Woolly Garlands for Cupoftea's beautiful girls. Knitters and crocheters needed.

You may have been following the progress of Cupoftea?s beautiful daughter, Beatrice Primrose.
This project is to make garlands for Cupoftea?s daughters, to include the flowers in all their names and other lovely things. We would appreciate your help.

The idea is to make some garlands similar to this woolly one.

However, we would like to include the following:

Bees for Beatrice
Primroses
Violets and Daisies for Beatrice?s sisters
Flowers
Any decorative motifs
Triangular bunting that we can stitch crochet motifs onto (size to be confirmed)

If you are a knitter wanting to make bunting, garter stitch is preferable as it will lie flatter.

Unlike the blanket projects, these woolly things can be made from any wool.

I will post more details including sizes and links to patterns shortly.

Please sign up if you?d like to contribute.

Pistey you're sort of casting off, but you're not actually knitting the first stitch - just moving it from one needle to the other.

Good thinking Soupy, i'll do more flowers than bunts then. I've reminded myself how to crochet, so i'll crack on with my slightly wobbly flowers!

KnottyLocks · 03/10/2011 22:35

Evening all Smile

I'm planning to hook everything together rather than use ribbon, so I can attach as igo. If there's more flowers than bunts, that's fine as I'll attach a loop onto them (or not depending on the flower) and crochet the loop onto the chain.

It's all up here, in my butterfly brain. Clear as custard, eh?

Very, I've just had a look at the flowers on your profile. Perfect! They'll do very nicely Grin

The update on Beatrice's progress is here now in special needs 'Because a life filled with love is a life worth living'. How true.

Euwwweww... custard

Knotty - if you need wool for hooking together, do let me know (and what colour) and I'll get it for you.

Thanks Lady W. I will try that and see if I can get it right!
I have reverted to knitting two together, and if I pull it tighter, then it is a whole lot neater.

KnottyLocks · 03/10/2011 23:03

Custard is bloody marvellous, you daft woman Grin

And yes Pistey, I do need some wool, but for blanket 6 first. You got the details for the purple stuff you and Blondes ordered before?
Looking at the luverly squares that I've spent most of the evening shuffling around into a pretty pattern, I think that purpley colour would be handsome.

A) Custard is the very work of the devil.
B) And how many purples?!

KnottyLocks · 04/10/2011 07:15

A) Apricots are the work of the devil, not custard.
B) Two, thank you.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 04/10/2011 07:47

A) Actually it's not custard and it's not Hmm apricots, rice pudding is the work of the devil...
B) I've ordered them!

KnottyLocks · 04/10/2011 07:57

A) Apricots are the devil's work: stringy, furry little critters who beguile with their lushious fragrant aroma before attacking your throat with their fibrous interior and fuzzy pelt. Dupilicitous perishers. Fruit should not have fur or string.

B) Thanks

not sure who is knitting for me but i've just ordered some wool from the place knotty suggested and it's on it's way straight to you. hopefully it wont be too long.

it's addressed to 'the mumsnetter' Grin

SoupDragon · 04/10/2011 08:26

Knotty, I have a ball of one of the blanket wools (can't remember which one!) in yellow. It was sent in error by Cucumber Patch and thus free... Is it any good for stringing the bunting together?

KnottyLocks · 04/10/2011 09:09

Soupy, yes, I'll have it! Thanks.

Mumatron, thank you. I'll let your knitter know.

I will stick it in with my non existent triangles and additions :)

Last Posting Date: Saturday 15th October

This should allow for any wool ordered to arrive and give you time to make.

If you'd like to post your lovely creations earlier that's great.

PM me for the address to send them to.

Thanks to all involved.

Hi again knotty, you are doing a fab job! I can crochet whatever needs doing. What would you prefer?

mothmagnet · 04/10/2011 20:20

Does anyone else tense up when knitting? I find every other row I have to consciously relax my face, neck and head as they've gone all scrunched and painful.
Maybe it's concentration Wink

KnottyLocks · 04/10/2011 21:07

Dilly, your choice, my lovely Smile

Moth, maybe a small dram of something soothing would help you loosen up. Purely for medicinal reasons Wink

mothmagnet · 04/10/2011 21:10

Well that sounds like an official recommendation. Ok I will Wink

flapjack77 · 04/10/2011 22:38

My knitting skills don't go beyond squares I'm afraid, but I've still got some wool left over from the last blanket and can post onto someone more skilled than me..?

There's a ball of pink and third of a ball of purple.

KnottyLocks · 04/10/2011 23:13

Flapjack, I'll Pm you Smile Thanks.

Well, I have discovered I can at least sort of read patterns, and have made a few of these nice flowers. Also had a go at one of these hawaiian flowers but mine looks more like a sad butterfly Grin

Also managed one triangle from here before I realised you'd already put up instructions for one, Knotty.

Unfortunately I'd only got the pale blue yarn I had left from Edgar's blanket, a ball of cheap cream stuff, and a tiny amount of pink, so they're not very colourful. I think I have the bug now though. Must...crochet....more....flowers....

JulesJules · 05/10/2011 09:29

Right.

Do I really need circular needles and double ended needles for this? What I have is Debbie Bliss DK wool and 4mm needles. One ended and uncircular.

I am a very BASIC knitter Grin

SoupDragon · 05/10/2011 21:13

I have managed one amigurumi (which i am not sure I can spell) bee and triangle.
