Whgat would you say are the pop 10 current "chav" girls names?

I know people here generally don't like the term "chav" being used but this is not meant to cause offence and is for a bit of research for a friend who is writing a short fiction piece for a competition and is looking for names to base a couple of her characters on.

She's not really looking at the "Sharon" and "Tracy" type names but more the sort of names that are in vogue at the moment.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Hyphenated names and surnames used as christian names. Well, they are considered chav in my neck of the woods.

Any name that is properly a surname (McKenzie, Madison, so forth) and any name that is properly a diminuitive (Jack, Harry, Molly, Sally, Polly, so on) marks you for ever as a child of chavs.

Why did you search out a 3 year old thread about ’chav’ names Hmm

hoppus · 06/01/2015 19:59

4 year old even

Writing a book about chavs, a book even.

Yours ever,

Still amusing!

Clementine, Cressida and Aurora.

What a silly silly thread.

bouncingbelle · 07/01/2015 01:23

'Common' (as in popular) names round my way at the moment as Sophie, Eva, Olivia and Ellie. Previously rare and quite 'posh' , now well used, and used by all the young mums I know.

When I married, I kept my maiden name as a middle name (like Hilary Rodham Clinton) Alas, my maiden name has been roundly mocked on this thread. Have I chavvified my name?

We also used my maiden name as DS1's middle name. There's no hope for him, is there?

It's not funny or original to mock children's names and call them chavvy.

Surely the ignorant chavvy people are those who happily reel off a list of names without caring about causing offence.

In which case what are the names of your children? This will give us an idea of what the chavs are naming their children.

I had an embarrassing moment at a party recently. Was talking to some blue bloods who said their little girl was called Peggy but was christened Margaret. I said it was my mother's name too, to which they asked if she was also a Margaret to which I said no. THEN my partner rocked up and joined the conversation saying that anyone christened Peggy which in his view is just a nickname obviously lacks breeding! WTF why are you having a dig about my mum to a total stranger! Not impressed.

MarjorieMelon · 08/01/2015 08:52

I hope he is an ex partner now Zanta! "Lacks breeding" that is a disgusting thing to say.

KingJoffreyObviouslyWatchesHol · 08/01/2015 13:04

My cat's name has just cropped up.

She's a fecking pedigree, I'll have you know. (Did shack up with a ginger tom and had mixed breed babies, though.)

It's a zombie thread!

manicinsomniac · 10/01/2015 21:56

Awww, I love American surname type names.

I have a daughter called Savannah and she goes to a very traditional, rural prep school.

Other girls who have or who currently attend the school have been/are:
Chantelle, Dakota, Hailie, Sydney, Millie, Olivia, Summer, Tia, Annabel, Indianna, Paris and probably several others that have been mentioned on the thread. None of their parents are remotely they type of people who tend to get described as 'chavvy'.

LynetteScavo · 10/01/2015 22:18

Hahhahahahaha! Zombie thread!

I was just about to wholeheartedly agree with a poster up-thread....then realised it was me under another name. Grin
