Thelma.

What do you think? It's definitely original these days. Not sure it's shaken off the cobwebs yet though!

It's another that's very pretty if taken at face value, yet I agree it's not yet shaken off the cobwebs.
But I've noticed how quickly some old fashioned names have come back into fashion that wouldn't have been considered 5 years ago.

TyneFilth · 06/07/2021 19:18

I know a 38 year old Thelma.

TatianaBis · 06/07/2021 19:18

I think it needs to go back in the closet.

Tlollj · 06/07/2021 19:18

Always connected to Louise now.

notmethenwho · 06/07/2021 19:24

Or scooby

notmethenwho · 06/07/2021 19:24

@notmethenwho

Or scooby
Or was that Velma?
Peering2021 · 06/07/2021 19:25

Grin maybe not yet then! I had a great aunty Thelma, maybe that's why I quite like it.

I see your Thelma and I raise you Beryl. Doubt that will ever make a comeback either!

DramaAlpaca · 06/07/2021 19:27

It hasn't been revived for a very good reason. It's horrible!

WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld · 06/07/2021 19:28

I love Thelma.

CompleteBarstool · 06/07/2021 19:29

What about Gladys, that's not made a comeback yet has it?

30not13 · 06/07/2021 19:30

Doubt we will ever see another Doris or Doreen

NoBetterthanSheShouldBe · 06/07/2021 19:30

The Likely Lads series killed that name off for me.

AuntMasha · 06/07/2021 19:31

Cynthia?

Comedycook · 06/07/2021 19:31

I can see Doris having a revival

Peering2021 · 06/07/2021 19:31

I also like Gloria. There was a Gloria on Dickinson's Real Deal earlier I think that's swaying me.

For the record I am in m 40s and have two massive teens not planning another but am just lately broody. I hope it's OK to post here.

Doris is a sweet name when you just hear it, as opposed to thinking of old ladies.

Lowrylake · 06/07/2021 19:35

Nooo - awful. I do quite like Thora though, and Vera.

PearlFriday · 06/07/2021 19:38

I like Beryl more than Thelma

Selma is usable though, imo

quizqueen · 06/07/2021 19:39

Just watching Bake Off repeats- there's always Prudence or Prunella!

Nancydrawn · 06/07/2021 19:40

Bertha probably also not coming back (though properly pronounced it's a great name).

StarryStarrySocks · 06/07/2021 19:43

I love Bertha! Was trying to persuade my cousin to name her daughter Bertha, she was having none of it! Grin Martha's extremely popular so why not Bertha?

FindingMeno · 06/07/2021 19:45

Oh Thelma is going to be a while yet before reappearing - if ever!

thecognoscenti · 06/07/2021 19:46

Objectively a nice name I think. I love Thora too.

Peering2021 · 06/07/2021 19:48

I used to know a very lovely elderly Prunella!
