marking place....

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 27/08/2010 10:11

I like the title- even if it means we are scarily close now!!

Been to sainsburys for my hospital bag- 25% off clothes so got some pjs and baggy tops. They have maternity sanitary pads in the baby section pretty cheap so don't spend a fortune on fact heavy flow ones! I also got some very flattering granny pants :)

... And earplugs! Ingot ear plugs as a vain attempt to block out everyone else if I end up on the ward!

Slept better last night ! But bump seems to be growing rapidly and is tender.

Right, off to bumps and babes- hope you are all ok :)

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 27/08/2010 10:11

Not fact- fancy I meant!

tiredfeet · 27/08/2010 10:32

love the new thread title! really sums up how I feel right now - well and truly on the final countdown! exciting but daunting at the same time.

my bump got very tight and tender last night, felt like it was about to split in two. I think I'd just been rushing around too much yesterday. Had a bath though and it definitely helped.

I'm very jealous of all those meeting tiny babies, the few people I know who are pregnant are all due after me. Still, not long till I meet mine now I guess!

nymphadora · 27/08/2010 10:48

ILGH thanks for the offer, will see how GSp fairs at pushing Physio. She was quite concerned at how badly I was walking and I mentioned my concerns about the wait so she will push it.

Thanks for new thread , much quicker to load!

Should fill up faster this time as everyone finishes work & has more appts.

Is it really bad if I have my dinner now? Have left over pizza & really want it now!

jessebelle · 27/08/2010 12:03

morning! Great to see the new thread.

Elsa123 I'm so sorry - I really hope I haven't made your fears worse! I think the vast proportion of births are 'normal' whatever that is so please don't worry.

And that's soooo lame about your hospital maternity tour - you'd have thought that at least somebody could have shown you where you'd need to go to when the time comes!

re: names, it seems that my daughter and my partner have chosen the name if it's a boy already! And as I apparently named DD without input from DP I'm not allowed to argue - Shock. Don't remember that but perhaps it's true, i can be a bit of a control freak, but I did think one of the names we chose was my DP's choice! Also have NO idea for names for if it's a girl...

Really annoyed with Virgin Media - have no home internet or TV at the moment - a cable is damaged outside and it took them a week to send an engineer to confirm it and now they're saying they can't repair it till the 9th September - ludicrous - I can't be without TV & 'net until then!!! For one thing mat leave starts essentially on 4th so that's 5 days at home without being able to check emails. Anyway, that'll explain any long gaps between posts by me, especially at weekends - as I can only post when I'm at work for now...

jennimoo · 27/08/2010 12:14

Hello,

It really is getting close now, and I'm finding the weeks whizzing by. I have a feeling it will slow down when I finish work (a week on Monday!) as I'll not be as busy.

tiredfeet - my bump gets tight and uncomfortable every so often, and always when I've been doing too much... I ended up carrying 3 laptop bags around on Wednesday, after a meeting, and stupidly didn't ask for help, and felt exhausted afterwards!

Elsa123 · 27/08/2010 12:15

Morning all. Jessebelle no dramas Smile I'm trying not to worry about it. I'm pretty small and am thinking about putting on my birth plan I'd rather go stright ot CS than forceps as its the long term damage they can do which really concerns me and doesn't seem to be considered at the time. Hopefully it will all be strightforward- you're right, most births are!

I'm sooo tired. Roll on bank holiday weekend....

KSal · 27/08/2010 13:51

marking my place, thanks for the thread abfab!

sam12 · 27/08/2010 15:36

Hi everyone, just a quick one to mark my place.
Am really fed up as my friend, who I was really looking forward to seeing, as just called me up to cancel our plans for this evening as her fella has got shingles and has been advised to stay away from pregnant women. Sad now I have nothing to do all night.

jesse that is really annoying about having no net.

Anyway hope that everyone has a good bank holiday weekend

Hermya321 · 27/08/2010 16:25

Yay new thread!!!

So how is everyone today?? I'm feeling fab, I'm now on leave for two weeks and am going to enjoy every baby free minute!!

Tyson86 · 27/08/2010 16:30

Hello everyone, just marking my spot.
MIL offered to buy my TENS machine 2 weeks ago, i had the dosh but she told dh she wanted to get it, im 34 weeks today and still waiting, i wanted to have it to know it was in the house, i told her i want the Lloyds pharmacy one as i have heard good reviews on it, she is now trying to ignore me and get the boots one, getting a wee bit irratated by her now! I wish she had never offered as now i havent got the spare money till 21st September when ill be 37+4 weeks gone :(

shieldbug · 27/08/2010 16:55

Thanks for new thread abFab. Like the title, even if it is scary!

Floozie glad to hear they don't think steroids will be necessary. Sounds like they were really thorough so you don't need to worry about next Tuesday- it's just another day. I know that's easier to say than do. Hope you have a good break and are distracted from worrying.

Tyson how frustrating. Hope it sorts itself out.

Aw sam12 hope you manage to have a good night in anyway. How disappointing.

Seashells thanks for the info on Sainsburys. May try to see if I can get suitable nightwear there. I bought a nightie in a sale from M and P but it turns out to be too pale to be suitable for hospital. Still, I will wear it for bf as it offers easy access!

Hope you all have a good weekend. Dh and I are going for a seaside jaunt on a special steam train in Sunday. He's so excited! Just hope the weather isn't too bad.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 27/08/2010 18:41

Marking my place.

Elsa I know what you mean about cs - I'd rather that than forceps or ventouse although I am saying that in ignorance!

Tyson86 · 27/08/2010 19:16

Now mil ha sent fil into lloyds to get oneand saying there are 3 different Labour ones which as i have already checked know is a load of crap! So still havent got one. I could scream!!! :(

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 27/08/2010 21:36

Tyson :( boots website, hire one, they deliver you can cancel if mil finally gets sorted Grin

Mw thinks my sore areas on my bump are bruises from lo - ouch!! Looking forward to a sunny weekend :)

nymphadora · 28/08/2010 10:57

Found out why I'm craving ice, it's killing the reflux! Just have to eat it constantly!

AbFabT · 28/08/2010 12:48

Hey, All

Glad you like the title and new thread!

I set it up then raced off to the hospital to get my 34wk bloods done - over two and a half hours waiting in there, and was in a bit of a rush as we left for a long weekend in Scotland. I was waiting two hours just to get my forms from the m/w, then had to go to a separate blood unit for the actual needle, so then had to join THAT queue! So no time to post when I finally got home as was busying about finishing packing and prepping snacks for the journey.

In Scotland now, at the PILs, nice and relaxed, aah.
Just bought a cheap pair of trainers - my feet have swollen and wearing my old trainers make my feet really ache.
Tomorrow we'll go to BabiesRUs and Sainsburys and get the last bits and pieces for the baby.

Jessebelle, that does suck about Virgin Media. Ours also went down a couple of weeks ago, called them Friday lunchtime, and was told Monday was the first they could come round. Not very impressive, a whole weekend without the Internet (I think our TV package was still working though). They said they'd call when they were an hour away to confirm I was in, but they never did! Luckily, it had just started working on the Sunday, DH had called to cancel them coming but was stuck on hold for ages, and gave up! They don't make it easy, do they! Anyway, hope you get yours sorted.

Hermya321 · 28/08/2010 13:14

Abfab My word, two and a half hours. Thats madness!

Nymph Glad you've found a cure for the reflux.

I went and bought out Primark and Mothercare today, I'm pretty much there now on the baby stuff and hospital bag stuff.

I'm planning on borrowing a friends Tens machine if my friend has had her baby in time. If not, then no biggie.

sam12 · 28/08/2010 13:49

Hope you have a lovely time abfab!
I have just finished packing my hospital bags so glad that job can be checked off. I am having a worry that I have only got 7 babygros. I am taking 4 to hospital and that will leave 3 for when we get home. Do you think that is unrealistic and I should get some more?
Help!

Tyson86 · 28/08/2010 15:30

seashells that sounds like a plan, will do that, it will make me chill a little.

I still havent got my hospital bags finished yet, having a home birth but still need them in case.

sam12 7 babygros should be fine, i only had about 7 for ds and it did me just fine :)

piesey · 29/08/2010 10:33

Hi everyone

Liking the new thread!

Not much has happened for me recently - just waiting to get an appointment with my new midwife team since moving and then I can get all set up again. I'm 31+4 so need to get sorted quickly but at least I have a GP now!

Have a goopd bank holiday everyone.
x

Elsa123 · 29/08/2010 12:40

Hello- well done on getting the GP thing sorted Piesey. Hopefully everything else will follow along!

We got our Mamas and Papas cotbed yesterday and set it up. Very easy to do and it look really nice. We also got some bedding and even though I wasn't planning on a home coming outfit, we bought a fleecy velour outfit from M&P with a cute collar in white.

I haven't packed my bag and don't have the majority of what I need. I also haven't packed the baby bag, but I have everything for it and its all washed. I may just do that today. My stuff- when I can be bothered!

Hermya321 · 29/08/2010 13:34

Elsa Great news on the Cotbed, I'm glad you got that sorted!!

Pisey Great news on getting the GP thing sorted.

loobyboo · 29/08/2010 16:19

Haven't posted for ages, have been reading the thread.

Liking the new name, final countdown.

Don't want to scare anyone but it was nearly countdown complete for me this weekend.

Just Spent two nights in hospital with pre term labour contractions, having thought that they were Braxton hicks but started getting more painful and had to breathe through them. This began fri morning (was in the middle of sorting out the cot bits to put up) when they started getting more frequent and more painful dh phone midwife who advise to phone hospital and tell them of my medical history, which includes quick births

Had the most horrible car journey not only having to cope with the pain and bumpy roads, but also sorting out childcare (why is it you can never get hold of people when matters, couldn't get hold of mum had gone out) once that was sorted out was a mad dash to the hospital ( getting stuck behind every slow driver typical) I did think that I was going to give birth in the car in was that intense.

Upon arrival at hospital was having a contractions every 3mins and told it looks like I was in labour. They said it can happen due to infections so was given antibiotics and was put on the monitor for the afternoon still the contractions were coming but gradually got less and less but wanted to keep me in, incase it starts again and we live over 40 mins away and if my waters broke it could happen very quickly.

Had them on and off during night and not much sleep. but as they hadn't stop had to stay in another night.

Let out this morning as baby has decided to stay put for the time being. Was quite scary for a moment there being only 34wks and they baby being small, but it seems to have sorted it self out now.

Now I have to cope with pregnancy diabetes having been for test on Thursday and told yesterday that I'm just over the borderline. So hopefully that is the 3rd thing with this pregnancy.

Sorry it's a long post.
