Woolly Garlands for Cupoftea's beautiful girls. Knitters and crocheters needed.

You may have been following the progress of Cupoftea?s beautiful daughter, Beatrice Primrose.
This project is to make garlands for Cupoftea?s daughters, to include the flowers in all their names and other lovely things. We would appreciate your help.

The idea is to make some garlands similar to this woolly one.

However, we would like to include the following:

Bees for Beatrice
Primroses
Violets and Daisies for Beatrice?s sisters
Flowers
Any decorative motifs
Triangular bunting that we can stitch crochet motifs onto (size to be confirmed)

If you are a knitter wanting to make bunting, garter stitch is preferable as it will lie flatter.

Unlike the blanket projects, these woolly things can be made from any wool.

I will post more details including sizes and links to patterns shortly.

Please sign up if you?d like to contribute.

can't knit but more then willing to order some wool on-line and get it delivered to someone that can!

iceandsliceplease · 01/10/2011 21:24

I'll crochet some bunting, and have a go at some flowers - I can do plain single crochet equilateral triangles too if that would help to break things up a bit?

Are we sticking to plain colours, or can we use striped stuff too?

DutchOma · 01/10/2011 21:26

I'm happy to do something too, but am a bit snowed under. Will see what I can do.

DutchOma · 01/10/2011 21:31

Have pm'd you Knotty.

KnottyLocks · 01/10/2011 22:18

Oma, I've just seen your PM and will reply very soon. Smile

Bunting can be striped, plain or patterned thanks.

Knotty are we using the same wool or before or can I use any wool I have at home? I can make some more of those little Attic 24 flowers I put in with the last granny squares if you like? Have made some granny bunts in the past, will have a look for my pattern. What's the deadline?

KnottyLocks · 01/10/2011 22:36

Nell, any wool is fine. Attic24 flowers are lovely Smile

I haven't set a deadline yet but I think we need to make this a fairly quick project. At the moment, I have in mind 14th Oct but will have a think and confirm later.

I'm out tomorrow as we are meeting Blondeshavemorefun to give her her blanket and Edgar to give her her quilt. I'll check in when I can.

There's a knitted bunting pattern here. I haven't tried it so can't tell you if it's 5" but looking at the amount of stitches cast on, it must be around 4-5".

Simple knitted bunting pattern here This one looks about the right size. If it's a wee bit bigger, we'll manage!

Morning....

Do you think increasing (I would have to learn how to do it intentionally) is neater than decreasing? Only when I practised yesterday the decreasing wasnt so lovely. But then again, that could just be me Grin

KnottyLocks · 02/10/2011 07:33

Knitted flower patterns here

Pistey, I think it's the slip stitching that gives the neater edge.

I can easily crochet a little edge on your bunting if you are worried about it.

Have a little look at slip stitching.

I shall have to go and find my
s--l--o----w lady on YouTube Grin

My edges just look so rough. Well so do I, but that's quite normal for this time in the morning......

KnottyLocks · 02/10/2011 07:42

I would like to have a go at knitting cupcakes bunting.

I feel so bad that I never finished my squares last time (mad work things came up) - do you still need any squares? Otherwise I will have a go at that bunting Knotty linked too. I have silver grey and soft heather coloured Debbie Bliss wool.

VeryLittleGravitas · 02/10/2011 09:49

I didn't manage to get anything done for the last blanket

I've crocheted some snowflake stars in soft white(w/pastel accents) 3ply wool, some tudor roses in yellow and pale green DK acrylic and various little flowers and stars in tie-dye pink/yellow/lilac 2ply wool...any of this any good to you?

I also havea pattern for violet flowers. If you want I can source some purple and lilac wool tomorrow and crochet some.

Will put pictures on my page Tuesday night if you want to take a look and choose what you need.

KnottyLocks · 02/10/2011 19:08

Jules, Very, you two can stop beating yourselves up immediately! Really. There isn't supposed to be an obligation to make for each blanket; it's a do what you can, if you can, when you can. Please stop with the guilt Smile

Jules, you don't have to make a whole section of bunting, just pick and do what you'd like to and I'll link all the bits together. The colours are great.

Very, those bits sound fantastic. Yes please to them. Ansd another big yes to the violets: that would be marvellous.

Conflugenglugen · 02/10/2011 22:54

Knotty - do you still need wool? I am definitely not up to the craft side on this particular project, but I can donate. In fact, I'd love to. Let me know.

VeryLittleGravitas · 02/10/2011 23:18

Right
Today I have done:

2 purple violets(about 3 cm across)
4 pale green hear-shaped leaves (2cm)
2 white lily flowers (3cm)
2 white snowflake stars (6cm)
2 pink tie-dye star motifs (6cm)
1 red and white tudor rose (6cm)
1 yellow and green tudor rose(6cm)

Tomorrow I can crochet the primroses and a couple more tudor roses...is this enough? I love doing this sort of work, so if you need any more motifs or flowers just let me know.

Pics on my page tomorrow evening...

GetOnYourDancingShoes · 02/10/2011 23:32

Count me in, if I'm not too late.

Ria28 · 03/10/2011 01:25

I can knit some flowers, maybe some triangles if I have time.
