Oooh new thread, good luck Hersetta Smile

RunDMC · 13/01/2011 22:36

Good luck Hersetta, got my scan tomorrow too. Fingers crossed for us - if my ongoing sickness is anything to go by theres definitely something going on in my body.

Even though I had a scan at 9 weeks I'm still nervous about this one.

sajaruss · 13/01/2011 23:30

Am I too late to join you ladies? Seems like you all already know each other well.
My EDD is 8/8, although this is based on a guess of when my LMP was, as I'm rubbish at keeping track of such things as wasn't trying in earnest for pregnancy. Have got a scan booked later this month which should give more of an idea...
I'm 35 and live in Brighton. Have already got a daughter who will be 2yrs and 9 mnths when new one arrives.
Hello to you all!

Cadmum · 14/01/2011 02:41

Hello all.

I am sorry to read your news, if... Take care of yourself.

My mum actually guessed that I am pregnant! I am shocked because I don't generally find that she is in tune with my feelings at all. She arrived here on Tuesday evening and started worrying about me on Wednesday morning because I look tired and slightly ill... Yesterday morning she just came out with: So are you expecting again?!

Now to summon the courage to tell our dcs...

Good luck with your scan hersetta. ( I am 7 hours ahead of you lot.)

impatient1 · 14/01/2011 06:09

Hi sajaruss Im due 8/8 too.

I have been a bit stupid. I hired a doppler, found the heartbeat straight away the first two times i used it, now i cant find it for love nor money, and am worrying myself sick. Off to docs i go... :(

SMummyS · 14/01/2011 07:01

Hello everyone, how are you all feeling today?

littlemisslozza · 14/01/2011 07:35

ifatfirst really sorry to hear your sad news. Thinking of you.

LadyGoneGaga · 14/01/2011 08:28

Littlebeaut - you will try and take all your holiday for the full 2011 before you go on maternity leave. Then in 2012 when you come back you will still have accrued holiday for 2012 so will have a fiull years entitlement to take.

Also worth remembering is that you should also get paid for Bank Holidays (or at least my company do) which is a nice lump sum at the end of maternity when you are skint!

Thanks for our new home, Hersetta!

davidtennantsmistress · 14/01/2011 08:31

good luck hersetta.

LouBeee · 14/01/2011 08:56

Thanks for the new home Hersetta.

All good here. Went for an early scan yesterday - heard the heartbeat and baby is a normal (if very tiny!) size. So feeling much more relieved now, although clearly still googled chance of mc after heartbeat seen at 9 weeks when I got home for no sane reason. I told my mum that I would stop worrying at 12 weeks and she laughed at me and said "You're going to be a Mum, worrying is a default position, get used to it as it never stops even when your baby is 32!" I think she might have a point ...

Hope everyone is doing well.

Ekka · 14/01/2011 09:11

About not being able to find the heartbeat - even the mw can struggle at this early stage; it can be difficult to find depending on baby's position, so don't worry if you can't find it every time. Here our mw doesn't try till the 16 week appt as she says it just scares people for no reason if she can't get it earlier.

Still tired, and already in pg jeans as my others were just too uncomfy, I'm only 10 weeks fgs! Thats the joys of 3rd pg for you Grin

LifeOfKate · 14/01/2011 09:15

Thanks for the new thread and good luck for your scan, Hersetta!

Impatient (apt name, BTW Wink) it is totally normal not to find the heartbeat this early. Many midwives won't even attempt it at the 16 week appt in case they can't find it and panic people, please please don't worry.

bunnyfrance · 14/01/2011 09:26

Hi all,

So sorry to hear your news, If, it must be so so hard for you.

A question about hearing heartbeats during scans - what kind of scans are they, as I've never heard a heartbeat during scans with DS1. There's never been any sound. Is it new technology or something? I've only heard a heartbeat with the special doppler thingy.

LadyGoneGaga · 14/01/2011 09:57

Just normal ultrasound, Bunnyfrance. they will measure heartrate and turn up volume so you can hear it. Is lovely. I had nuchal scan privately and they record you a DVD of the scan and include the heartbeat sound for part of it so you can hear it at home Smile

Teladi · 14/01/2011 09:59

Welcome sajaruss!

I'm so sorry to hear your news, If. You're in my thoughts.

I ended up telling my family last night about my pregnancy - they had all guessed already (so much for my attempts at subterfuge) and are all thrilled. Which is a bright spot in the midst of all the puking etc. I'm 9 weeks on Monday so I'm hoping I'll be out of this stage soon.

bunnyfrance · 14/01/2011 10:07

Oooh, now I feel deprived, Lady! It must be different in France. We don't get a DVD here either, just a printout of black and white photos. Never had a 3-D scan either.

jspark123 · 14/01/2011 11:49

Hi everyone, I have been reading the threads, sorry for those with bad news. Thinking of you all x
After the initial frustration of my first GP forgetting to even refer me to the ante-natal unit I have been checking up on everything, and it looks like things are running as they should be now, my referral has gone through and they will be sending me a letter out, which should come by next week. I should be around 11 weeks today, so they should put me to top of list for seeing a midwife and then hopefully a scan soon, I am starting to feel left out with those due later than me having already had their scans! Plus it means I can't tell anyone else yet!
I am pretty laid back fortunately so I am not too stressed by it all.
One thing I have noticed is that I struggle to put my shoes and socks on due to a pulling in my lower back, eased by extending my lower back, I'm guessing it's related to all the ligaments loosening and allowing things to stretch further. I am normally pretty active so all these changes make me feel like an old woman!

littlemisslozza · 14/01/2011 12:10

bunny I've never had that either so you're not the only one - and I'm in England! We just get one black and white picture, I've seen the print outs they give you in France (family who live there) and you get loads in comparison.

KLou111 · 14/01/2011 12:30

oooooo a lovely new page, it's just like starting a new exercise book at school (even if they did smell a bit fishy! but was still nice and new)

Hope scans go OK today :)

MrsStevo · 14/01/2011 13:34

Loubeee I did the exact same thing when I got back from my scan on Tuesday. Dr. Google told me that - despite seeing 2 healthy heartbeats at 7 weeks - I still have a 50% chance of mc apparently (much higher risk for me because of twins). Excitement has been in my boots ever since as now I'm just fretting that there won't be any heartbeats when I go back on 31st Jan. I even asked the sonographer lady about it whilst I was having the scan and she said "the vast, vast majority of pregnancies are healthy once you've seen a heartbeat at this stage".

Why do we do this to ourselves?!?!!

bunnyfrance · 14/01/2011 13:34

jspark123, get used to the old woman feeling, especially for after the birth... Grin
Klou, just got a wave of nausea when you mentioned fish, yuck!

Hersetta · 14/01/2011 13:45

Phew back in at work.

Scan took ages as Dirk was very wriggly and waving and facing towards us on it's side, and they needed it to on it's back.

Baby eventually complied for about a minute which was enough for the sonagrapher to do three measurements of the nuchal fold. All looks really well, I have been put at 11+5 which has moved my EDD forward one day to 31/7/11. All measurements were spot on and baby is sitting smack on the 50th centile.

All very happy here.

Wonderful news, Hersetta! You must be so relieved. Are you going to start telling everyone now or is that already done?

You're the first on the thread to have had her 12-week scan, not so?
