Quite a few of the not liked names are of a particular type though. DD just started an activity in a different area of town frankly little girls called Tia/Chardonay/Chanel makes a nice change am heartily sick of all the middle class top 10 Eve, Charlotte, Isabel, Grace yawn fall asleep.

MamaLazarou · 02/03/2017 16:58

Macy. I can't put my finger on why I dislike it so much.

thegreylady · 02/03/2017 18:16

My two cats' names are here in all their glory but none of my dc and just one of dgc.

mycavitiesareempty · 02/03/2017 18:21

Sholto. Awful to my ears.

DerelictMyBalls · 02/03/2017 19:44

Tilly.

Tilly is silly.

Silly Tilly.

Also, I associate the name Matilda with excessive hairiness, for some reason.

Atticus: the subtext is 'oh aren't we so very literary Grin

Eden. Apart from being quite a harsh sound, you may as well call your child Paradise or Perfect or something. Which is fine when they're a wee sleepy newborn but when they're a mouthy teenager, kind of ridiculous.

bruffin · 03/03/2017 14:33

Eden is a really dreadful name, spoilt little pfb type name

Harlow,
names ending in "den"
surname names
placenames
I like Josh but cant stand Joshua (that was due to a parent on handbag.com who seemed to enjoy having the child with a medical problem and always referred to him as "Joshua"

FirstSeemItThenBeIt · 03/03/2017 14:38

Oh my god, handbag.com! I'd forgotten about that, hung about there for years!

I have a surname-type named son though...Grin

Could you be any nastier?

Marcipex · 03/03/2017 15:20

I know two charming well -behaved Edens. (Neither belonging to me )

Kind of agree about Atticus though.

mollyminniemo · 03/03/2017 15:27

Imogen
Amelie
Darcey

SapphireStrange · 03/03/2017 15:35

I don't like Wayne or Nathan. I was bullied by two brothers with these names hen I was a child and it's clearly scarred me Grin

I find Edmund ugly, but then again no one outside King Lear seems to be called it.

I also dislike Daniella. Just don't like the sound.

For balance, I can't stand my own name. It sounds like a bird squawking. I hate saying it and feel uncomfortable hearing others say it.

JasonDeruloFan · 03/03/2017 16:25

I don't like Eden either but that's because I know a horrible girl with the name so that's probably an irrational link on my part but can't help it, same as others associate names with exes and bullies etc

MuseumOfCurry · 03/03/2017 16:35

There was a terrible soap called Santa Barbara in the US in the 80s, quite famous, featuring a beautiful and tragic Eden. I thought it was the most beautiful name ever. Now I find it quite stripperish.

I used to love Handbag.com too! Grin

MuseumOfCurry · 03/03/2017 16:44

Bloody loved Santa Barbara. So bad it was fab!

I would have mowed Eden down with a lawmower to have sex with Cruz.

Squills · 03/03/2017 16:55

Elijah

The child I know has it shortened to Eli... sounds like something out of Oliver Twist
