This is not meant to be bitchy at all because I LOVE that people do this (subconsciously maybe?). I think most of them haven’t realised or didn’t until a few years after naming their kids! So they’re not really contrived themey names, more coincidental. My own kids accidentally have musicals-related names.

I know siblings:

Fred and Barney (flintstones)
Ariel(la) and Sebastian (little mermaid)
Madeline and Margaret (Maddie and Maggie)
Matilda (Tilly) and Billy
Henry and Harriet (essentially the same name)

and mums and kids:
Ellie and Ollie
Ellie and Belle

Brothers William and Edward. Bill and Ted. Which is excellent ☺️

Peter Crouch and Abi Clancey have sons called Jonny and Jack, which I always thought were basically the same name? A good name, but the same name

How is Johnny and Jack the same name?

How is Johnny and Jack the same name?

Jack started as a pet form of John.

JFK, Jack Nicholson, Jack White are/were all named John, but known as Jack.

Feel like most of these were intentional by the parents!

I know parents John and Anne with daughter Joanne which I actually rather like.

The Queen has children called Anne and Andrew.

That’s a good one! You don’t notice at first, and then you… do, I guess 😄 that’s what I’m looking for haha.

My nanna was known to us as Mary. She had a sister who was known as Nancy.

However, their real names were Hannah Matilda and Hannah Maria respectively. Why on Earth they were both called Hannah baffles us all!

DD1 had brothers in her class called William Jack & William Harry - it was a family thing, all boys were called William & went by their middle names.

There was a girl is DS's class called Erin Abbie, her older sister was called Abbie Erin.

JenniferWooley · 15/09/2022 07:13

I also used to work with someone who had twins called Ben & Holly - they would've been about 4 when the programme started so just unfortunate. She was always careful to refer to them as Holly & Ben.

I'm the 4th girl. My parents couldn't think of a 4th girls name so they named me my sister's middle name! My sister when she got older started to double barrell her first and middle name much to my annoyance!

My mum is the youngest of 10 and my grandparents had obviously run out of ideas, so her middle name is Norma.

I mean, really...🤷🏻‍♀️

Ameanstreakamilewide · 15/09/2022 07:23

At 6th form I knew a kid called Bernard.

Bless him, he was such a character. As soon as he told you his name, he'd see 'that look' on your face; then he'd say 'my parents hated me'.

minisoksmakehardwork · 15/09/2022 07:33

I knew a Dean and Deanna growing up. Sibling pair. Always struck me as odd. But 3 of my 4 dc have the same first initial so I can see how things happen sometimes.

MassiveSalad22 · 15/09/2022 08:58

Also Joseph and Zoë Sugg (of strictly come dancing/Zoella fame) - Joe and Zoe - good example of why punctuation/diaeresis are important!

Why?

Thats a normal name?

pawkins · 15/09/2022 09:06

I know a woman called Jo who married a man called Joe. That would put me off any unisex names. Also know a Lesley who is married to a Wesley.

ladygindiva · 15/09/2022 09:12

Dp has sibling cousins called Garry and Barry. Just...why ???

ladygindiva · 15/09/2022 09:13
