If you can knit AT ALL could you please CAT either of us?

We are making a blanket present with a Mn connection and would love as many people as feel willing and able to contribute a 15cm square, plain or fancy as you like, in cotton double knitting yarn. We can help with sourcing suppliers.
More details available off-board.

It's a surprise for the person in question, so please, please contact us for more info rather than make guesses etc on here...it's in an extremely good cause.

Very many thanks to anyone who feels able to help. XXX

Squares went in post today - sorry for delay - Marina have emailed you just in case you don't check this thread.

SueW · 22/11/2005 14:46

You should have received another two from me too.

Marina · 24/11/2005 16:24

Hello Twiga and Sue, both consignments turned up safely. And that label is soooo cute Twiga, what a lovely thing to send.
And I just cannot remember if I mailed or posted to SenoraPostrophe to say thank you for HER squares too, also safely received.
Just to let all on this thread know that the blanket is due to be assembled this weekend at NQC's. If you are in London (maybe for the BIG meetup the previous night ) and want to come along to help, can you mail me urgently?
Many thanks once again.

Marina · 24/11/2005 18:02

So glad you are able to come along!

tamum · 24/11/2005 18:14

I hope the sewing-up goes really well

Twiga · 24/11/2005 23:20

Glad it got there ok - all the best for the weekend !

bundle · 26/11/2005 15:49

marina, if I haven't heard from nqc I'll be onto you for directions..my filing system has failed me as per usual..

NotQuiteCockney · 26/11/2005 15:53

bundle, don't worry, I got your email, will be texting you my address and phone number. (I'm not sure I sent you my address?)

bundle · 26/11/2005 15:55

phew

I did have your address from when I sent you the crochet hat pattern, but have mislaid it! do you know what we're sewing up with? should i go & get a couple of balls of something from our local woolshop? i do have assorted colours at home but nothing in large quantities.

bundle · 26/11/2005 15:58

thanks for the text, nqc! is it from 2pm?

NotQuiteCockney · 26/11/2005 16:00

I think we're ok for yarn. I assume we'll do sewing up with cotton DK. As the whole thing is in a range of colours, presumably we can use different ones? I have a good range of cotton DK. And I think Marina plans to bring some, too.

I also stocked up on appropriate sewing type needles. Or will you be using a crochet hook?

Oh, and yes, you did have my address, duh. But I've texted it to you now, assume it got through?

NotQuiteCockney · 26/11/2005 16:01

Yes, from 2. We'll be home from 1, anyway, as DS2 turns to a pumpkin then, without a nap.

bundle · 26/11/2005 16:02

ooh getting all confused between sending msgs between phone and pooter! be there some time after 2pm to see the pumpkin's mother

bundle · 26/11/2005 16:05

I'll bring a couple of needles, some yarn and a crochet hook just in case...

Marina · 28/11/2005 09:39

Good morning knitters
Just to let contributors to this thread know that

  1. We had a lovely and productive time at NQC's on Sunday (thank you all for your hospitality NQC it was really great to meet you, your family and some other knitters...and their extremely cute and well-behaved offspring)

  2. About half the sewing got done due to excessive square production by so many Mners...we are talking an eighty square blanket here!

  3. So the rest of the sewing was farmed out and will be done this week.

  4. The family who are going to get the blanket know about it now and are very pleased at the prospect

also wanted to say a big thanks to NQC's DH for taking DD1 off our hands. She really enjoyed herself and was telling DH all about her exciting afternoon watching Madagascar with "my friends".

The blanket looks FAB! will email you the snaps once I reduce the file size a bit Marina

lovely to meet you all

Marina · 28/11/2005 09:53

Thanks MP and for the lift too, much appreciated hope you got home thereafter as quickly as I did. Was very impressed with dd1's social ease and dd2's poised sitting up!

motherpeculiar · 28/11/2005 10:05

Oh I am glad you made it home quickly after that - I felt a bit weird leaving you on that busy road. We were home in 20mins or so and DD2 continued to sleep all the way which was great.

Marina · 28/11/2005 14:08

It was very much my old stamping ground pre-kids although I know what you mean. My bus came 5 mins later! Perfect timing all round.
