Welcome to the newest thread of support for those ladies who are pregnant or trying to conceive after terminating for abnormalities (tmfr). Since this thread first began (almost ten years ago!) there have been stories of heart break, sadness and fear, but from these stories there have also been stories of happiness, success and most importantly, hope.

@No1worrier of course, anything I can do to help. So I was 18 weeks, it was already part of my plan. They gave it me pretty much straight away. As soon as the midwife gave me the injection around 1 minute later the placenta came out. Not sure if it was the injection or not. They did say that they would have waited an hour and if the placenta didn’t come out I would need to have surgery. They had already booked me in, just in case. I wasn’t allowed to eat/drink after birth just in case.

It sounds horrendous! The last thing you need when you’re going through everything already! If it helps my hospital is Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, but the maternity unit is Jessop’s.

I hadn’t given birth before, this was my first time so it isn’t like they were going on past experience etc. It seemed like procedure. Let me know if I can help anyone x

@Alice40p

The contractions are easing today, still feeling the odd 1 every few hours but definitely alot better thanks for asking. I'm using my heat pad and taking ibuprofen which seems to be helping.

My bleeding seems to be getting lighter too, only really there when I wipe after going to the toilet. I think this is quite good since it's only been a week tomorrow. I cant believe it is a week already, it's went in so quickly. We started painting the hall so that has helped pass some time, keeping ourselves busy and arranged our daughters service today too.

I've been drinking raspberry leaf tea did anyone else drink this? I've heard it's good for the uterus lining and been taking my vitamins. I feel like I'm wishing my life away for May to arrive for us to ttc again. I just hope my body is ready by then.

Hope everyone else is doing okay x

Alice40p · 24/03/2021 21:46

@No1worrier I’m glad you are feeling better today. My bleeding lasted I think for 1.5 weeks or 2.5 weeks (can’t remember exactly now) and towards the end it was like you describe. The midwife said it can stop and start again but luckily it didn’t. You will feel a bit better when the bleeding stops. No, I haven’t tried it but I took conception multivitamins from pregnacare and some extra folic acid. Did they say the contractions are normal after the procedure?

Alice40p · 24/03/2021 21:48

@Hadd9 sorry you had to go through this horrible experience with your first baby. It is hard enough if you have other kid/kids but must be terrible if it happens the first time around!

Hadd9 · 24/03/2021 22:23

@Alice40p I so want a baby, so so much! But I don’t mentally or physically feel ready to start again just yet.
My bleeding was the same I’ve just stopped completely (I hope) and it’s been 3 weeks now

Alice40p · 25/03/2021 05:54

@Hadd9 yes, I felt exactly like that a few weeks after my tfmr. The urge to be pregnant again is very strong! It is good that the bleeding has stopped, now you can wait for your first period.

No1worrier · 25/03/2021 09:22

@Alice40p yeah I'm expecting it to be around a couple of weeks. 1 week down. I started my chart on Monday just to see if my body is adjusting and also to give me something to do. My temps are falling, and my RHR is back to pre pregnancy. So looks like it is going in the right direction (that hurts me to say 💔). When did you start checking with a HPT to see it fading? Should I start now?

@Hadd9 I know the feeling and it's only been 1 week for me since my baby girl was born 💔. Are you going to ttc after your first AF? That's our plan just hope my body is ready. I know mentally that's all that will help. That was also my first and only time being pregnant x

Hadd9 · 25/03/2021 09:41

I don’t really measure anything temperature etc. I just go with my instincts and I’m sure I’ve got ovulation twinges so the period won’t be too long.
I’m waiting until I’ve got the post mortem results and seen the professor at my hospital before we make any decisions. If everything comes back ‘okay’ then we thought about ttc in the summer

NoCallerID · 25/03/2021 13:06

Ahhh amazing, thanks guys!!

I've had my friends midwife friend read the complaint and in her hospital (Manchester) they don't give the injection under 16 weeks gestation but I don't know what policies apply in our trust. I've sent the complaint to PALS now and will just see why they come back with...

Alice40p · 25/03/2021 14:47

@No1worrier I didn’t measure temperature etc either. I checked Hcg level by doing a pregnancy test I think around 1-2 weeks after the bleeding stopped. That came back negative and I think I got my periods pretty soon after that. I tried ovulation test for the first time after that and TTC around that time.
@NoCallerID I was only 13 weeks when I had my tfmr and they gave me the injection.

BloodyHellAudrey · 25/03/2021 14:52

@charlieecol I'm just tagging you into here, hopefully you see this notification xx

NoCallerID · 25/03/2021 15:20

@Alice40p would you mind sharing which trust this was? If you'd feel more comfortable by dm? I'm just trying to gather as much information as possible so I can worst case get a solicitor to look over it but I feel I need to proof to myself that I have a point first and it's not just made up.
We're South Warwickshire Trust. I just can't believe there's so much difference throughout the country.

Alice40p · 26/03/2021 16:29

@NoCallerID let me know if you want the details of the injection too, I can check my discharge notes and PM you.

Alice40p · 26/03/2021 16:30

I received my NIPT results today and it was all fine! What a relief 😅! Now waiting for the 16 week early anomaly scan.

NoCallerID · 26/03/2021 16:33

@Alice40p yes please if you wouldn't mind. I've enquired with a solicitor today....

Amazing news on the NIPT results!!! So happy for you 🎉🥲

Alice40p · 26/03/2021 16:38

@NoCallerID I shall have a look for my notes.
Thanks, now hoping the 12 weeks scan goes well.

Alice40p · 26/03/2021 16:48

@NoCallerID sorry, I went through all my notes but there is no info about the injection or the time it was administered.

No1worrier · 26/03/2021 16:57

@Alice40p

I received my NIPT results today and it was all fine! What a relief 😅! Now waiting for the 16 week early anomaly scan.
Aw amazing news! So happy for you 🎉 .

Little update from me, 8 days on from the day and the bleeding has finally stopped, although I know you said it could start again so not ruling that out completely. After birth contractions have pretty much stopped altogether and today is the first day I have felt "okay" in a way. Maybe because the physical side of things have eased and now I just need to deal with the mental side.

I'm ashamed to say I am also going to pour myself a small glass of wine to chill out. First alcoholic drink in half a year.

Mummabear40 · 26/03/2021 17:36

@Alice40p fantastic news, so happy for you!

I had my 20 week scan today and all was fine, finally I feel relieved and relaxed xx

Kiki275 · 26/03/2021 18:00

@Mummabear40 @Alice40p wonderful news for both of you. Your relief must be immense xx

MummyBearBoo · 26/03/2021 20:57

So pleased for you that your scan was fine @Mummabear40 xx

Alice40p · 26/03/2021 21:06

Thanks everyone and great news @Mummabear40!
@No1worrier that’s great that you are physically recovering now. The days after that are a bit hard but I’m so be kind to yourself.

No1worrier · 27/03/2021 12:30

@Mummabear40 that's amazing, you must be so relieved x

No1worrier · 27/03/2021 13:06

Seems my post with a picture doesn't seem to want to load! I will post again with no picture....

Hope someone can help, I done an HPT and OPK for the first time since my daughter was born. The HPT is totally negative, no hint of a line and the OPK shows a very faint line, also classed as a negative. I'm guessing this a good sign that things are getting back to normal? (Good in a way as it was horrible to see I'm not actually pregnant anymore 😭). Is it true that my body "should" now be building up to ovulate soon?x

Kiki275 · 27/03/2021 13:18

@No1worrier I can only imagine what the negative HPT felt like but I'd say yes, you're in a good position going forward.xx
