me and DH watched Enola Holmes recently with his nieces and would love the same name for DD. We do thinks it's a little different though! Any thoughts??

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Enola Gay - you can't - terrible teeeible association!

Westfacing · 27/09/2020 19:18

Enola Gay - no. It was a long time ago but just too terrible a connection.

Cakeandcustard123 · 27/09/2020 19:19

Sorry I read ebola

bellinisurge · 27/09/2020 19:19

I don't care if you don't know. Chances are the vast majority of everyone she will ever meet will know.

jessstan2 · 27/09/2020 19:20

Ebola or Granola? No thanks.

PolloDePrimavera · 27/09/2020 19:20

I'm aware of the Netflix film but would also think of Enola Gay.

terriblyangryattimes · 27/09/2020 19:22

Nope. Sounds like a disease and is Alone backwards.

Absolute BANGER of a tune on the plus side.

toiletpaper · 27/09/2020 19:28

@hollyandkit

Absolute BANGER of a tune on the plus side.
Agreed! The name would make me think of Enola Gay too so it's a no from me
RunningFromInsanity · 27/09/2020 19:31

I think this thread just proves that people can make a negative association with pretty much any name.
No child is going to associate that name with a plane.

As for Enola- Ebola, that could work for anything. Do people called Cole get called ‘Cold’, does ‘Isabella’ get teased for being ‘Influenza’? Mary- Typhoid Mary? Never happens.

If kids are going to tease someone, they will. Whether they are called Enola or Jane.

It’s a perfectly reasonable name.

(And Lenora was a girls name long before it was a detergent ffs)

S111n20 · 27/09/2020 19:32

I really like it.

JenniferSantoro · 27/09/2020 19:32

Terrible.

DrDetriment · 27/09/2020 19:33

Terrible name. Sounds like an enema. They'll definitely be called Ebola.

Onceuponatimethen · 27/09/2020 19:33

Awful sorry

BabetteAteOtemeal · 27/09/2020 19:36

Never heard of Enola Gay (am late 20s) but don't think its a nice name tbh.

Jessbow · 27/09/2020 19:37

Nola? Noella?

Lollypop4 · 27/09/2020 19:37

First thought was Ebola!

AllPlayedOut · 27/09/2020 19:40

I immediately thought of Enola Gay so no.

SionnachRua · 27/09/2020 19:40

Never heard of Enola Gay either and I don't think some song in the 80s is all that important. It may be a generational thing as so many on this thread don't know the reference.

However it's an ugly sounding (and looking) name OP so I'd avoid.

I’m watching it now - alone backwards

fellrunner85 · 27/09/2020 19:42

I am 34 and I've never heard of Enola Gay

That's pretty alarming. Presumably, though, you have heard of Hiroshima? Nagasaki? The atomic bomb? World War 2??

And you understand that it's not a great thing to give a child a name associated with nuclear warfare?!!?

Slightlybrwnbanana · 27/09/2020 19:44

A generational thing? The dropping of the first ever atomic bomb is a bit more than that.

Higgeldypiggeldy35 · 27/09/2020 19:44

Too much like Ebola sorry
