This is not meant to be bitchy at all because I LOVE that people do this (subconsciously maybe?). I think most of them haven’t realised or didn’t until a few years after naming their kids! So they’re not really contrived themey names, more coincidental. My own kids accidentally have musicals-related names.

I know siblings:

Fred and Barney (flintstones)
Ariel(la) and Sebastian (little mermaid)
Madeline and Margaret (Maddie and Maggie)
Matilda (Tilly) and Billy
Henry and Harriet (essentially the same name)

and mums and kids:
Ellie and Ollie
Ellie and Belle

My nanna was known to us as Mary. She had a sister who was known as Nancy.

However, their real names were Hannah Matilda and Hannah Maria respectively. Why on Earth they were both called Hannah baffles us all!

sort of related, my mum knew a staunch Irish Catholic family when I was a child. They had a number of girls. All had the first name Mary! (think like Mary Anne, Mary Theresa, Mary Kathleen etc). They all were known by the second name. Your post suddenly made me remember them and smile!

This is SO outing that I might as well have changed my username to my first and surname.

However we accidentally did this with the twins.

Castiel
Azekiel

The spelling thing didn't actually register until we registered them. Pronounced differently (ee-el and ee-ul) but still 😂

However the rhyming middle names was deliberate if hormone induced. Think like eldest was like Tim, then we really liked Jim but ended up using it as a middle name for twin 1 so deliberately found a matching name say Kym for the second twin

I know a set of brothers called Jack and John which I always find weird as they're effectively the same name.

I know a Jo and Joe (Joanne and Joseph, respectively). Nothing subconscious about it though, their parents were quite clear that it was a deliberate choice.

takeasadsongandmakeitbetter · 14/09/2022 22:26

Distant family member has 5 girls all with names that are an anagram of her own (plus the odd extra letter) all of the children's names have the same initial and some are practically the same name and sound the same.... I read the whole post the see if anyone else knew them and had mentioned it! - utterly crazy to me

The lady in the bed next to my sister on the post natal ward had twins, Mickey & Minnie. The new mum took great delight in informing my sister they honeymooned in DisneyWorld. Poor kids!
