I’ll go first, I hate to say but I genuinely think nevaeh has such a pretty sound but the name itself tends to get alot of hate.
HelenofaccringtonX · 12/06/2022 18:09
😅yours is similar to mine. I had a really Irish cool teacher called Niamh when i was in secondary school so I am thinking maybe that for my kid if it's a girl but people always pronounce it wrong so hate it.

Niamh is nothing like Nevaeh!
Niamh is quite popular now so people are learning to say is properly.
KirstenBlest · 12/06/2022 19:29
Most names are fine, but I don't like names being mispronounced, such as Niamh, where the mispronounced version becomes mainstream
I like 'middle-aged' names like Darren, Gary and Nigel

I've never known Niamh to be mispronounced? What is the mispronunciation that is now mainstream?
SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 12/06/2022 19:36
I quite like a lot of 'unpopular' names like Gary and Terry. I just think they sound mint on little kids
toastofthetown · 12/06/2022 19:41
Lambrini. Beautiful name, means bright, brilliant, shining. Started a thread on it once but everyone was so quick to share their "witty" jokes they didn't bother to consider that it could well be a normal name in another language.
ForestFae · 12/06/2022 19:45
I nearly called DD Persephone, which sometimes gets a lot of hate when it’s mentioned.
Galvanisa · 12/06/2022 19:49
I love Mercedes. Nn Mercy.
doesn’t really work outside a Spanish speaking country though.
StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 12/06/2022 19:50
I like Georgia which always gets blasted on mn.

Thank you. DH and I like names with presence.
Doublevodka · 12/06/2022 19:54
I was talking about this recently with my daughter. It’s not a name but chlamydia sounds like it could be a name. We agreed it’s quite cute 😂
napody · 12/06/2022 19:59
I love 'Sharon'. Just a beautiful name that's been ruined by piss taking.
SummaLuvin · 12/06/2022 20:00
I love all of the below, ut each has had poor reception here and in real life.
Frank - horrible and ugly according to recent thread
Dolores - links to Lolita make it an issue for some people
Margarita - the obvious pizza and cocktail jokes
Readytogogogo · 12/06/2022 20:06
I think Irene is a lovely name. DH very much vetoed it.
dropthevipers · 12/06/2022 20:09
My dad was going to call me Hereward (after Hereward the Wake-anglo saxon head case) till mum put her foot down. Think I might have liked it.

I like Georgia too! I also like Dixie (and in the new "woke" America, that goes about as well as Hitler -- maybe worse.)
Comedycook · 12/06/2022 20:11
Tiffany
I would have loved to call my DD it but every single person was negative about it

Honaloulou · 12/06/2022 21:32

Love it too!
Tryagain2020 · 12/06/2022 21:36
I really like the sound of Sharon too.
I like lots of 1960s names that aren't popular here.
Someone mentioned Zerelda which was slated but I think it's rather fabulous.

My son had someone in his school with this name, now aged early twenties.
sheepandcaravan · 12/06/2022 21:36
@Galvanisa so do I. I even secretly love the character on hollyoaks when I don't watch as an adult!
Mumsnet hate my girls names, to girly and flowery but I waited fifteen years for them and I love them.
GreatCuppa · 12/06/2022 23:48
I really like Georgia!
I hate Nevaeh, why does it always have to be explained that it’s heaven spelt backwards. We know. Everybody knows. It’s still terrible.
