Whgat would you say are the pop 10 current "chav" girls names?

I know people here generally don't like the term "chav" being used but this is not meant to cause offence and is for a bit of research for a friend who is writing a short fiction piece for a competition and is looking for names to base a couple of her characters on.

She's not really looking at the "Sharon" and "Tracy" type names but more the sort of names that are in vogue at the moment.

Any ideas gratefully received.

JJJ: perhaps we should look out for a thread along the lines of: "I thought I'd found the perfect name, but so many people have made strange comments I can't go through with it. DH's family are very traditional , but I love nature names. DD is over 3 weeks old, so have to get on with it - help!

mumbar · 22/01/2011 18:54

JiltedJohnsJulie · 22/01/2011 19:01

GenevieveHawkings you could also get your friend to check out the "Baby of the Year" comp in her local paper. There are usually a few corkers in those, or is that just where I live....

monkeyfacegrace · 22/01/2011 19:08

this reminds me, in my trashy mag the other day, there was a woman who called her daughter Joop after her fav perfune, then her youngest daughter was named DKNY (dikini) after her new fav perfume.

My judgey pants are giving me a right wedgy with those Grin

PigTail · 22/01/2011 19:12

Sarah Palin used Bristol.

Mean thread. I lived next door to what would be termed "chavs" (drug dealers, swearing, rottweilors, old fridges in garden, family fights etc etc). Their daughters name? Sophia. Yet my terribly grand cousin has a Ryan. So you never can tell.

droves · 22/01/2011 19:42

Most of our family names are on this thread. Im pmsl Grin.
I have the worst name ever. Its italian. Im not by any stretch of imagination. I dont look italian. I did however date a suspiciously large amount of italian decended men. Its the name. I didnt realise until the last one kept refering to me as his lady/my woman. His non english father thought it highly amusing. Its just chavtastic.

Blackeyeddog · 22/01/2011 19:51

This thread is stupid and so offensive to lots of people. Let's snigger at chavs eh. its pathetic and smug and superior and wrong in every horrible way. What's the matter with you all.

mumbar · 22/01/2011 20:07

I'll just add in a 'group' I help at theres:

multiple of Jacks
Lily
Olivia
Ellie-May
Ruby
Riley
Millie

oh and 7 others!!!

Not a 'chavvy' family in sight.

Oh and my names unisex although predomently used for boys (I'm not!).

A names a name - it doesn't define you its just part of you.

MisSalLaneous · 22/01/2011 20:10

Mean thread, can only offend people that see their / their children's names on here.

droves · 22/01/2011 20:11

Blackeyedog i think your missing the point here. Chavy is in the eye of the beholder. Its just a personal opinon.

What one person thinks classy another finds chavy.
Take the thread in the lighthearted way its ment.
But i have 2 ask..,
is your name chardoney-bailey-mae ? Wink

MisSalLaneous · 22/01/2011 20:16

Oh, I don't know, droves, whilst you might be ok with it and see it as amusing (and possibly lighthearted if it was meant that way), a lot of people won't. I remember from a previous similar thread that a lot of people was very upset about it.

And no, I'm not defensive, we have very "average" names.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 22/01/2011 20:18

droves Barking perhaps? Grin

Edmundo · 22/01/2011 20:21

Charlotte isn't seen as 'chav' MissQue. I think the poster that mentioned it was being sarcastic. Most names on here are not chav at all. Ruby and Lily? Nah.
