Welcome to the 5th thread.

An amazing day to begin a new journey together. The thread babies are arriving and we take this as a positive nod from the great karma controller - whoever and whatever that may be.

Good luck to our thread, to the souls who read, those who post, those who drop in to learn and hold hands.

Our cyber bench is a supportive place, we sit outside hospitals as strong but scared women go to ride their wave. We huddle in our cottage when the weather is bleak, stormy or biting cold.

When the sun shines on us we share stories of real life, gain strength and giggle together in times of warm weather.

Doh, posted on the wrong/old thread and I haven't even got pg brain as an excuse...

Mishta, sending lots and lots of thoughts your way, must be very very hard not to cuddle Bella, hope she's with you soon. I'd love 3 girls, can't think of anything nicer in this life.

And Lins and Shangrila, so exciting. Lins is on the way, and vomiting sounds like early labour to me.

New life after all that misery - so it does happen.

busierbee · 22/01/2010 17:40

Hello good friends
Well done for posting at such an insane time of the night dear Mishta and am glad to hear that wee Bella has turned a corner. We are all still on the bench outside her hospital - some of us are knitting (not me I hasten to add) and some are reading OK magazine since that is what you do in hospital.
It sounds as if they are caring well for our Bella - I know a woman who is the Matron in a baby unit and she is a remarkable woman. I think they are angels.
How soon will you be able to join her honey?
Is your hubby with you or baby?
Try and rest if you can; must be hard.
And sending big cuddles to you and your girls
Bee xxxxxxxxxxx

Eulalia · 22/01/2010 18:52

Checking in....

Mishta, thanks for updating us. You really are amazing managing to get on here to talk to us and we do appreciate it. I really think that Bella is improving and don't worry about her being early (what gestation do they think she was?) even full term babies can have problems. Hope you have a good nights rest and she can join you soon. All the best to you and your family.

Am on 2nd glass of white already, feeling a little mellow and very appreciative of life. Kids for the moment playing happily on laptops or with toys, pot of soup bubbling on the stove, more wine chilling in the fridge .... some people in the world really just have nothing but the clothes they stand in.

Will check in later...

treedelivery · 22/01/2010 18:54

Great news Mishta. Once the corner is turned she will rocket forward because she is strong and has maturity and has had a healthy placenta. This will be a tiny distant memory very very soon.

Sleep well. x

Mishta, still thinking of you and your beautiful girl. I hope you are doing okay and she is continuing to improve.

I LOVE IT that we are altogether here today. It feels right somehow.

Eulalia, we are all blessed actually, even though we keep forgetting it. It's good to be reminded.

Lins, hope you're on the gas and air and dilating nicely!

busierbee · 22/01/2010 21:20

Ooh have checked in to see if any news from our Lins - but none! I hope she is, as you say, dilating nicely.
Eulalia good to hear you on the sauce - I do not think of you as a boozer somehow.... now you Bezzy... that is another matter.
Dearest Mishta; hope you are holding onto yourself in this tricky time darling. It sounds as if she is doing well, Tree says so.. and do not forget she is a midwife so she knows.
She will soon be in the bosom of your family, and what a moment that will be. For all of you.
Sleep well mumsnutters.
Bee xxxxxxxxxx
ps - smug note from me, I organised a cake sale at smallest child's school today and then sold off the leftover cakes at swimming club and we raised over £300 for Haiti.
Am pleased. These things matter. We are of course the lucky ones, as you rightly say Eulalia.

NumptyMum · 22/01/2010 21:32

Mishta - I hope you are getting some well-deserved rest, and that your little Bella is also resting and growing stronger. I'm sorry to hear that she is not with you, but you will be together soon I'm sure. Sending lots of love your way across the time-zones...

Hoping that all is well with Lins .

And Shangrila - I'm glad yesterday went the way it did, given your feelings about it. Here's hoping the waiting time goes quickly and that you are peaceful and prepared.

Full of cold (one of those 'I can't breathe' type colds) so am finding it hard to think let alone write, off to bed...

xx to all.

Mishta · 22/01/2010 21:49

They're about to get me up for shower but just wanted to quickly update before any of you go to bed. Rang hosp, Bella is still 'working hard' but they have reduced her o2 to 28% which is good. Will write more soon xxx

linspins · 22/01/2010 22:56

Hello everyone, it's Lins's husband here. Apologies for gatecrashing your thread, but I've been given strict instructions to ply you with the good news.

Lindsey gave birth to a healthy boy at 6.15pm whom we have called Franklin. So healthy, in fact, he came out weighing an eye-watering 9lb 15oz. He appeared after two hours of intense and highly painful contractions helped by a fantastic midwife who stayed with us and helped the whole day. Due to her SPD, the birth weight and the speed of delivery, Lins was in a lot of pain throughout labour but managed just using gas and air. She's now completely exhausted but will hopefully get some sleep overnight.

She did amazingly well and we're both very chuffed with the beautiful new baby. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for giving Lins such wonderful support over the last few months.

More news to follow in due course. Night all.

Mishta · 22/01/2010 23:16

Thank you so much Lins' hubby for delivering such wonderful news, and putting an end to our waiting! Give Lins a big kiss and hug from me, and tell her well done! Also that mishta's baby looks to be on the improve. Thanks again - and well done to you too dad xx

busierbee · 23/01/2010 00:21

Ooooh Mr Lins Pins - what delightful, wonderful news. I am pleased for you both - so pleased. What a weight! Good golly.
And I love the name - very dignified.
Lins must be totally wiped out - but we know she will be well looked after by you.
Big hugs to Lins from
Bee xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Congratulations

busierbee · 23/01/2010 00:21

Hey Mishta
What is the latest on wee Bella bambina?
And how are you, how are you?
love
Bee xxxxxxxx

Cantdothisagain · 23/01/2010 06:45

CONGRATULATIONS Lins and Mr Lins! I can't believe that weight - your instinct to have the baby sooner rather than later was clearly a sound one. And well done Lins. I'm so happy.

Mishtabel (like Bezzy's suggestion of a new name for you) I am so glad that our new baby beauty is doing so well. I hope you can be reunited with her too. I am imagining you asleep now, but you probably aren't. Thank you so much for keeping us posted.

This feels like an emotional few days for our thread, doesnt it? Welcome to Bella and Franklin.

We now have Justa's boy, Lins's boy, and Mishta's girl. Three little new lives. It's awe-inspiring. Out of so much pain whole new lives are emerging...

Mishta · 23/01/2010 07:30

Good morning all,
Again, what lovely news about Lins and baby. Shangrila musnt be too far away.

Bee tried to email you back today but it wouldn't let me. Do I go thru mumsnet first?

Well I am now at John Hunter, where Bella is. Arrived here a few hours ago. Was very emotional when I first arrived and saw her, but feels so much better to be with her. She is still struggling a bit and occasionally gives a bad blood gas result, but the midwives seem to think she should improve, bit x bit daily ( as you said yourself tree). They said we will most likely be here for the next week. I have some photos I'm dying to upload to my profile, but it won't let me from my phone. So, Bee, was hoping to email them to you for you to send to those here whose emails you have.

Am in a 4 bed ward (yuk), and I will never sleep tonight if the lady across from me doesn't stop making noises, banging things around etc. Still waiting to be admitted so I can go back and see my little girl. Had notes here somewhere of things I wanted to mention to individuals but can't find it, and am SO distracted by my neighbour, can't think straight. But thank you all for your continued well wishes. Will be back later xxx

Mishta · 23/01/2010 07:35

Addit: forgot to express my amazement of 9lb 15oz!
Lins, no wonder you were uncomfortable, I am in awe of you xx

Cantdothisagain · 23/01/2010 07:41

Hi Mishta, so glad you are with Bella now. And I remember the four-bed ward thing - when I was in after having DD, there was one woman in my ward drinking endless cans of beer and burping. I projectile vomited - the smell was just too much for my post C-section stomach...

I'm really excited about seeing photos!! Please do email Bee with them. And I hope she continues to improve little by little. It's bound to be emotional to see her. Were you planning to breastfeed, and if so can you feed her at all, or is it tube-only at the moment?

I share your awe at Lins. Her baby at 40 weeks is more than three pounds heavier than mine was at 42 weeks... wow on the gas and air only.

Thank you for filling us in and do do keep us posted and photos! Big hugs to you and Bella.

busierbee · 23/01/2010 10:38

Morning to the handmaidens of Mishta and Lins
Soooo glad to hear you are reunited with your precious girl. I am sure it is upsetting to see her all wired up - but she is in the best possible hands. They will care for her so well.
Let them take care of you too Mish, Bella needs you all strong and well as can be after a caesarian. How are the big girls?
I have sent you another CAT message - not sure why you cannot reply. If you have my email, then do send pics!!!!!
Hoping our Lins is happily cooing over Franklin too. Such a fab name - I love it.

Everyone else, I hope you are okay this morning ladies - it is an emotional time and hard for those of us not yet pregnant, I do know. Lins and Mishta offer hope to us.
Hugs and teeny weeny glasses of champagne to all
Bee xxxx

busierbee · 23/01/2010 11:22

Whoohoo!
Have emailed you Cant and Tree with picture of Beautiful. And she is. Looks very strong.
As for Mishta - she looks so enviably gorgeous.... and just had major surgery!
What an amazing family.
Bee xxxxxxxxxxx

Eulalia · 23/01/2010 11:28

Congratulations Lins, Mr Lins & to your dd! Welcome to the world baby Franklin and what a big boy! You have done extremely well Lins, looking forward to hearing from you when you've got over that mammoth birth. You and tree now have something in common with the same birthdays.

Good to hear Bella is improving and hope you get away from the noisy neighbours soon!

Very quick post as am taking kids swimming soon and then off to friends for a meal. And indeed Bee I am a drinker, wine is my downfall mostly....

Lovely atmosphere here on the thread, just what is needed on a terribly gray day (although I guess its nice where you are Mishta).

love to all. xxxx

Mishta · 23/01/2010 11:41

Bee, the email I tried to send this morning managed to go thru when I just logged in then. So I have sent a few photos (though I had to email them one at a time from my phone). Will have to get a shot of 13yr dd with Bella tomorrow, as just realised I haven't got one.

Manic lady in bed across from me has been given something to help her sleep; only now she is snoring, and gets really loud at times, keeping me awake - arghhh!! Beer burps would be no fun either I am guessing

Wonder how Lins is doing. And how is everyone else?
No doubt I will drop in again thru night as can't see sleep happening in short term.

Btw, Cant, I am planning to breastfeed as have always enjoyed it with the others, but Bella is only having IV glucose at the moment. Tried to manually express today just to get things going for when she is hopefully well enough, but no luck. Seeing lactation consultant tomorrow

take care everyone xx

Mishta · 23/01/2010 11:48

X-post with you Eulalia. Was dark and stormy here too, although very warm. Your plans for the day sound nice, enjoy xx

katiecubs · 23/01/2010 12:31

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Lins on the birth of Franklin, super news. Sounds like he will be a strapping lad alright!

Mishta glad you have been reunited with Bella and she is improving bit by bit - will keep on sending the healing thoughts.

Hope everyone else has a lovely weekend xxxx

NumptyMum · 23/01/2010 14:08

Congratulations Lins & Mr Lins - I'm so glad Franklin arrived safely and quickly (even at that size - ooof!). Hope Lins recovers well and quickly... love to you all, big and small.

Mishta - I'm very glad to hear you're now with Bella, though grrr for noisy woman on your ward, I hope you can get some ear plugs! I really hope things continue to go well with Bella and you.

Shangrila - has the vomiting stopped? I hope it is better today (or perhaps it really WAS early labour signs...?)

Tree - sorry, with befuddled brain I forgot to wish happy birthday to Hattie, hope the gathering was fun.

Still full of cold so if I've missed anyone or anything else, sorry...

If there is anyone who is needing support just now, and is wondering what on earth is going on with this thread, please do still post - we are just happy that for 3 of our thread ladies who have had bad times in the past, things have gone/are going WELL this time . But on the other hand we ALL know that things don't always work out that way, so don't hesitate to post if you need support or advice; someone here will be around.

xx

Cantdothisagain · 23/01/2010 14:35

Thank you for the pics. Little Bella is indeed - bella. And Mishta - how do you do it?! Hot mama indeed. You look fantastic, and so does Bella.

Your DD1 is gorgeous as well.

Beautiful family.

I hope you are sleeping now - I do understand the noisy shared ward scenario. Sympathy!

Lins, hope you and Franklin are doing well. Maybe you are even out of hospital by now...

Tree, belated happy birthday to Hattie.

Such happy news around here. I hope everyone else is okay. And Shangrila, you've gone very quiet - did the vomiting lead you off to the midwife led unit earlier than anticipated?

Mishta · 23/01/2010 15:56

Hi - told you I'd be on thru night. And not because of noisy neighbour; I am actually sleeping on a couch in the tv room to get away from her. Just got up to go to toilet and she is still going, making all perculiar noises.

Anyway, I too, wondered whether the excitement over birth of thread babies may make others reluctant to post here. I hope not, though I can understand there would be confusion between the title of thread and general flow/feel of conversation. So to repeat what Numpty said, please don't hesitate to post if you feel in need of support. And although, of course, I have lots to say about Bella at the moment, hogging the thread is the last thing I want to do. Thought perhaps I should start posting on companion thread again, but then I'm not pregnant anymore....It's not like I'm going to post daily updates of her when she is well though (I promise). Suggestions welcome

Must have x-posted with you too Bee. So glad you got the photos. Will upload them to my profile when I can get to my computer so everyone can see them. And you and Cant; kind but exagerated description of me - but I'll take it, thank you. Do agree though that my girls are pretty cute (not biased in the least of course). Big girls are going good, though 13 yr dd more apprehensive than 14yr dd. Younger has been so
excited for last three pregnancies, which of course, didn't turn out. I think she has trouble believing, even now, or especially now, that things might just be okay this time. Something I think we can all relate to.

Just quickly: while I was up then, went to nursery to see Bella. No real change, on about 35% oxygen, but they have her surrounded by a rolled up bunny rug, looking so comfortable, it was lovely. As for me, first day post CS was very 'ouchy' shall I say, and I went thru a whole bag of analgesia literally. Today I was surprised at how good I felt; hence think I may have overdone it a bit.

Better try getting back to sleep. Thinking of you all xxx
