What would you say is the peak mumsnet baby name? What would Ms ‘tinkly laugh/no is a full sentence’ call her PFB?

I think I’m correct in saying:

girl: Elspeth (always suggested, why?!)
boy: Jago

Came here to say it's definitely Ottilie.
Also Cressida and Mary.

Ptolemy

It’s always mentioned, but I do not know of any children that are called this, and I live in a ‘north London mumsnet area’ where you’d think it would be likely to hear it!!

Ottilie.

Literally never come across one in real life, or even heard someone mention it as a potential name for their baby.

I came across this name recently - it was to do with fundraising in memory of a stillborn baby girl - it wasn't a name I had ever heard of before and I thought it was rather beautiful - I wondered if it was French ?

DotDotDotDotDot · 29/12/2022 20:06

Definitely Elizabeth for a girl. Apparently everyone needs at least 15 possible nicknames and under no circumstances can you decide for them what that will be.

@Anewhoo , If you add the figures for Theo and Theodore, it is by far the top name

Christopher ‘nn Kit’
Ottilie ‘nn Ottie’
Cecelia ‘nn Cece’

Or something with a complete stretch of a ‘nickname’ eg. Lucy but Alexandria on the BC

All of the above imagined in a posh voice

Exactly! This must be the most popular mumsnet name by probability alone!!!

Barnaby
Ptolemy - I’m never sure if it’s a joke when someone mentions this name?
Juniper

FOTTFSOFTFOASM · 29/12/2022 20:13

It'll be "Ottilie-pronounced-Otterly-Wrongly" on MN.

That for a girl and, as PP have said, Christopher nn Kit for a boy. It's always something-nn-something.

I'm not going with Harlow, though. That's on a par with Harper, Jackson and all those bollocks names.

TheBirdintheCave · 29/12/2022 20:15

@ReindeerBelieve It's German :)

Mumsnet babies are Clementine nn Clemmie, or Ottilie, and Alexander nn Xander or Sacha.

Clementine or Araminta. Or Cordelia (but that's my 17 year old cat, so I approve).

Boys maybe Henry, George, Alexander.

HyggeTygge · 29/12/2022 20:21

Lysander
Ottilie

Mindystryder · 29/12/2022 20:23

I agree with Ottilie and Kit. I was chatting to someone the other day who said these are the names she'd call any future babies and I immediately had her pegged as a mumsnetter. I have only ever heard those names on here before that conversation! Also everyone seems to love Alice and James.

Ottilie.

Literally never come across one in real life, or even heard someone mention it as a potential name for their baby.

My mum was very fond of Ottilie Patterson, an Irish jazz and blues singer, and actually met her more than once.

romdowa · 29/12/2022 20:26

Surely its garryanne?
