me and DH watched Enola Holmes recently with his nieces and would love the same name for DD. We do thinks it's a little different though! Any thoughts??

Awful. Reads and sounds like the Ebola disease

midsomermurderess · 27/09/2020 18:59

Ebola Gay is not a good association.

Ickabog · 27/09/2020 18:59

Really sorry OP but I read it as Ebola.

ncqtime · 27/09/2020 18:59

Enola gay. It will be googled and used for bullying.

bruffin · 27/09/2020 19:00

Alone backwards😜

bellinisurge · 27/09/2020 19:00

Enola Gay. The name of the plane that dropped the first atomic bomb. Google it. And the song by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark of the same name that was a massive hit in the 80s. Therefore not an obscure reference.

That would be: absolutely never use that name

Valkadin · 27/09/2020 19:01

The Enola Gay was the first plane to ever drop an atomic bomb. Not everyone is interested in history but I wouldn’t name a child with a name connected with that.

BikeRunSki · 27/09/2020 19:01

I was just watching the film with dd and was thinking it was a rather nice name. Fantastic character too, but the Hiroshima connection is not great.

DramaAlpaca · 27/09/2020 19:01

No. For all the reasons above.

NiceGerbil · 27/09/2020 19:03

Enola gay here as well op.

Aquamarine1029 · 27/09/2020 19:04

Horrible, op. She would be bullied being called Ebola all through school. Please don't do that to a child.

katy1213 · 27/09/2020 19:06

Ebola my first thought, too. I like Covida though.

emilybrontescorsett · 27/09/2020 19:06

Enola Gay for me too.

MazDazzle · 27/09/2020 19:08

There’s 2 Enolas in this area, although one has a different spelling.

I doubt small children know about Ebola or Enola Gay.

JellyBert · 27/09/2020 19:09

No, Ebola for me Instantly

bingoncbeebies · 27/09/2020 19:09

First thing that came to mind was canola oil. Sorry OP Blush

SpeedofaSloth · 27/09/2020 19:10

Enola Gay was my first thought.

MrsRogerLima · 27/09/2020 19:11

I am 34 and I've never heard of Enola Gay.

I like it op, if anything the programme will help curb the negative connotations.

Ickabog · 27/09/2020 19:11

I doubt small children know about Ebola or Enola Gay.

Perhaps not, but small children grow into teens and adults who will. A name is for life and it's important to consider these associations.

JaJaDingDong · 27/09/2020 19:13

Shock
Aquamarine1029 · 27/09/2020 19:13

How about Lenora?

FairfaxAikman · 27/09/2020 19:13

Ebola Gay, BUT the plane was named after the pilot's mother so I don't think it's the worst choice.

hadtodoitagain · 27/09/2020 19:14

Wow. I actually real like it!!

user19542358662566 · 27/09/2020 19:16

How about Lenora?

Like the fabric softener?

RiseUpWiseUpEyesUp · 27/09/2020 19:17

31 and never heard of Enola Gay either and Ebola doesn’t come to mind either..

Also just watched Enola Holmes and loved it, so it’s a yes from me Smile
