Hi all,

confuddled not had sex for a few days - dh job is done Wink Had more today but baby is very much wriggling around so not too worried.

Is anyone watching 23 week babies tonight - only found out when dh told me not to watch it and now for some stupid reason I feel compelled to - I will be 23 weeks on Sunday! It does say 'some upsetting scenes'

Eglu · 09/03/2011 19:46

Scarthy not sure about watching that, I'm usually one of those people who feels compelled to do these things too. I did watch 19 kids and counting last week and it was when Michelle Duggar had her 19th child at 24 weeks, I was looking at DH saying that was only a week away from where we are. Quite bizarre really.

nicolamumof3 · 09/03/2011 20:04

evening all.

orchid in answer to your question, we very stupidly threw out ds2's mattress and bought new for ds3 it has a removable washable cover and in addition i cover it with a mattress protector so quite happy to use for baby no.4.

how is everyone getting on with names??

i still have the pain high up in my bump sure its not indigestion. Bump feels alot firmer too.

emmywoo · 09/03/2011 20:36

Hi all,
Well, i got hubby to go in loft and get everything down today as had scan y'day and everything fine so couldnt wait any longer. If we have another girl we are literally sorted in regards to clothes etc. We had the day off today as DH dad had a major op so neither of us wanted to go into work as wanted to get to hosptial as soon as he was back on ward so we did some shopping today and bought some babygro's etc in neutral colours and it really freaked me out, I still dont think it has sunk in yet that I am pregnant again!!!!!
I have started to have what I think is movement, but only ever so slightly. It feels as tho someone is flicking me from the inside if that makes sense.
I think i am getting my SPD back again as it aches to walk, turn over in bed etc.
xxxxx

Twit · 09/03/2011 20:36

I keep missing the latest Duggar installments, where are they?. Golly to think that next week... it doesn't bear thinking about Shock
I shan't watch, it will be too close IYSWIM?
(I don't watch One born every minute because I refuse to take my head out of the sand as far as the birth is concerned right now.)

Might it be your ribs expanding Nicola ? Or just good old fashioned indegestion?

Eglu · 09/03/2011 20:42

Duggars new series is on Home and Health on Friday nights at 9pm.

JimmyChoo17 · 09/03/2011 21:40

scarthy i have just stumbled across this programme on BBC and wish I hadn't!!! What a thing to go thru.

JimmyChoo17 · 09/03/2011 21:47

twitglad it's not just me ignoring the inevitable birth bit Grin

scarthy1975 · 09/03/2011 22:05

jimmychoo I did watch it in the end and it has certainly left me with very red eyes! Those poor babies and parents.

cara2244 · 09/03/2011 22:08

I have bought nothing yet!! I am excited about the prospect of a carry cot on my buggy. I daren't go near any shops that sell babyclothes with my credit card in my purse.

Sues are you a teacher? You sound like me, I am counting the terms left in blocks.

Buttonmoon yeah that's the one. LIttle changes have made a difference. STill hurts tho.

I had a good pregnancy moan with a friend today who is due next month. So nice to talk to someone who understands!

cara2244 · 09/03/2011 22:15

Twit, I avoid all birth related tv too! It worked last time. I will have lucky socks next.

Eglu I had the craziest nesting instinct with my LO and spent hours cleaning the bathrooms the week he was born. I convinced myself at the time that it wasn't nesting...hmmm.... I was glad I had tho when I had a home birth. I really hope I can have another one but this pelvic pain may cause a problem if it keeps getting worse. I know i need to not be too obsessed about having a home birth...but It's hard as it was such a happy experience. But I guess this one will be too, as long as the baby is ok, no matter what the place or method of birth.

Want2bSupermum · 09/03/2011 23:27

cara - I also have a bad back. Chiro is starting to work well. I go twice a week. My obn suggested the chiro rather than physio as I can't do too many exercises physio wise. I am also lucky that my chiro is also a physio and her specialty is pregnancy back pain (probably why my obn referred her to me). If your midwife can't refer you get hold your GP and see what they can do.

Another thing, my chiro has given me a couple of exercises, one includes using a foam tube which is very effective at loosening my lower back muscles which are causing my pelvis to rotate. Love the foam thing.

I am also living in denial regarding delivery. I can't think of anything worse. The local radio station was discussing 'Things you wish you could pay for' and my first thought was if I had the money I would LOVE to pay someone to deliver our child!

With regards to buying things I have not had time. I bought a crib online from JC Penny which was half price. Still no news from it being ready for pick up from the store but we don't need it yet. I did my registry at a store which prides itself on being able to deliver anything within 24 hours. This is my master list, to be used if I go into labour before my baby shower. Amazon and babies'r'us is much cheaper and babies'r'us has already started sending me coupons. I changed my mind on the pram. I was going to go for the uppa but wasn't impressed with the basket only being able to hold 5lbs. I went with the citiselect instead (babyjogger or something like that). It is cheap and I found it easier to fold.

Want2bSupermum · 09/03/2011 23:28

doh - cheaper not cheap. I wish the pram was cheap!

inbetweener · 10/03/2011 10:54

Morning all,

I also avoided that programme last night but I did Sky Plus it so might watch it when I have passed that stage.
Im 21 weeks today whooo !! Grin and feeling lots of thumps now when I am at my desk at work and on the bus !! Not feeling too much else anywhere else as I think the placenta is still in the wrong place. I have had some slight pale pink bleeding as well so Im fairly sure that at the scan on monday they will confirm I still have a low lying placenta.

I slept well last night which was good. I went to bed at 11pm and DD1 woke me at 7:30 !! DH slept on the sofa as he said I was snoring really deeply and he didnt want to wake me. Although I feel a little guilty he slept on the sofa I still enjoyed the uninterupted sleep !

Right better do some work I spose.

Badgerwife · 10/03/2011 17:49

Hello! I'm with cara on avoiding birth-related programmes. With everyone talking about One Born Every Minute, I've watched it a couple of times, and it has really freaked me out about the Pain To Come.

Had the scan today and phew, all is well with the baby. We also found out we're having a little girl!!! I'm now properly excited. For some reason, this is what has really brought it home to me; I love that I can now say "she", I absolutely hated calling the baby "it" for so long, it's so impersonal!
DH made me laugh though; we were given lots of boy clothes by a VERY generous friend of his (and also a moses basket, a bouncy seat and lots more, I was amazed) and all he can think about now is that she is going to be crushed we won't be able to use them...

Scottygirl10 · 10/03/2011 19:00

Congrats on the baby girl badger! Sorry for not posting about other peoples posts but have just read through the thread and forgotten everything already! Was very impressed with myself today, handled a stressful and unexpected situation at work, articulated eloquently and succinctly all going well...then drove the wrong way up a one way street on way home! Ah well the clarity was nice while it lasted! Re: names, I like James (the hubbends name) however he likes Zachary. Problem is we have a cat called Zach??!! Not sure wot that would do to the wee ones esteem when he realises he was named after a cat! Lol x

Scottygirl10 · 10/03/2011 19:02

Oh and we bought our pram, a bebecar stylo 3 in one, with an ip op chassis. Navy blue, love it :)

Fraochsmum · 10/03/2011 20:23

Lovely news badger!
Don't worry about it Scotty - our DD has the same name as my mums dog, who happened to both be staying with us when she was born, but we just liked the name ;) Well done on the work thang btw, wish I could get some clarity at much less important things!
I have requested my mat leave from the 18th July. I'm due on the 17th but; have 2 1/2 weeks AL to take beforehand, only do 2 1/2 days a week, it's an office job, and DD was almost bang on time so could be lucky again!
I got my crib from my sister and bought a new mattress, and probably wont bother with a new one for the moses basket and crib, but will def get a new one for the cot.
I don't have any pain high up but yesterday I got a v v sore pubic bone - even a constant ache when sitting down. Still hurts today although has eased somewhat - anyone else?
I was with you girls first time round and totally avoided watching the birth programmes, which I'm glad I did as it would have really freaked me out. Having gone through it now and realising it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, I'm quite happy to see them. Obviously I'm hoping for exactly the same again Wink
A girl in our town had a 28-weeker the other day due to pre-eclampsia, but all seems to be going well so far. I also saw my colleague's great niece on her phone a couple of weeks ago - born at 21 weeks!! Unfortunately her twin didn't make it but she is now 10 months old and apart from 24/7 oxygen and hearing aids is making great progress.
Right I must go to bed soon - up early to go to Glasgow for a Levellers concert, mind you I might spend the whole time looking for a seat Blush. And DH has promised to brush my hair - bliss!

nicolamumof3 · 10/03/2011 20:33

evening all dh and i had a lovely pamper this afternoon, we bought each other vouchers for xmas! Finally got to use them so feeling very chilled.

Starting to seriously panic that sex of baby may be wrong, wondering if i have been hasty in offloading alot of my boys stuff and buying pink. Im such a panicker tho!!

4d scan booked for next month really looking forward to that.

cara2244 · 10/03/2011 20:55

Badgerwife congrats on the scan. Lots of us on here seem to be having girls.

Inbetweener that's good news about the movement. Reassuring! I am getting more flutters now. Including the weird one that I think is on the cervix, and feels like someone is taking a smear test but from the other side. Hmmm...

Got given a pair of booties today by a work colleague. SHe knitted them herself and they are so cute. It's the first thing I have for this baby and they are in pride of place next to my make up! It is starting to feel real now.

nicolamumof3 · 10/03/2011 21:32

thats lovely cara.

I am feeling a lot of 'low down' movements never had this with the boys. Very strange wondering if anything to do with low lying placenta?

cara2244 · 10/03/2011 22:12

Nicola have you def got a low lying one? I have had lots of low down movements this time and my placenta is in the right place apparently.

nicolamumof3 · 10/03/2011 22:20

yes i have, going back at 34w for scan to see if its moved fingers crossed.

buttonmoon78 · 11/03/2011 10:21

Morning all! We're all sounding nicely chilled out today!

I had lots of low down movements with ds but he was resolutely breech for ages. Not sure how (or if) this fits with low lying placenta but it was how I always knew he was breech even when MW and OBS wouldn't examine me because of too much pain.

Feeling good myself today. This time next week I'll have seen baby for the last time (barring issues) so I'll be full of it then!

inbetweener · 11/03/2011 10:31

Morning all,
nicola I was told I had a low lying placenta at a scan at 16 weeks. I had had some bleeding. I am hoping that it will have moved by my scan on monday.

If it hasnt moved by your 34 weeks scan have you been told you will have to have a CS ?? I have read conflicting information on the internet but havent had that conversation yet with an actual MW or doctor. Im not sure I would want to " attempt " a natural birth after having been so lucky with 2 striaghtforward births previously.

Well Im so glad its friday. Although I have a manic weekend !
My DD1 has her first holy confession tommorrow morning before her holy communion in may. I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall and see what she says lol. She is also having a party at Build-a-bear on saturday afternoon then we are taking her out for dinner !
Sunday she is of out for the day with the brownies so DH and I will be entertaining DD2.
Then Monday its scan day Grin !! Am so excited yet nervous at the same time.
Still feeling irregular thumps down below. Nothing major and not all the time but a few pokes here and there. Although last night after I had hoovered I was sitting down getting my breath back and it hit so hard I called DH who felt it for the first time !! Its been quiet since though Sad so am hoping I get a few thumps at work today while I am sitting here....

Right time for a hot cross bun and a Brew

Oh and my Ebay maternity bundle arrived last night. I bid £19 and received about £200 worth of stuff I reckon !! So pleased with it ! i got 6 pairs of jeans included !!! I chucked it all in the wash straightaway, then the tumble dryer and am wearing a gorgeous blooming marvellous top to work today Grin
