Woolly Garlands for Cupoftea's beautiful girls. Knitters and crocheters needed.

You may have been following the progress of Cupoftea?s beautiful daughter, Beatrice Primrose.
This project is to make garlands for Cupoftea?s daughters, to include the flowers in all their names and other lovely things. We would appreciate your help.

The idea is to make some garlands similar to this woolly one.

However, we would like to include the following:

Bees for Beatrice
Primroses
Violets and Daisies for Beatrice?s sisters
Flowers
Any decorative motifs
Triangular bunting that we can stitch crochet motifs onto (size to be confirmed)

If you are a knitter wanting to make bunting, garter stitch is preferable as it will lie flatter.

Unlike the blanket projects, these woolly things can be made from any wool.

I will post more details including sizes and links to patterns shortly.

Please sign up if you?d like to contribute.

Knotty i can have a go with the knitting, and i can do granny squares, but i cant follow the pattern Confused.

Will try and find some knitted flowers on ravelry though.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/10/2011 10:06

If it is 5" across the top, how long roughly should a knitted one be?
And I know you say any wool, but can I have a bit more of an idea. I know the one I've used is DK, would that be good?!

KnottyLocks · 01/10/2011 10:11

Moth, we're going for woolly triangles.
That pattern should give you a 5" equilateral triangle. An elongated one would be fine too.

I think we'll stick to triangles for the bunting bit.
If you'd like to make some other shapes like those in my link feel free. Smile

Whoremoanee, it's made the same way as a granny squares but on only 3 sides. If you can make a granny, you can do a triangle.
Start the same way as you would a granny, with a ring. Then instead of doing four groups of treble stitches into the ring, you do three. From there, it works the same way as a granny but only on three sides.

There are some tutorials on Youtube for bunting. You may have to add another round to make it up to five inches though.

Can't knit or crochet but can send wool if needed?

KnottyLocks · 01/10/2011 10:13

Piste, the DK one is good. The triangle length can be elongated, so as long as it's 5 inches at the top, it could be 5" or 6" or 6 and a bit long.

Hello Milky Smile

Thanks for your offer. I'm just getting myself organised here but will be back to you very soon.

Are these patterns ok?

KnottyLocks · 01/10/2011 10:33

GentleOtter, I had a look at those too. They are longer than we need BUT as the knitting pattern goes from the tip, increasing as you go, you could follow the pattern up to 6ish inches then cast off. Not sure how wide they would end up being though.

Just let me know :)

KnottyLocks · 01/10/2011 10:35

I quite like the crochet pattern on that link too. Looks quite simple to follow. Again, not sure how wide it would be by the end.

Surely it must be essential to put a cupcake on the bunting...

KnottyLocks · 01/10/2011 10:39

Cupcakes are for eating, Soupy.

Soupy, if you want to make a crochet cupcake, go for it. Grin

Can I cheat do felt bunting? I have made some pale lemon merino felt and a cream coloured felt but it lies well as it is the same thickness as knitting.
the triangles are to be 5 inch x 5 long?

KnottyLocks · 01/10/2011 10:52

As it's wool felted by your fair hands, GO, that's lovely. Smile

No to cheap crafting felt! Thank you. Smile

The triangles need to be 5" inches at the top, 5- 6 inches in length.

Afraid I'm out for much of the day now.

Feel free to post any questions and I'll get back to you when I can.

GentleOtter · 01/10/2011 10:55

It is proper fat homemade felt and well fulled so bits don't come off.Smile

dcs and I can make some today.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/10/2011 11:55

With the speed of a thousand gazelles I have made a bunt the right size and shape! I did 27 cast on, knit 4 rows then reduce one on each end. It's not good enough for any project but I know what I'm doing now and I'm going to get some more wool today.

Where on earth does one sew the end on a triangle point?

It was so quick I've stunned myself really Blush

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 01/10/2011 12:22

I can crochet some pink flowers and send them.

SoupDragon · 01/10/2011 13:14

Can gazelles knit?

ExitPursuedByaBear · 01/10/2011 17:38
