Judged for my kids' names?!

Hi fellow mums! I'm new to the site, not too sure how it all works LOL
I have always been a massive Oasis fan (sorry Blur fans) and they have influenced me and inspired me throughout my entire life, so when i found out i was having two little twin boys, i thought it would be amazing to name them after the Gallagher brothers! I thought it was a sweet idea, but people seem to frown and laugh thinking it's a joke!! Have to say it does hurt a bit. All the best, Catherine xx

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Liam and Noel (is that their names) are actually pretty nice mainstream names. It’s not like it’s a Ringo type name or whatever

It IS pretty funny..

Chiyo666 · 29/04/2020 17:14

I know twins called Ronnie and reggie too Grin

HughGrantFan28 · 29/04/2020 17:15

Not a fan of either name. Can also understand that when naming two children at the same time within the same family it'll seem a bit strange/funny to some people. But then... names are a bit of a polarising thing anyway and it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks 🤷🏼‍♀️

HughGrantFan28 · 29/04/2020 17:16

People just laugh about it because of the concept of being named after Oasis Grin Confused

You didn’t go for Hugh and Grant then OP? Grin

HughGrantFan28 · 29/04/2020 17:17

Should've made those the middle names Grin haha

I'm not surprised they laugh really.

maggiejane1909 · 29/04/2020 17:18

@HughGrantFan28 these names are really nice but they cancel each other out Grin

HughGrantFan28 · 29/04/2020 17:19

I suppose it's a little funny...still a bit sad though Sad

OP posts:
HughGrantFan28 · 29/04/2020 17:20

Yep...hopefully they won't have a lifelong argument like the real Liam and Noel Shock Blush

BillywilliamV · 29/04/2020 17:20

John and Lewis?

Plurabellicose · 29/04/2020 17:20

If it makes you sad, don't theme your children's names after a passé band involving famously feuding brothers?

WorraLiberty · 29/04/2020 17:20

It is what it is and I'm sure you weren't daft enough to think it wouldn't happen.

HyggeTygge · 29/04/2020 17:21

Why not Hugh and Grant?

BillywilliamV · 29/04/2020 17:22

Mark and Spencer?

Apologies, been a long day.
I like Liam and Noel, wouldnt pick up on the Oasis thing unless it was pointed out to me.

HughGrantFan28 · 29/04/2020 17:23

I expected it as a little joke: that's inevitable! But I find it just a little unnecessary to be HORRIBLE about it...

sonicshoegazes · 29/04/2020 17:23

My sons middle name is Noel after Gallagher. My other son has William as his middle name. Don't worry about it.

Some people just like to judge people.

HughGrantFan28 · 29/04/2020 17:24

Haha! Everyone picks up on it eventually, that's just what happens!!

OP posts:
Plurabellicose · 29/04/2020 17:24

Well, perhaps people think it's insulting to two babies to treat them as a sort of newborn tribute band...?

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 29/04/2020 17:24

Are the babies already born and registered? If not then I would absolutely reconsider these names. Maybe keep them as middle names.

HughGrantFan28 · 29/04/2020 17:25

Aw thank you hun! William is a cute middle name x

Chiyo666 · 29/04/2020 17:25

They’re both lovely normal names. Noel is my favourite. My daughter is Noelle.
