Just bagged a few maternity wear bargains at Mothercare. Skirts and dresses reduced, again, from £30 to £5!

Had a scary interaction with the bra section - I now seem to be a 40DD!

BEKsmum · 19/08/2005 21:12

Evening girls, dh is lurking waiting to play his game, so will gabble away and then bugger off.

Well done Rodeo, what would we do without you.

Same here with the cat, poor thing comes 2nd place now but makes her feelings known very vocally. I did buy cat nets for the moses basket & cot but found them to thick to see the baby through so quickly binned them. Just be really firm with the cat and shift it any time it goes near the baby's room or things, they do get used to it. Unfortunately we got our cat because she was kicked out of her first home because a baby arrived so we had to tread very carefully, ben and her now have a love hate relationship, they love to torment each other!!!

Twinkle snap with the finances realised I've got to get the car mot & taxed this week, thought I'd only had the car two years not three - bugger, plus have huge pre-school bill to pay too - yah boo sucks to earning no money - ooppps shouldn't say that when the others are only just finding out the joys of being a SAHM . By the way does Avon distribution really work 'cos I'm going to have to do something when this one arrives but am always a bit skeptical as I did Beterware with my mum when I was younger but we never really got any results from it?

Wow goldenoldie those will be coming round corners before you will soon!

Nova did you go to the dr re your odema, if you get any really severe headdaches call the mw just to make sure that pre-eclampsia doesn't sneak up on you.

Right best go as dh is now waiting!!! Speak to you all over the weekend Beks

KristinaM · 20/08/2005 12:12

Morning girls, hope you are all surviving the third trimester . We are off to picnic with friends today so I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone.

Nova - sorry to hear you are feeling so bad. I agree with the others - you need to get it checked out in case you have pre eclampsia. You cant wait til Monday!

Enthusia - I'm not a medical person like twinkle...but i think they worry more about infections during pregnancy because your immune system is supressed anyway, so your body is less able to fight infection. I'm sure the dr is just being thorough. If your crp is up and they cant find anything in particular like a uti, they might put you on a broad spectrum antibiotic just in case. They will only give you one that is safe in pregnancy and it wont affect the baby. I just had two different antibiotics as my asthma got really bad & they wanted to be sure i didnt have a chest infection or urt infection.HTH

Goldenoldie - snap about the bra!!! I had to buy a new bra to go with a black dress for a function ( as opposed to the horrid white lacy granny nursing bras I've been wearing for ages). My normal nursing bras are a 32 and I now measure a 38 !!!! And I know my boobs haven't grown during this pregnancy - its just my ribcage has expanded so much. I hadnt really noticed as the old bras stretch and they have lots of hooks on the back! How sad is that - no wonder none of my shirts fit! And you have the excuse of two babies!

tessasmum · 20/08/2005 12:24

At last, managed to get on to computer! Think that's 3 days of no access which must be a record when we are at home but DH has been busy doing work stuff on it and I've got no-where near it. Got a window of opportunity now as he has gone out to cut the grass and Tessa is alternating between standing at the back door asking him if he's finished and hiding behind the sofa cushions as she doesn't really like the noise

Had a good midwife's appointment yesterday, with Tessa and her nurse's bag in tow for the first time. I had explained what would happen, especially as it involved taking blood and the 1st Anti-D injection, and we have been practicing on each other all week, she especially liked the idea of injecting my bottom When it came to it she was fascinated and the midwife and her assistant were great with her, really involving her. Everything is going well, baby is head-down at the moment and heartbeat sounds great - I'm sure it sounds slower than Tessa's did and I was told by one midwife then that there must be a girl in there as the heartbeat was fast. Makes me wonder if its a boy this time.
Got a brilliant reaction when I asked when we started to talk seriously about a homebirth. Midwife hadn't picked up at the booking appointment that I was interested and is delighted, the community team here are really keen and have a higher than average rate of homebirths (3% compared with 2% nationwide - not enormous but at least going the right way!) All I need now is for the rest of this pg to go as well as it has so far and we'll be well away!

Well done on all the bargains people, we are off to Cambridge this afternoon and I'll have to see if I can drag them into DP's and Mothercare. Bit miffed as the nicest pair of maternity trousers I got from ebay are nearly too small and I don't think I am that big (must do the loo roll thing again!)

Busy - really love the wedding outfit, I hope you got it at the sale price. I am really hoping that an Asain outfit I spent a fortune on for a Bengali wedding when pg with Tessa will still fit but I've got 4 -5 weeks to go and am expecting a growth spurt between now and then!

Hope you are having a good w/e everyone. Will try and get back on tomorrow but won't hold my breath, have to compete with CBeebies too

novadandypowder · 20/08/2005 15:19

Feeling a bit better today, although my hands are still puffy and a bit stiff. Not too worried about pre-eclampsia as only had m/w check up last friday and she said my BP was slightly lower than normal and my bloods and urine were fine. I'm back there on friday for another check up so i'll mention it then. It's just another excuse to put my feet up .

Can finally start on the nursery now as the window fitters have fixed the roof window after much rain.

We will never beat the Dec. ladies as they chat sooo much, and are determined to beat the MN record for number of threads.

GoldenOldie, what fab bargains!! I like the end of sales, particularly this year as there's so much stuff left where the shops have been quiet (due to people trying to bomb the lovely city I live in).

Sewing workshop went well on thursday, i can now make clothes from easy patterns (ie: no zips or buttons), will have to sign up to the next one to learn how to do that. Have decided I now want a new sewing machine though, much do DH's relief as that means he doesn't have to think about what to get me for my 30th. There was another pg woman on the course with the tiniest bump ever and she only had 4 weeks to go!!!

I'm beginning to feel like a reverse camel. DH wants to do some nice photos a la Demi Moore but I've told him he can forget that as I'm not a fan of bump at the mo.

twinkle1 · 20/08/2005 17:48

beksmum, yes avon distribution is normaly quite good.you can order online and it always comes on the same day at the same time with the same carrier!!
I normally put in around a 800 quid order and the accuracy is pretty good on that order i might have one or two things that are missing or they r running late with. I find it is the best thing to fit in around the kids.I do mine on an eve after dh gets in from work,it gives me some me time without kids and extra cash.
Hope everything is going ok with everyone, im having a bit of a panic now about all the stuff that needs to be sorted before sprout arrives. There seems to be so much but at least the kids go back in two weeks I love the both lots but i need a rest

Hi everyone...new thread...yay!
I am feeling awful but won't go on about it..
Glad to hear you are ok Nova
I actual never expected pregnancy would affect me so much..
I imagined myself dashing around, close to due date,Glowing in lovely clothes, buying baby stuff with a nice neat bump and no stresses...but the reality is very very different!
Good news is..I have taken up a hobby! started embroidering a plain blanket from debenhams with trains all around the edge..it will take me ages , but i have nothing better to do so it's lovely!
Hasd to miss pilates this week as my spd was killer! but its all good.and the teacher is a tad annoying anyway..I may look elsewhere..she actually says 'imagine your vagina as a flower..open it up girld'..i can imagine this visualisation is helpful, but it seems a tad cliched...?
we wanted to buy the pram soon, but as advised by you guys we should go to a shop and try it out properly..only prob is there arent any big shops near here so we have to wait a month til my mum can come down and take us ..ah well!

BEKsmum · 21/08/2005 19:05

Evening girls, thanks for that Twinkle I will consider it more seriously once bump arrives.

Bob sorry to hear you're not enjoying this pregnancy lark, it's not as glamourous as they make out is it!

WE've just got back from a lovely day in Hastings, spur of the moment decision last night so we were up and out early this morning. Ben had a fantastic time on the bumper cars with his daddy shouting more bumps all the way round! They also went on the rollercoaster which he loves and played crazy golf, all rounded off with a bag of tooth rot - I mean candyfloss

Bump has been dancing a tango in my tummy today, so it should sleep well tonight which would be a bonus 'cos I'm knackered. Hope everyone else is having a good weekend, speak to you all tomorrow Beks (28wks hooray)

Bow down, because you are in the presence of the Queen of Flat Pack Furniture

I have single handedly built the entire nursery - cot/changing unit, chest of drawers, and additional under cot drawers, with only a few swear words along the way. It came in 11 different boxes so it took me an hour just to work out which bit went with which (as they cleverly hadn't labelled all the pieces).

I don't know if this is 'nesting' but I've basically re-designed the room that is now the nursery, and our bedroom. Now I just need to transfer this energy onto painting and I'll be away, but I can't stand painting. I swap if anyone needs furniture building and wants to come and paint my house?

Hope you all had a lovely weekend - I need a rest after mine x

Morning all

Well done Nova - I have also been nesting - but mine has come in the form of BUYING . Have just bought our changing unit. Decided to go for a piece of furniture we can use in the house later when baby has grown up, so bought a very sturdy pine sideboard from ebay. It looks fab, have to go and pick it up on Wednesday, hope it will fit in our estate car, it is 1.6M long!!!!! Have seen other friends use sideboards as changing tables etc, and they seem so useful as long enough to fit quite a bit of stuff on so close at hand, plus it has three drawers and three cupboards to plently of storage. Was also £90 cheaper than the one I originally wanted from IKEA, hooray - also bought a baby bath thing and am bidding on a pattern for a cross stitch design I'd like to do for our birth announcement cards! ebay is addictive!!!!!

Nova - you now have me going into a sewing frenzy and am thinking about making the cot bumpers etc as I can't find one I like but I know what I want.

Am also going to Lakeside all day Wednesday as Dh is working around there, more spending Hooray!!! And I dob't feel guilty as all is for a good cause and I'm saving money!!!

Today I am going to paint an old wardrobe we have for bub's room and then tmrw rearrange room and put cot together - soooooo exciting!!!

Hope you are all ok

hamster · 22/08/2005 09:43

Hello,
Thought I would drop in and see how everyone is doing. Ok I hope!
Been mad busy lately. Since I finished work last week, it seems like there are a thousand and one things to do around the house now. Non-stop!

I had my midwife appointment last week. All is fine. Heart beat good-agree though Tessasmum, it sounds slower this time round. Ds' was quicker I'm sure. Anyway, had some blood taken. Midwife had run out of anti-D jabs, so I've got to go back tomorrow

It seems like some of you are in "decorate" mode at the moment...nesting of a kind I think! I've just started painting DS' new bedroom if that counts!

Is anyone else just really fed up with being pg now? Well I am (bah humbug!)
I can no longer do my shoes up without dislocating my leg, eating is a joke, as after 2 mouthfuls I'm full-yet 5 minutes later I'm starving, and trying to stand up on my own is an extreme amusment to all around. grrrrr, roll on 40 weeks!

Anyway, enough of my moaning.
I'll catch up with you all soon....take care!

novadandypowder · 22/08/2005 09:56

Enthusia - get sewing I say!! It's the best way to get what you want, and you can co-ordinate the room with a design of your choice. I've gone for plain white furniture, but I'm going to make a lining for baskets that i'm putting on the shelves in the same fabric as the curtains.

I'm shopping today - picking up the travel system and buying all the baby things to go in the nursery, it's going to be so hard to control myself

Hamster - I was fed up with being pg months ago, in fact from about week 7 when the sickness kicked in. I'm just trying to keep myself busy in the hope that before I know it I'll be in labour.

BEKsmum · 22/08/2005 11:05

Morning girls, cor get you lot with your nesting instincts! I'm very impressed with you all! Have to agree with the bored of being pregnant idea, needed a hand up on the beach yesterday, all very embarrassing

I've spent my morning shopping around for car insurance & have saved myself a grand total of £114 - hooray, will be swapping from Directline to Privilege.

Twinkle, pants weather here today too, I bet when the kids go back to school the weather will be great again.

We're off to my sil's for lunch today so that our boys can play together so will speak to you all later Beks

yingers74 · 22/08/2005 11:34

yes, totally get the fed up of being pregnant state. Find it hard to fall asleep at night which makes chasing a toddler around during the day really hard work, and back is starting to ache. Can't stand, lie down or sit for too long and basically have no nesting instinct so house is a mess!

Am debating whether or not to buy a double buggy or not. dd will be 2 and 9 months when dd2 is born. what do you think? Not sure dd will be willing to walk everywhere, but how much usage will i get out of it?

And it is my five year anniversary today and bizarrely am going out with a friend tonight not my dh!!! Hopefully will be able to do something nice at the weekend. Since having kiddies, seems our birthdays and anniversaries have been severely neglected!!!! Still waiting for dh to take me out for my 30th b-day(dec)! Can't wait for the baby to come!

29 wks plus 3

SharonTW1 · 22/08/2005 12:00

Hello everyone, you all sound well and busy , I'm still working and getting fed up , infact so much so spent the day in tears yesterday poor dh was getting upset asking what was wrong and I really couldn't tell him because I didn't know myself. We are pretty skint too and trying to do house up and it's all a mess and upside down right now so I suppose it's a bit of everything.
Feel guilty being upset when I'm pregnant after so long but sure will be fine today.
You can shout at me but I'm glad it's raining really suits my mood today - sorry x

Aw..my last post seems to have gotten lost and didn't appear..so apologies if it reappears and i repeat myself.
I am glad i'm not alone in being a bit of a grump...
sure it will all be worth it when the tiny tot makes his appearance!
I feel like my body and brain have been taken over by pregnancy..
dp gets very frustrated when we are talking about books/films etc and my attention drifts and i can only manage grunts or barely formed sentences before reaching for the mothercare catalogue! teehhee
i'm a little concerned today as have felt no movements at all...i was up half the night in pain and baby was very active then, but haven't felt anything since this morning
could it just be a 'lazy day' for him?
maybe he too is upset at this awful weather and has gone into hibernation..hehehe

babyonboard · 22/08/2005 17:08

and by the way..so impressed you know roman numerals for naming these threads..i wouldn't have a clue!

BEKsmum · 22/08/2005 18:11

Right girls just for a bit of fun I am going to have a go at putting this sweepstake together but have forgotten who knows what so cat me with whether you know what you're having or not, and your guesses for your own actual delivery day & the weight of your baby.

Once I've got a clear idea of who knows what they are having the rest of us can guess on the sex of the remaining babies

Would suggest we guess on who's going to deliver first other than Rodeo who knows it's at 37 weeks!

Who's going to be last

Biggest & smallest babies plus weights if you want.

Right got to go as I'm cooking chilli, speak to you all later Beks
