Nymph no idea- a week? I'm with you on the reflux- its horrid isn't it? I got in last night and felt really sick, with bad reflux and couldn't eat any dinner. I went to bed propped up on high pillows with my handy glass of water with cider vinegar- it really works, you can feel it neutralising the acid as it goes down.

I'm wondering if the baby has turned as I've had 3 nights in a row when I've been able to sleep from about 0100 through to 0700 without loo breaks. Either that or I'm depriving myself of fluids...

Lilmiss- the crib sounds lovely. I have a 35 year old moses basket which is considerably bigger than ones you find in the shops these days and should last longer than a few months size wise.

AbFabT I can't believe you're 35 weeks! I'm 34 weeks on Thursday...gulp.

Don'tstopmeknow Floozie and Looby good news! Keep holding on there- it proves no 2 pregnancies are the same!

I must sort out baby and maternity bags....I will do it on 13 Sep as its my first day of leave! Whooppee! This is my penultimate week at work and its a 4 day week. On the downside, I'm travelling 1.5 hours this morning for a meeting in Leicestershire and the person I'm going with is very heavy footed with the brake and clutch (nervous driver), so I'll be offering to drive for the sake of nausea but the downside will be feeling knackered for the meeting I'm chairing!

nymphadora · 31/08/2010 09:27

I've just been sent back to bed & dh phoned my mam to come help. In pain & exhausted& v weak. But now I'm in bed the reflux is back :(

shieldbug · 31/08/2010 09:33

floozie When I couldn't sleep for a while this morning I was thinking of you and hoping all was well. Good to hear you are past that particular milestone.

elsa glad you are sleeping better. Hope the meeting goes well.

Nymph you really have been suffering with this pg. Lots of sympathy being sent your way. Hope you get a physio appt soon.

lilmiss hooray that the meds are working for the diabetes and that other things are looking up too. Your cot sounds fab.

We've got our 2nd and final antenatal class tonight. I hope it's a little more useful than last weeks, when they were telling us about pelvic floor exercises and sleeping positions that we should have been doing (and I have) for months now! Dh is hoping I'll say he doesn't have to go, but since it's apparently going to include ways he can be useful during labour, there's no way I'm letting him off this one!

RooBear · 31/08/2010 10:07

Hello everyone, hope you had good weekends,

Thats wonderful news mummywilliams

Hope you feel better soon nymph

shieldbug we start our classes next monday hope they are more useful for you this time.

Well I'm 32+3 so feel a bit behind some of you! but we were productive this weekend, ordered the dresser and cot bed which should arrive by the end of the week, got bedding a starter pack of resuable nappies, changing mat etc.... can't think of anything else we need, just need to pick a carseat which my lovely grandparents are getting for us.

Hermya321 · 31/08/2010 10:50

Nymph I hope you feel better soon.

Shieldbug I hope your class goes well tonight.

Elsa Not long now!!

Abfab Oh my word, you're near the end aren't you. That must feel so scary.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 31/08/2010 11:32

looby, moonstorm and floozie- glad you are all passing those big dates, i hope those lo stay put for a few weeks more - fully cooked at 37 weeks Grin

Having my first day of mat leave- ds in nursery so I am scrubbing kitchen cupboards and scaring dh who is concerned I'm nesting!!

Nymph- start chasing re physio today, it's the only way, be a polite pita Grin

Does anyone know of a second hand phil and teds tandem, or where i could get one from? eBay is NOT full of bargains!!! I may have to bite the bullet though Sad

piesey · 31/08/2010 12:13

Hello all

Good to hear that some of you are passing the worrying dates now!

My sister is due now and is desperate for the baby to come. She's 8 weeks ahead of me so it suddenlt feels liek it isn't as far away as I thought it was... I'm 31+6 but hearing about some of you at 35 weeks + is really scary!

Seashells been looking at ebay myself for various thaings and not finding any bargains either! Have you signed up for Freecycle in your area? I have and although I haven't used it yet, I get daily emails about thigns offered and there are quite a few baby things going including prams/buggies etc in good condition. Also you could try Gumtree too.

DillyDora · 31/08/2010 13:18

Hey all - just marking my place, back from Germany now. Will read up later
xx

AbFabT · 31/08/2010 14:09

nymph (and others), sorry to hear about the reflux. I read somewhere (on here, I think!) that almonds and apples help - I had a bit of reflux the last three days, ate almonds and drank cold apple juice, and really did feel some relief at the time.

SeaShells, netmums local might also be a good place to get a bargain P&T, as well as eBay and FreeCycle. Good luck!

Hermya, yeah, I am one of the early October lot, so yes, it's getting very very close for me! But pretty much ready, just need to wash the baby clothes, get the carseat, and read my Hypnobirthing book, and do the perineal massage thing! And keep doing pelvic floor exercises - I keep forgetting! We should remind each other!!!

nymphadora · 31/08/2010 14:39

Well done seashells on the kitchen cupboards. I've done my food ones but not the pots one! I've been cooking & hoarding food does that count as nesting?

Also sorted paperwork & accountants stuff is ready to send ( well before Jan - can I be smug?)

And something depressing & important - make sure you all have wills especially if you aren't married!

KSal · 31/08/2010 15:04

seashells I am also on my first day of mat leave... DD is at nursery and i am cleaning out the kitchen cupboards... reckon i'm about 2/3 of the way through. Its strangely satisfying.

congratulations to all those passing their worrying dates... my own one is the 18th Sept. DD wasn't very early at 36+4 but i'd still like this one to hold on a bit longer! just to the magical 37 weeks as seashells says.

having a nightmare sleeping - my back is just killing me whatever position i am in... ho hum. keep waking up lying on my back... can't imagine that is much fun for the baby.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 31/08/2010 15:16

Yy to wills- depressing but so important, especially legal guardian stuff.

My p&t quest resummes now I have had my nap, thanks for the suggestions :)

Nymph- there is "getting ready" which is reasonable. I think what worried dh was I have put everything onto Tupperware so it's organized and spotless - which is closer to "nesting" beh. I'm 35 weeks + though, still too early but ds was born at 37 so may be I'm determined not to get caught this time?!!

Hermya321 · 31/08/2010 16:59

Back from my scan, placenta is well and truely well away from the exit. LO is getting very big as well, they said he was getting on for four and a half pounds (and this is at 32 weeks!!!).

I hope I don't end up with one of those huge wopper babies. I think though that he'll just be very long and skinny as both me and DH are like that.

nymphadora · 31/08/2010 17:45

Ready to go then hermya

jennimoo · 31/08/2010 18:55

nymph - I did my tax return at the weekend! Was going to do it on maternity leave, but couldn't resist the fun ;)

In the last 24h I've managed to do two extremely baby brain things, which I thought would make people laugh:

  1. dropped my iPhone in to a pint glass of water! Kinda a disaster, but couldn't help laughing, and have thankfully found out I am insured, so not too big a problem

  2. put my PIN number in to the coffee machine at work! Slightly less disasterous, but again I just started laughing hysterically which everyone around me thought was a bit odd...

nymphadora · 31/08/2010 20:08

OMG iPhone deprival how will you cope?

AbFabT · 31/08/2010 21:44

LOL @ the PIN in the coffee machine! That's brilliant! :)

OP posts:
jennimoo · 01/09/2010 06:26

Will my brain really never be the same again? I'm used to being quite together so this baby brain is taking a bit of getting used to! ;)

Hermya321 · 01/09/2010 08:18

Nymph Oh yeah, the midwife even mentioned that he looked like he was getting ready to engage as well Confused. It looks like he's inherited my lack of paitence. How on earth will you cope without your iphone though and LOL at putting your PIN in the coffee machine.

Jenimoo To believe my friend, apparently it won't be. But according to my friend who has three children, you gain the gift of organisation. Seriously I have never seen so many lists in one place. Her life is timetabled and colour coded. Grin

Hope everyone is well this morning and enjoying the nice weather.

shieldbug · 01/09/2010 09:16

morning all!

jennimoo perhaps we should all share baby brain moments. I keep forgetting I've got hold of things and dropping them. It's like my fingers get bored or something. I swear I'll forget to breathe one of these days!

Well, today is the day of my scary "check sproglet's kidneys are ok" scan. As you may remember, at the last scan the consultant thought she saw cysts on the kidneys, so it's all going to be checked today. I know the chances are all will be fine, but there's still that niggling worry..... Will let you know how it goes (appt is at 1:30pm).

Was disappointed at antenatal class last night- no breathing exercises or gory birth videos. Lots of stuff about how to help things move along more quickly though, so that was useful (seems to involve lots of wiggling and being on all fours!).

RooBear · 01/09/2010 09:28

Its september everyone!!!!! next month (and possibly this one) the LO's will be arriving! Grin

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 01/09/2010 09:37

Shieldbug- I hope the scan goes well, will have everything crossed for you!

Elsa123 · 01/09/2010 10:26

good luck shieldbug. x x

some of you may remember I managed to crash my car back in June. I've now found out that contrary to what I was told- there was no need to call the police. I called them because I needed help moving my car. anyway- they now think I'm to blame for the accident and want me to attend a driver alertness course for £162. The advised me at the time that this might be the case, but I could do it after I'd had the baby. The deadline set to complete the course by is 1 Nov. Available dates are 14 Sep (but I can't find my drivers license so am sending off for a new one, but it won't arrive in time so I can't do that date) or 14 Oct- my EDD! The driver alertness division of the police dept said they would ask the AA to find me a date in Nov/early Dec- but doing a one day course 4 hours of which is driving with a newborn is not exactly convenient. Also, doing it whilst heavily pregnant isn't easy either! To add to that I'm moving house back up to Lincolnshire on 13 Dec so will no longer be in the Thames Valley area. Now my file is being referred back to the investigating officer and he's going to call me back to discuss next steps. Looks like I may be prosecuted! Great. I know people get points on their licenses all the time- but I do worry about the fine side of things. Its all just an adminsitrative mess, made more annoying by the fact that th epolice didn't really need to be involved in the first place but me in my shell shocked state believed the person who told me they did which is now causing me this heartache. AND it happened 3 months ago! Grr.

Oh and on top of that, my 'I'm sleeping better boast' went to pot last night as I laid awake until 0245, then woke up at 0545 when the heating pipes started clanging as my rented house in bucks is so damp that I need to have the heating kick in in the morning so my clothes feel dry!

Moan moan moan. Sorry about that, just needed to let off steam Smile. x x Hope you're all well.

shieldbug · 01/09/2010 11:47

elsa that's so unfair! Surely if it's just your word against those in the other car, they have no evidence to prosecute? It doesn't seem right that they can force you to take this course too when it costs a fair bit. You should go to it in November or December and make sure you bf and change nappies etc at frequent intervals to emphasise how inconvenient it all is! Seriously though, hope it all works out without you having any more hassle. Your moans are utterly justified. Sorry to hear you didn't sleep too well last night either.
I had one of those mornings when you wake up, think you have ages left, try to go back to sleep, then are shocked to hear the alarm go off. Boo!

hermya good to hear that things are going well wrt the position of placenta and baby.

floozietoozie · 01/09/2010 12:01

Shieldbug good luck for the scan. Fingers crossed all is well.

Jennimoo Grin. Look on the bright side, at least you remember your PIN (for now..).

Hermya ds was 4lb2oz at birth, so just a bit before you are now. I find it a bit weird now that I know roughly what this one looks like because I've seen ds at this stage.

Re the thread title, I had exactly nine weeks to go the day it was created so very apt, although I am hoping, given the speed at which they are moving, that it's not the last ante-natal one for all of us!
