This is not meant to be bitchy at all because I LOVE that people do this (subconsciously maybe?). I think most of them haven’t realised or didn’t until a few years after naming their kids! So they’re not really contrived themey names, more coincidental. My own kids accidentally have musicals-related names.

I know siblings:

Fred and Barney (flintstones)
Ariel(la) and Sebastian (little mermaid)
Madeline and Margaret (Maddie and Maggie)
Matilda (Tilly) and Billy
Henry and Harriet (essentially the same name)

and mums and kids:
Ellie and Ollie
Ellie and Belle

I know of at least 3 families with a Sam and Ella!!

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 14/09/2022 19:15

Like your Harry / Harriet example - I am on loads of baby groups on Facebook and once saw a birth announcement celebrating the arrival of a little Georgia...baby sister to George! I was quite baffled at that.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 14/09/2022 19:19

I wouldn’t think of Henry and Harriet as the same name. Harry and Harriet maybe but I would see Henry as a different name and on in its own right now even if the origin is the same (Harold I assume?)

On instagram there is someone who often appears on my ‘suggested reels’ with twins who are either called Belle and Ella or Elle and Bella, I can never remember which way around and the names seem ridiculously similar to me, especially for twins.

Over the years I have known 3 separate sets of sisters called Karen and Carol
They must have very unimaginative parents 🤣

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 14/09/2022 19:21

My mil was Gwendolyn... Her dsis was Lynne.
Odd.

Vampirethriller · 14/09/2022 19:22

I know a Lia and Liam.

Loachworks · 14/09/2022 19:24

My dad had DS Annabelle and Isabelle, although known as Annie and Ella I always thought it strange.

Smilingwithfangs · 14/09/2022 19:24

I knew twins called Emily and Millie which is basically the same name and DD is at school with someone who has siblings called Harry and Henry- again, isn’t that the same name?

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 14/09/2022 19:25

I know an adult Alistair and Alison; three sets of siblings where the eldest's name begins with A and the second/last's begins with Z.

And I have 3 sets of cousins called Joe and Chris.

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 14/09/2022 19:25

Mil gave her dc1 a name like Mark Richard and dc 2 Richard..
.

CallMeLinda · 14/09/2022 19:26

My dad has cousins- sisters- called Caroline and Carole! Not twins or anything, and not, AFAIK, named after a family member or anything.
I was also at school with an Anna who had an elder sister called Hannah.Just odd!

Puffykins · 14/09/2022 19:27

3 sisters, Dora, Nora and Laura

Also I know of someone who only liked two names, so when she had DS2 she just reversed DS1's name - think Sebastian Frederick and Frederick Sebastian.

I know twins called Annabelle and Isabelle. I find it strange too.

I'm the 4th girl. My parents couldn't think of a 4th girls name so they named me my sister's middle name! My sister when she got older started to double barrell her first and middle name much to my annoyance!

SpaghettiSquash · 14/09/2022 19:32

Bella, Annie and Annabelle!

Adventing · 14/09/2022 19:37

I've known at least two Sam and Ellas. I knew a family at primary school with a Christopher and Robin and a third child with a non Winnie the Pooh related name. Also a Shane and Dane

Houselamp · 14/09/2022 19:44

Rory and Aurora,

Charlie and Lola

Leila, Lila and Lacey,

Victoria, Henrietta, Bartholomew and Todd. I met Henrietta who only ever goes by her full name, as an adult and was just suprised by Todd.

Michael, Freddie and Annabelle- sort of wondered if their parents really liked horror films

MsSquiz · 14/09/2022 19:52

My DM had cousins who were siblings called Janet and John, and they were born in the 50s or 60s

Bemyclementine · 14/09/2022 19:55

Belle and Sebastian.

CassTheFox · 14/09/2022 20:00

Brothers William and Edward. Bill and Ted. Which is excellent ☺️

Peter Crouch and Abi Clancey have sons called Jonny and Jack, which I always thought were basically the same name? A good name, but the same name

But Henry is to Harry as Henrietta is to Harriet. Harriet is derived from Henrietta.

I know a dad Dane with son Zane but I think they knew what they were doing, not really coincidental.

I was shocked at meeting adult twins Dick and Nick until they told me that their parents named them Richard and Nicholas and the rhyming names were their own invention! 🤣

MassiveSalad22 · 14/09/2022 20:05

@theresnoonequitelikegrandma haha love that!

Gabriella and Isabella bit of a tongue twister

DisplayPurposesOnly · 14/09/2022 20:09

In my extended family tree, there are a few sister pairings, Eliza and Elizabeth. I find it weird that 'back then' they were considered different names.
