What would you say is the peak mumsnet baby name? What would Ms ‘tinkly laugh/no is a full sentence’ call her PFB?

I think I’m correct in saying:

girl: Elspeth (always suggested, why?!)
boy: Jago

Ptolemy

SaintLoy · 29/12/2022 20:27

I totally love the Ms ‘tinkly laugh/no is a full sentence’ thing.

DNAshelicase · 29/12/2022 20:31

I love the batshittery of controlling the nn. I’d love to see a real mumsnetter birth a Rebecca nn ‘keekee’ and silently seethe as her school friends shout ‘BECKEHH’ across the playground

One of the boy/girl name pairings is what we nearly named our twins!

Plus the fact that we have twins.... am I #peakMN???

Headabovetheparakeet · 29/12/2022 20:32

Just to clarify, I'm not saying I don't believe that anyone is called Ottilie, I just mean that it gets suggested so often on here that I'd expect to have come across one or two little Ottilies at the playground or nursery by now.

Catherine

Christopher

Sodullincomparison · 29/12/2022 20:36

I know an Otillie and a Kit (short for Christopher)

My daughter’s friends include Clementine, Eleanora, Avery, Daisy and Carlotta. We often joke them come from a back catalogue of Debutantes.

It's definitely Ottilie for a girl, maybe Hugo for a boy?

These were my thoughts, too!

Whatwhatwhatnow · 29/12/2022 20:38

My immediate thought was Ottilie too. Also Maeve, Elspeth and Elowen seem to get a lot of mentions.

For boys, anything ending in O. Theo, Hugo etc.

I actually do know an adult Christopher nn Kit.

Ottilie! Never heard of it in real life, sounds like something you use to clean your ears, but somehow always suggested on here.

Hangupsrus · 29/12/2022 20:42

Arlo
Esme

DarkShade · 29/12/2022 20:42

Well sod you all, almost all of my favoruite names mentioned - except my actual DC names, yet.

I would think Arabella for a girl, Theo for a boy. They get mentioned a fair bit on here. I do Kits across generations, I thought it was fairly standard nickname!

Baconand · 29/12/2022 20:42

I like most of these and we have a lot of them at our nursery! I like to think I am peak mumsnet but alas DD’s name hasn’t featured yet. I feel the need to take to my bed and wallow in self pity…..

KylieCharlene · 29/12/2022 20:43

Alice Elizabeth & Matilda Isabel

Edward Alexander & Hugo James

DarkShade · 29/12/2022 20:43

@Baconand only if you've changed your sheets this week, and not left them to dry in the dark, of course.

Rayna37 · 29/12/2022 20:48

I definitely thought Ottilie, never actually come across one despite DS's nursery being particularly full of Mumsnetty names including a Ptolemy (nn Tolly)

Mydogatemypurse · 29/12/2022 20:49

Oh shite like Kit, Posie, Arlo

Elderflower14 · 29/12/2022 20:51

I think it'd be Theodore and Persephone/Harlow dependent on whether or not they have a housekeeper Grin

I'd murder my parents if they had called me Persephone. Poor kid.

LightDrizzle · 29/12/2022 20:53

Ottillie
Gabriel/Raphael/Ruben

Blendandmix · 29/12/2022 20:54

Boy names like Michael, John etc

Luana1 · 29/12/2022 20:54

Oliver or Zephyr for a boy
