belt again at least it will be the end of any downwardly mobile trousers I have Grin

9 days til my scan. I can't wait!

inbetweener · 08/03/2011 16:43

6 days till mine !!!Grin

buttonmoon78 · 08/03/2011 17:17

MissLolita · 08/03/2011 17:41

Hi ladies, lovely to be on a new thread!

The BH sound pretty scary!

I watched OBEM last night and cried my eyes out - the c-sections weren't as scary as I thought they would be though...a bit scary but not slasher movie scary!

I had a weird realisation moment today. I saw a girl in the office who I don't see very often and because we hadn't seen each other for a while neither of us had realised the other one was pg. We did the excited chat and she asked when I was due and then said she wasn't due until 14th August and she said "ages after you!" - I know it sounds silly but I suddenly felt really panicky! It's the first time I've encountered someone in real life who is due after me - I am still very much at the stage that 'the baby' is merely an abstract concept and a very long, long way away...

I had thought I was looking quite pregnant but this morning getting onto the train I was almost trampled under foot by a middle aged man rushing to grab the last seat and then I couldn't be bothered to make a big fuss so i ended up standing the entire 55 minute train journey to the office. I know I could have said something but I just couldn't bring myself to.

My train line has a policy where you can apply for an exemption pass to allow you to sit in first class (if there are no other seats available) if you have a MATB1 or a midwife letter. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow so I am going to ask then. Has anyone else got their MATB1 yet? Is it issued by the midwife or sent automatically?

inbetweener · 08/03/2011 18:06

lol Sorry button I just cant wait !! Grin

miss lolita I didnt know trains do that ! I must look into that for work myself ! I wouldnt have said anything either to be honest. Im still walking round with my coat buttoned up so I expect people just think im a bit lardy and could do with the exercise lol.
I think the MW gives you the MATB1 form but I cant remener to be honest ! Crikey Im going to gace to discuss maternity leave dates and options with the boss soon eeeeek ! Its all getting a bit real Grin

My work has the opportunity to ask you to do up to ten " keeping in touch days " where you have to go in. We are moving buildings in Septmber so I think she thinks im going to be working a few days to organise my team but my EDD is not till the 21st so potentially baby could only be about 6-7 weks old and frankly I dont want to go in till at least after the new year ! Hmmmm should be an intersting conversation !

inbetweener · 08/03/2011 18:07

sorry that was meant to read Im going to HAVE to discuss maternity leave dates....

typing too quick. Blush

emmywoo · 08/03/2011 19:05

Hi All,
Well had scan today and it was amazing. I was very good and didnt ask what sex so Hubby was very proud of me. She said everything was the right size and in right place and that baby is at top of the scale so to expect a big baby, hubby said that the look on my face when she said that was a picture!!!
xx

squirrel007 · 08/03/2011 19:20

Hi everyone :) it's nice to see a new thread, and also to hear about everyone's scans!

I am 22 weeks tomorrow too, and have decided to go on maternity leave from 19th June - only 15 weeks at work to go! Minus 2 weeks for easter and bank holidays :) Been feeling baby move a bit too, but it's still quite erratic. Sometimes I can go a day or two without really noticing anything. I think I can miss it if I'm preoccupied at work or doing something else.

I've also found another advantage of being pg - no more having to hold your belly in after eating too much! Went out for a huge meal with DH and his colleagues recently, and it's so much better with a pg belly Grin Bump has changed from being a bit flabby to a proper hard pg bump too, which I like a lot better. I can wear closer fitting clothes and show off the bump, rather than just looking podgy.

Am still quite tired though, and waiting for this mythical second trimester bloom that's supposed to happen!

scarthy1975 · 08/03/2011 19:21

Hi all,

Good to hear all the scans are going well.

confuddled keeping everything crossed for you - btw i'm TS for the facebook page - did message you but not sure if you got it.

notnearly my bump is constantly letting me know that they are wide awake and moving lots - gets eyewatering when he/she presses on my bladder lol

Had some brown discharge today Blush too much info I know. Is this common? Can't remember having it last time?
