If you can knit AT ALL could you please CAT either of us?

We are making a blanket present with a Mn connection and would love as many people as feel willing and able to contribute a 15cm square, plain or fancy as you like, in cotton double knitting yarn. We can help with sourcing suppliers.
More details available off-board.

It's a surprise for the person in question, so please, please contact us for more info rather than make guesses etc on here...it's in an extremely good cause.

Very many thanks to anyone who feels able to help. XXX

marina, last night I managed to sew together 3 of the 4 rows together. unfortunately one of the turquoise ones then started to unravel (there was a knot at the beginning instead of a thread to sew in) so may unpick it and redo that one. how's yours?

NotQuiteCockney · 01/12/2005 10:45

I've sewn together one bundle of six. Should sit down and do the rest today or tomorrow.

walkinginawinterBundleland · 01/12/2005 10:51

I know sewing is Not Your Thing, NQC, so extra-well-done

NotQuiteCockney · 01/12/2005 10:52

Oh, it is so Not My Thing.

I've nearly finished the hat I'd just started on Sunday.

Marina · 01/12/2005 10:57

Have done all my rows end-sewing-in now and lined them up attractively on the carpet to admire. Have not, however, sewed any rows together...yet
Too much excitement what with Rome and I'm a Celeb...
I am impressed NQC, both at hat speed and steeling yourself to the sewing up. I had better sew like crazy tonight

OP posts:
walkinginawinterBundleland · 01/12/2005 11:39

the lining up on carpet is v satisfying. even more satisfying when you pick them up and they're attached to each other...one or two were a bit of a struggle because of the different -ahem- measurements. i must remember to do that extra square too.

MARINAtivityPlay · 05/12/2005 21:19

How's the crocheting coming bundle? It's SUCH a quiet time of year for us all I assume you finished it all this weekend?
Update for blanketeers - at a summit in London on Friday, chunks of blanket were reunited and taken away by bundle to be finally assembled and tizzied up. Just so as you know...

walkinginawinterBundleland · 12/12/2005 18:32

ahem

It is Finished

Spent three evenings up till well past midnight, sewing in odd ends and crocheting round (mainly that darkish red plus a smudge of orangey red) 4 times.

now. I need a digital camera, so may take it into work tomorrow as I'm sure we have one there and teccy people who can help me upload images. then will post it with as much security/recordable delivery as crown jewels would expect. It is bloody marvellous, but obviously never expected less

Mercy · 12/12/2005 18:57

Do us non-knitters get to find out who it is for - and to see the results of this fab project?

Just curious, sorry

MIstletAOU · 12/12/2005 19:17

ooooooh, can't wait to see the final result!! Will you post a pic in member profiles???

NotQuiteCockney · 12/12/2005 19:20

It won't be much to look at in member's profiles, it's a very very big thing, and those are tiny tiny pictures.

MIstletAOU · 12/12/2005 19:20

(I'll be spending hours peering at the monitor trying to spot my squares )

MIstletAOU · 12/12/2005 19:21

Perhaps us knitters can get an emailed piccy and the non-knitters will have to put up with a "here's the gist" picture then

Tinker · 12/12/2005 19:25

Oh, BIG round of applause to sewer (that's sew-er not sewer) uppers.
