Not Jean Grin

I'm 6 weeks pregnant with DC2. Just playing around with names Smile

If baby is a boy he will most likely be Frank after my granda.

A girl is more difficult! DD is Cassie and we love her name. Not on the dreaded top 40 list but wacky not wacky either.

I like straightforward, pretty but non-flowery names with a retro feel.

I love Betty (and Betsy) but stupidly named the dog that not anticipating any more babies!

What do we think of my current favourite, Cherry? Not to everyone's taste I know but I'm in love with it right now Grin.

I also like Dulcie, Violet, Maggie (my father would disown me for Thatcher) and Ivy and I like Dahlia but DP doesn't.

Any ideas?

How about:

Merle
Lillian (Lily)
Pearl
Kitty
Edith
Cordelia

I like Maggie too, despite thatcher connotations Hmm

HyvaPaiva · 29/11/2013 11:35

Margot rather than Maggie perhaps?

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 29/11/2013 11:35

Not Cherry or Dahlia

What about a 60s name like Karen, Sally, Susan, Jane, Deborah??

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 11:36

Merle - I don't like. Sounds too masculine.
Lillian (Lily) - Like Lillian. Lily is too popular. Although this is DD's choice!
Pearl - Love it!
Kitty - Not keen and DD is named after a relative called Catherine so too samey.
Edith - do not like.
Cordelia - too posh!

Maggie is lovely. Hmm.

Marjorie?

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 11:37

Don't like Margot.

Really don't like any of those Middle - too drab.

I love Dulcie and Violet.
What about Bette?
Belle/Bella
Phoebe
Mabel I love
Lydia
Annabel
Jess

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 11:40

Ooooh thanks Little! Mabel is another on our list! Forgot that one. I love it!

Bette is too close to the puppy and I don't like any of the others.

bringbacksideburns · 29/11/2013 11:44

Edie
Dora
Dolly
Dinah

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 11:46

Dolly is amazing - do I have the nerve?! Grin

Sidge - I love Frankie for a girl and my Mum is Frances so that's a good suggestion. Thank you Smile

Nancy
Martha
Sandra
Dawn
Valerie
Andrea
Penny
Phyllis
Audrey

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 11:49

Not keen on any of those Enb but thanks for having a go Smile

They're very 70's. My taste is more 50's kitsch and movie stars.

Hmmmm, the little old ladies in my Scottish dance class include:

Phyllis
Jean
Vivian
Sadie
Lucy
Daphne
Agnes
Elma

And from my own family tree, I always loved Cora and Aphra

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 11:50

Another one I've remembered. Marnie. I love that.

MrsBungleScare · 29/11/2013 12:02

Love marnie.

I'm not really sure what retro is but my contribution is wren.

nf1morethanjustlumpsandbumps · 29/11/2013 12:03

I love Annie and DH loves Penny

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 12:03

I would say that's more a hippy nature name MrsBungle

Pretty but not my taste. I like Willow.
