Oddest sibling set you've come across

I recently met a Tiger and a Bob. Primary aged brothers, both lovely kids.

I also went to school with Claire and her brother Zephyr, and with sisters Beatrice, Georgiana, Victoria and...Cindy. Not short for anything, just Cindy.

Any sib sets you've come across that just don't seem to fit?

My kids names don't match because fir DS1 we didn't have the confidence to choose the more unusual name I wanted and went safe, but for the second went with something DS and I both loved. DS1 was always one of two ir 3 with the same name. I still love DS2's name. It's so cool and suits him to a tee! (Tbf DS1's name is nice but just totally different from DS2)

I once worked with a woman called Melissa, who had an identical twin sister called Melanie. That always seemed like an odd decision for the parents to make.

Weren’t they on Fun House with Pat Sharpe?

AmyandPhilipfan · 13/02/2024 21:03

I've always thought the queen's choices of Ann followed by Andrew were a bit too similar.

Boy called Fred and new baby sister named Rose

Awful!!!

MrsMuji · 13/02/2024 21:08

A close relative of mine has 4 lovely kids all beginning with the same letter, all gorgeous names but 2 of them sound ridiculously similar, it’s almost like a tongue twister. Thank god for nicknames!

Galeforcewindatmywindow · 13/02/2024 21:09

Four brothers I know are Ollie, Michael, James and... Indiana. The last one, just doesn't sound right!

bobisbored · 13/02/2024 21:23

Anastasia, Venetia and… bog standard Lucy.

I met someone used her older son’s middle name as her second son’s first. I found that a little odd.

I know someone who did the middle name as first name thing for 5 brothers.

Yesnosorryplease · 13/02/2024 21:26

DH has an aunt and uncle called Michelle and Michael. What were his grandparents thinking?

I work with a Mel(anie) who has a sister called Mel(issa). They both married men with the same name too. So their parents have eg Mel & Jon, Mel & Jon. Nightmare.

My mum worked with someone who was married to a Richard and they had sons called Tom and Harry. It was done knowingly though.

I always think it's odd when I see the Wayne and Colleen Rooneys kids - Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass - I wonder why Cass wasn't spelt with a K too!

My brain can't read Kai, Klay, Kit...
It says Klit every time.

I'd be shouting clit out in the park all the time 😣

Twins Oliver and Olivia. 😀

I work in education and have encountered twins

Daniel & Danielle, both known as Danny/I
Gabriel & Gabrielle, known as Gabe & Gabi
Anthony & Antonitsa, k/a Tony & Toni

I think that something must happen to parents of G/B twins that means they end up giving them both the same name.

My twins deliberately have v different names.

RunningForMySanity · 13/02/2024 21:34

also know families with matching names for first two then a non matching for third- eg Ruby, Jade and then Helen surely Amber or Saphire etc would fit better??

@fourelementary I am one of three sisters, two (not twins) with jewel/stone names and the third name completely non matching. Actually went on to name my own daughter a more logical ‘third jewel/stone sister’ name

Eggsley · 13/02/2024 21:34

My mum taught siblings Hayley, Kayley, Ashley and Dean.
