Moonstorm Asked my teacher friend and she said the same as you, they can't make you work them. If they wanted you to attend they'd have to pay you for the days, but technically you are in the right. She did say though that you can sometimes end up in an arkward situation because of not going because they may come at it from the point of view that it would be 'useful' to attend ifyswim.

Nymph Really?? Is that the one near the market hall? I may have to pop in next week at some point then and take a looky. Also did you go to the fair they had on the other weekend, I went and tbh I wasn't that impressed. There wasn't as much there as they said there would be. Oh well.

Elsa As long as the police force that you move into offers it, you'll can do it cross force area. If they don't, try a neighbouring force. I hope they are being helpful to you considering your pregnant state. I suppose as a spy though your training covers more hanging around off of roofs and how to break into buildings without being detected these days doesn't it rather than the old driving around like James Bond Wink.

Dilly Glad you got compliments at the wedding, I bet you looked fab!!

Loo Glad things are going well for you.

Other than that, I spent the day mooching round the shops and mentally planning my post baby garments. I probably won't end up getting any of the stuff I looked at today (just because I tend to be a sporadic clothes shopper) but I can dream.

floozietoozie · 02/09/2010 20:28

Moonstorm I can't advise not being a teacher but just want to say I'm very Angry on your behalf and sending you hugs. I really hope you rmailedback saying a) I'm not obliged to ge in and more importantly b) I'm trying not to have another premature baby, thanks all the same. Grrrrrr.

Thanks fir the good wishes guys. The test was a bit trying as I had to wait quite a while before I even got the firsttest and the drink done - I was there by 8.45 and not done till after 9.30 which given the cold and last night I was not best pleased about. However the good news is as I suspected I don't have GD. Just big heads in the family! I did get a rest when I came home.

Piesey I tend not to go to bed till later too but think I should try tobring it forward tonight. It's just getting ds down - by the time he's gone to sleep I just need winding down time. Saying that, time to round him up.

floozietoozie · 02/09/2010 20:36

That message didn't get posted when I wrote it for some reason.

Just looking through my hospital list, has anyone found any good bfing tops (not pyjamas)? Suitable for the time of year, so long-sleeved preferably, but I suppose I'm going to need quite a few if bfing works so actually short-sleeved are fine too. I've got a bfing preparation class next week, which I'm hoping will make me feel more confident it will be ok this time.

Hermya321 · 02/09/2010 20:55

Floozie How about this sort of thing?

moonstorm · 02/09/2010 22:25

Hi

Thanks for the replies. The general concensus is the I cannot be made to go in, and as I had already (in July) said I wouldn't be there, that they are being really unfair. The worst thing was the emails were so rude an there was not one sentence asking how I was ? it was only last week I was in hospital as I hadn?t felt my baby move? Anyway, I?m not going to think about it ? I just have to be careful as they are going to be sorting my job out when I go back and I don?t want to get people?s backs up?

Shieldbug I?m so relieved for you xx

Piesy and Floozie I can?t sleep either, and when I do, I wake up in loads of pain. Not good is it??!

Elsa that?s rubbish about the course

Floozie glad the test worked out ? I had this, it?s not fun is it? Starve yourself, then fill yourself full of sugar.

Feeling better now. I?m getting my first kicks in the ribs!!! Never had that before with ds being breech Grin bet the novelty wears off, though!!

Take care x

jennimoo · 03/09/2010 07:41

Had a bit of a shock yesterday: first of my nct class had her baby! She was due in a couple of weeks (I'm the last to be due...) but still a huge shock to see a pic on facebook of her baby!

Anyone else think they're still in denial about the actual 'getting a baby' but?

Elsa123 · 03/09/2010 08:11

Jennimoo Yes! However the first of my 2 day crash course with NCT starts tomorrow, so perhaps it will become more unavoidable! There is the denial bit, but also my need to get this baby out as its bashing my bones!

DillyDora · 03/09/2010 09:45

Morning all - sorry about the work thing moonstorm very upsetting - suggest you refer them to your email of July saying you weren't coming (like, could they read their emails please?!) and leave it at that. So rude....

Blummen hips are killing me at night, can't get enough sleep though I'm not really awake either IYSWIM so I just feel as if I've had a heavy night all the time. Ah well, not toooooo long to go. The DSS come today, haven't seen them for weeks so I wonder what they'll say about the bigger bump Grin

jennimoo I think I will just be desperate to get the baby out!

floozietoozie · 03/09/2010 09:46

Dilly, I forgot to say I'm glad you had a lovely time at the wedding and the dress was good. I'm going to one next weekend and I have no idea what I'm wearing yet. Oops.

Another night of lots of wakings and ds awake for hours this time. I would have slept if he had which is annoying. The night before was just me. Only just got up as a result and have nappy lady coming in about 45 minutes. She only emailed so I have no number asking to delay it a bit.

nymphadora · 03/09/2010 10:18

hermya yes they are hung up just as you walk in. Was that the BF fest you went to? I have been following on FB but stuff I was more interested in I couldn't go to.

DillyDora · 03/09/2010 10:25

Floozie depending on how you feel I wore non-maternity dresses - in the day I wore an a-line M&S dress wiv me black knee length support socks and flat shoes and told myself I was channelling that 1960s look, then in the evening a jersey dress from Therapy from House of Fraser - this one and thought the one shoulder thing balanced out the bigger hips... and showed the bump off lovely - o...and big earrings!

lilmissmummy · 03/09/2010 11:59

oooh dilly that dress is gorgeous! Now just need somewhere to wear it to!

I am waking all the time too :( makes me really tired and grumpy during the day too!

Floozie how did you GTT go? Any results yet?

moonstorm I am getting kicks in the ribs too, I am on day 5 of the rib kicking and I feel like I have done 5 rounds with Mike Tyson! :) My ribs are so sore.

I had my 32 week scan on Wednesday and baby is doing well, looks like Hermya and I will have matching babies as she is measuring the right size for dates and weights aprox 4lb 6oz although I still technically have 8 weeks to go so if babies typically put on a pound a week that leave me with a 12and a half pound baby Hmm Baby is very far down so much so that she couldnt measure from crown to rump Confused which is a bit worrying especially as she can still kick me in the ribs from there!

Sheildbug great news about babys kidneys!

have fun at antenatal to those who are going.

STILL havent heard from the physio even though I was diagnosed with SPD at 16 weeks!!! Luckily it hasnt got too bad. Just hurts to go up and down stairs or anything too strenuous like that! Long country walks are out of the question :(

nymphadora · 03/09/2010 12:24

Lilmiss chase up Physio , my experiences if referrals getting lost has taught me that!

shieldbug · 03/09/2010 12:36

hello all!

dh and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary yesterday. We just went out for a meal and we were both really tired, but it was still a nice occasion.

lilmiss reckon you need to do some serious pestering of the physio until they give you an appt. Sounds like you have somehow slipped between the cracks. Good news about your scan, but I hope your calculation of the weight is wrong!

dilly the dress looks great. Bet you were fabulous.

jennimoo I was thinking about things we could do for bonfire night and then realised that I would definitely have had the baby by then. That's when it all really sunk in. Yikes!

floozie good news from your test. Hope you manage to catch up on sleep soon.

I'm feeling rather sore at the moment. Like lots of others, I'm getting regularly beaten up by sproglet, especially in the ribs. Unfortunately my fibroids have started to give me some serious gip as well, probably because they are getting squished by sproglet against the front of my bump. Even worse, they are giving me stretch marks. Sad Thought I might manage to escape them too.

nymphadora · 03/09/2010 12:48

Re reading lilmiss I thought it was 1/2 lb a week not a whole one?according to my pg app itsabout 200g which is just under

ILoveGregoryHouse · 03/09/2010 14:29

Hi All. Been awol as getting back to Bahrain took up a lot of time. Anyhoo, we're back now.

Who asked about Lansinoh? I got it at Sainsburys.

Nymph, good luck with the crutches.

Okay, off to catch up properly.

lilmissmummy · 03/09/2010 16:20

ooh I like the 1/2 lb calculation better! That would give me an 8 1/2 lb baby which would be preferred! :) I think that does sounds more realistic Nymph thank you I will stop panicking now Grin

I think I will pester them again, I chased up at all of my midwife appointments but still nothing seems to be done.

Congratulations on your wedding anniversary Sheild and sorry to hear about your stretch marks!

jennimoo I was told last week that it was 4 months until Christmas, it freaked me out to think that we will all have 2 month (ish) old babies by then!!!

ILGH welcome back :)

Oh my best friend had a baby boy by c section the day before yesterday 7lb 12oz Grin that made it all a bit more real too Confused Grin

nymphadora · 03/09/2010 17:52

lilmiss crying seems to work for me ...

My friend still hasn't had her baby. Going for induction next week if all else fails, both going to be in same school year now though.

I seem to have done something to my finger. It's a bit stuck & not v bendy. Dh tried & it hurt. Is this more of the loose ligament problem? He wants to use my ice to pack it in but I want to eat it Confused

Tyson86 · 03/09/2010 18:06

Elsa I got my TENS machine from Lloyds Pharmacy, its a Femme TENS machine.

floozie Sorry to hear about your bad nights

lilmiss Congrats to your friend!

My ds has been enrolled into play group today, he starts on the 14/09/10 twice a week, i am very excited for him. Hopefully Sophie will not come early and arrive on his first week. Grin

Booked appointment with new mw for next thursday, she has to look at my bedroom to see if its suitable but she was abit short on the phone so im abit overly nervous about it now.

I managed to get some really good bits on freecycle today, one is a mini nursing pillow and another is a sleep positioner, both never been used! Also got a lovely swaddle blanket.

nymphadora · 03/09/2010 18:08

Why would your bed room not be suitable? Don't think it's really her call ...

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 03/09/2010 19:21

Nymph- could be carpal tunnel syndrome type thing? If it doesn't get better over the weekend get it checked out- sounds strange!!

Tyson-hope the homebirth check goes ok :) good freecycling!

lilmiss- pester them- it's the only thing that's works-crying is even better Grin

Ilgh-welcome back, hope you had a fab time. How you feeling?

Shieldbug-glad you had a lovely anniversary :)

Floozie congrats on test results.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 03/09/2010 19:26

Anyone else with an iPhone struggle with posting long posts?!

I'm good; sore and sleep is sometimes fab, sometimes not. Saw mw yesterday- bump is no longer breech and head was 4/5ths engaged Shock I'm 36 weeks tomorrow so I have to get my head around the fact it's happening lol

Still trying to get bits sorted. Saw a friend today who has a 3mth old and dd same age as my ds- she was coping but it looked hard hard work- I don't see how I can bf and chase a hyper toddler Confused

Hope everyone's ok :)

Tyson86 · 03/09/2010 19:39

Nymph They just have to check, like to make sure it is big enough and clean enough. I won't have my new floor or bed by next week though so she won't see it for how nice it will look in the end!

DillyDora · 03/09/2010 19:47

Hey - does it matter which TENS machine I get? I didn't realise there would be so much choice....

Tyson very envious of your homebirth, just not brave enough...so hoping I get into the birth centre at the local hospital (which is tres glam, like a boutique hotel, much posher than home!

Hermya321 · 03/09/2010 19:59

Nymph Yeah it was, I wasn't best impressed to be honest.

Tyson How did it go with the midwife?

Dilly I had a look round my birth centre, they do seem to have a hotel like feel to them don't they.

Shieldbug Congratulations!! I know what you mean about the ribs, mine feel so sore at the moment. LO seems to hook his foot in them and then starts to flick it back and fourth.
