Can we really name our baby girl this?

Hi all,

I am currently 8 and a half months pregnant, myself and DP have been going back and forth on names for a while until we agreed on this around 2 months ago.

The name we would like to use for our girl is Halo.

Our baby's surname will be Raye

Is it too out there? We both love the name but would love to know what others think.

I've said the name a couple of times out loud and I must admit it is a bit of a mouthful, so I think it would be a No from me.

I don’t know. When I read Halo, I thought no, but with your surname is does kind of work. It’s very unusual. I’m on the fence.

No offence, but definitely no. She's not a product/brand, she will have to live with that name forever.. think of job interviews and her introducing herself as 'Halo'? It's a bizarre name honestly.

I guess we wanted something different. But we also don't want to make her stand out too much? We thought with our surname it may have made for a lovely name

With your surname it sounds like “hello Ray”

It's certainly different, I think it's lovely. Go for it if that's what you want to name her.

It seems a bit too much like Hello Ray to me.

How about using it as a middle name?
And something unusual but less so as a first name.

It's another Hello Ray here as well.

Can you add something in the middle or use Halo in the middle?

@RoseMartha good idea, we haven't really thought of anything else though as we were set on this.

I think halo has the potential to be a cool name. It conjures up images of gold, light and angels, which is nice for a girl imo

My only hesitation in your case is that halo raye sounds slightly jarring to my ears because they both have the same vowel sound if you see what I mean. But really who cares what I think... it's your call!

Halo is a nice name but I’m a teacher and can’t help cringing at the name being called out in class. It’s a bit like Apple Martin back in the day. Sorry…

Lifetime of pain if she's not angelic. And why should she be? Would you call a boy Halo?
The word sounds nice until you add your surname or consider the meaning. Honestly I'd go for something different.
