This is somewhat inspired by the resurrected prettiest girls name you know thread.

I wondered when you went to school what was the girl with the name you likes the most called?

I didnt grow up in the UK but for me her name was Karina. I thought her name was so pretty and unusual (it's a fairly normalish name for my generation in Denmark think top 50-100) but oh I had name.envy. grew out of it and Karina never even entered the consideration for my own children.😁

I don't like it so much now but I really loved her name at school and wanted it for myself. Grin

Not at school but knew a Carina who was a couple of years older and very kind and artistic indeed I loved her name so much. So much so I did consider it for DD 😄
At school it was all Laura, Louise, Lisa, Kelly, Clare, Elizabeth, Victoria, Emily, Charlotte, Sophie etc

Elsa as it seemed so exotic amongst the 60's names.

Sunsetboater · 14/02/2024 07:24

Isobel - she had the most glorious dark brown curly hair.

Leonie and Naomi.

Onelife2024 · 14/02/2024 07:31

Imogen, Leonie, Annalise and Lindsay all sounded so exotic in a sea of Emma, Louise and Sarah’s!

Yvonne (spelt Evonne which I've never seen since so I assume was just invented?!)

Both with long glossy dark hair, very neat, perfect handwriting. I was in awe from age 4. (I always seemed to have lunches / juice that leaked, messy pencil case & the hair was a particularly tough point - in 80s Ireland when every girl had long hair, I had horrific pudding-bowl short hair at my mother's insistence. I had wavy / curly hair so one it grew at all it went in 10 different directions. Took till I was 15 to insist on growing it out & changed everything)

Zoe, she was beautiful and very cool!

Caitlyn (shortened to Cat)

ShoesoftheWorld · 14/02/2024 07:41

Natasha. Not that unusual really, but the only one in our locality.
I was also agog and deeply envious when I met a girl with TWO middle names - Elizabeth AND Louise [one generic name altered slightly for anonymity purposes]

When I started secondary school there was an older girl called Adrienne. I'm not so keen on it now, but at 12 I was thought it was such a beautiful name!

We had an Alicia in primary school. She was a pretty girl and I thought her name was very exotic at the time.
