So, New Year, New Thread. And the next set of New Babies are arriving! I hope they prove that there can be light at the end of the very dark tunnel we have all had to come through and I hope there are many more babies to come. In the meantime, we're here, as ever, with supportive words, virtual hands to hold and multiple fingers to cross to help everyone through these nerve wracking waits and scans. A more lovely group of ladies you could not wish to find. xxx

Another one wishing BabyBigz and Mrs Bigz all the positive vibes and prayers in the world...

mrsbigz · 14/01/2012 13:10

Still in hospital being monitored. Thanks for all the positive thoughts :) waters definitely gone but must be replenishing ad am keeping having little leaks. Am on antibiotics, plus iron tablets and they're monitoring baby bigz to check he's ok. Will def be here until Monday when I'll see my own consultant and we'll make a plan of action from there. Of no signs of labour startig then cud be allowed home (though that thought scares me a little as ds2 came so quickly and without warning!!) also the ccam element still scares me. But what will be will be I guess - he'll come when he's ready - eek! Ds2 waited 6 days after my waters broke so let's see of we can beat that record this time x

grandj · 14/01/2012 22:06

Goodness - haven't been on for a while. Mrsbigz, I'm so glad to hear that labour is holding off for a bit. I went into early labour with Eliot at 29 weeks after a leak of waters so I really sympathise with how scary it is. He managed to stay put till 37 weeks in the end, I hope you have the same luck. But if he does come early then 30 weeks is a good gestation to have got to.

And kittens, just wanted to say a belated sorry for all you are going through. Life is horrible sometimes. I hope you are coping ok and my fingers are crossed for your treatment.

Love to all. Can't believe Siena is rolling over Natz! Eliot is clearly not an early starter!

Dear Thread friends

I'm reporting back in with the happy news that Charles was born safely and in full health on the 14 of January by planned CS. (During delivery it turned out that he had the cord twice around his neck so would have been an emergency CS if I'd attempted a VB.) We came home from the hospital a few days ago and are enjoying the babymoon and getting to know our little boy. I've updated the list to include Charles.

Mr ghislaine and I can't quite believe we made it. Thanks so much to you all who have travelled with us on this journey.

Oh, and my parents have behaved as predicted - we came home from the hospital, made our own lunch as they'd already eaten, and then I dealt with the laundry while DH cleaned up the kitchen and then made dinner and cleaned up again.... If it wasn't happening in front of my eyes I never would have believed it.

Oh ghislaine (and mr ghislaine!)..Massive huge congratulations on the arrival of precious little Charles. Enjoy your glorious babymoon...it goes so scarily fast.

lots of love xxx

Coffeeandchocolate · 21/01/2012 19:42

Congratulations ghislaine, and mr ghislaine of course! What lovely news, enjoy the precious newborn cuddles. Please don't let your parents' behaviour affect you, hard I know but I would just not offer anything to eat and tell them that if they want tea or coffee they can make it themselves, and maybe make you a cuppa as well since they're at it... I hope you are recovering well after your C section. xxxx

NumptyMum · 21/01/2012 21:01

Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Ghislaine and Hello Baby Charles! I'm so glad it all worked out fine, esp wrt the cord wrapped around his neck. I hope you're getting a bit of time to yourselves without parents around now...

Still no news from MrsBigz so I'm hoping it's all going fine and that no news is simply no news... anyway, just to say I'm thinking of you.

I guess Gillian has had her baby now too, hope all's well there also.

Josie is getting big/tall, no more a baby (although she could do with growing her hair a bit - I carried her into softplay the other week and it was only after I paid I realised they'd not charged me for her, thinking she was under 12mo...). She's a very active girl, running, jumping, climbing all over the couch and generally shadowing her big brother. No worries on the heart front! Great to hear updates from all the other babies when they come/when there's time...

xx NM

manitz · 21/01/2012 21:22

happy week old birthday charles. congratulations ghislaine to you both. Cord is scary, glad you went for cs. Hoep you are feeling recovered. Def try not to do too much. FWIW I feel fine 3 months on. x PS Mrs bigz has had her baby he was 3lb and a bit and seemed fine at last looking, just going to catch up on her thread. x

mrsbigz · 21/01/2012 22:15

Hi Ghislaine!!!!! Many congratulations on the birth of Charles :) and hope you are enjoying all the newborn cuddles.
Apologies this is a little short, on m phone as still in UCHL.

I wonder if someone could add baby Callum to the list if thread babies for me - 19/01/2011

he is doing amazingly well, there are no symptoms of his ccam showing (tho will have a ct scan when he's stronger just to check it out). He was only on the ventilator for 12hrs and has been breathing on his own since then.
I've unfortunately got an infection (prob because my waters were give so long) so am on antiB's and am waddling f
around in a bit of pain & missing dh and the boys like crazy :( since yday they've been calling Northampton to see if their scbu has space for Callum but so far no luck - so we'll be down in London til that changes....so feeling a little cut off from everyone, but at the same time very blessed that he is here and ok and that's really all that matters! Will catch up again soon, lots of love to you all and sorry for lack of personals xxxx

ShangriLaLaLa · 21/01/2012 22:23

An oldie here with hope and hugs to everyone but particularly -

A very happy 2nd birthday to our lovely Bella. Who would have thought?

Life is good and it is all so worth it. Love to all

shangrila x

NumptyMum · 21/01/2012 23:01

Mrs Bigz - so no news was NOT no news! I'm very glad to hear that Callum is doing so well; I really hope things improve for you soon and that you can be together as a family again. Thanks so much for the update! Phew.

And to echo Shangrila(lala), Happy Birthday Bella and therefore also to Franklin for tomorrow. 2yo, eh?! Can't believe it. Hope Mishtabel and Lins' families have wonderful days of fun tomorrow...

Cantdothisagain · 22/01/2012 07:54

Congratulations Ghislaine! Lovely news.

And happy 2nd birthday to Bella and Franklin. It has gone so fast.

Kittens, still thinking of you.

ShangriLaLaLa · 22/01/2012 20:03

Silly me, I hadn't realised that the two first thread babies share a birthday!

Happy 2nd Birthday to big boy Franklin too!

My love and best wishes to you all. Kittens, in my thoughts, as always.

NatzCNL · 22/01/2012 23:30

Congratulations on the arrival of Charles, Ghislaine, and Callum, Mrsbigz!!! Such wonderful news that they are both here safely. Fingers crossed you can get transferred soon Mrsbigz xx Ghislaine, I hope your parents start helping you out soon so you can just concentrate on giving your gorgeous little boy all your attention.

Happy birthday to Bella & Franklin.

All good here, Sienna is just so adorable, am totally in love with her as are my girls and Daddy.

Hello to everyone else, sorry for lack of personals, am off to bed as my beautiful little girl has been keeping me up every night since her jabs on Thursday Sad

Coffeeandchocolate · 23/01/2012 08:34

I only have time for a very quick post today, but happy birthday to Bella (2 years, wow) and to Franklin (I lurked for ages before posting in here so I "know" little Franklin too, even if I didn't "talk" to Lins). Hello to everyone else, all well here but I'm back at work and still feel a bit overwhelmed. xxxx

bezzyk · 23/01/2012 09:26

Happy birthday Bella and Franklin! I cannot believe how quickly, and at the same time, how much we've endured together over the last 2 years. I hope you've had a wonderful celebration.

Congrats to the newest thread babies too, Mrsbigz, hope you get to transfer ASAP and as well as huge congrats to ghislaine.

Kittens, as always, thinking of you xxx

cherrybug · 23/01/2012 11:11

Hurrah Ghislaine - congrats to you both! Wonderful to hear Charles is here safe and well. Enjoy these early days and hope your parents start behaving better soon. Sure Charles' newborn loveliness is a great antidote to any parental annoyances.

Great to hear an update MrsBigz, sounds like Callum is doing very well. Really hope you get transferred soon, must be very tough being on your own so far from home. Hope you get rid of the infection soon too.

All well here, Kade is doing great and is a very laid back baby. Which is a wonderful contrast to the manic whirlwind that is DD! Time is flying by and he's into 3-6 month clothes already - a very tall boy!

Coffee - hope you settle into work ok - I found the transition from mat leave to working again hard but then loved the balance.

Hi to everyone else and thoughts to kittens.

katiecubs · 23/01/2012 19:40

Wohoo congratulations Ghislaine on the birth of little Charles!! Hope you are enjoying all the lovely cuddles and getting some rest despite the unhelpful parents!

Happy birthday Bella and Franklin too. I hope you both have lovely days with them Lins and Mishtabel! How time flies!

Kittens how are you doing my love? As some of the others have said, thinking about you as always.

xxxxxxxxxxxx

Havingkittens · 24/01/2012 23:25

Hello, just flying in to say congratulation so Ghislaine and MrsBigz. And of course, Happy Birthday to Bella and Franklin. You lot have all come such a long way.

I am doing sort of ok. Some days better than others. Made more difficult by other family traumas, like my granny's rapidly declining dementia.

Today was a joy too, (I'm being sarcastic, I'm afraid!). I had a hyfosy scan today, which was to see if there is any scarring or tube problems following all my many "procedures" and had my suspicions confirmed that I have scarring/ashermans. I'm really cross because I'd been to the GP twice about 6 months ago to ask to be investigated for this and was pretty much fobbed off or dismissed out of hand. I could've been treated by now, but instead, having just turned 42 I am facing the decision of paying through the nose to have it done privately. The consultant thought it was probably due to the second termination when I had to have an ERPC because they hadn't got everything the first time. This really pisses me off as some of you will remember how traumatic that experience was anyway, without more aftermath. Perhaps this was the reason for the subsequent miscarriages. It's confusing though as the symptoms that cause alarm bells for me only happened after the last ERPC.

I'm sorry, I'm so fed up with the fact that every time I show up on this thread I come with bad news. Why can't I just have some good news for a change Sad.

Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. You are all lovely and I'm pleased that so many of you have your lovely little ones after what you've all been through.

No seen any posts from Mistabel for ages. Hope all's well.

bezzyk · 25/01/2012 09:14

Oh Kittens, I just cannot believe it. How completely frustrating / irritating and downright incompetent. Especially seeing as you had initial suspicions.

I hope you find the strength to carry on, and to be the inspiration you have been to all of us for so long xxx

cherrybug · 25/01/2012 15:45

I'm sorry Kittens. Things have been so very hard for you, I really hope things take a turn for the better very soon. GPs are often so dismissive which is so very frustrating seeing as they are the gatekeepers to the specialists. Thinking of you and hope those bettter days get more frequent.

LittlePoot · 25/01/2012 21:04

Oh good God kittens. I can't believe there's more crap for you to deal with. I hope so much that this is the last piece of the puzzle now and once you're through this then something finally goes right for you. I'm so sorry babe-you don't deserve any of this. I think about you all the time and marvel at how on earth you manage to come through it with any semblance of sanity at all. I just wish there was something I could do other than heart-felt sympathy on here-if you ever think of anything then don't hesitate to ask. Hope the rest of you lovely lot are doing ok. x

MyangelAva · 27/01/2012 21:05

Hello everyone, I'm sorry I went a bit AWOL for the last few months of my pregnancy (head in the sand!) but I just wanted to update on my story and wondered if someone would please add my new baby girl, Isabella to the list?

She was born on 21 Jan 2012 in the early hours after going into labour the night before- the 20th Jan, which happened to be the 1st anniversary of my angel baby, Ava's birth last year (Edwards Syndrome diagnosed at 27 weeks). I am finding this coincidence astonishing and strangely comforting.

The birth was very quick- 4 hours in total, and there was a bit of panic at the end as she seemed to be in distress (which sent me a bit crazy with fear of losing her) but we were all back home by lunchtime and one week on we are doing well. I just can't believe that we actually made it and she's here.

I haven't had chance to read many of the recent posts but just wanted to say thank you to everyone for their support and advice and good luck to mrsbigz and kittens in particular.

Xx

mrsbigz · 27/01/2012 23:38

congrats MyAngelAva on the birth of your little girl - beautiful name, and i'm sorry you had a last minute scare, but so glad you are home as a family.

Kittens - I don't know what on earth i could possibly say that would make you feel any better, i just can not believe with everything that you have been through that something else this gigantic could dump itself at your door :( i truly hope this is the last thing that you have to 'deal with' and that you are able to start coming on here with some positive news - and in the meantime wanted to say that you are an inspiration as you have the strength to keep getting back up and keep going. sending you many hugs and positive thoughts.

Ghislaine - congrats on the safe arrival of Charles!! :)

quick update from me to say that finally on wednesday afternoon i was given word that there was space back in northampton, and hour later (!!?!) Callum and I were in an ambulance headed up the M1. it was almost like going home when we reached the SCBU there (as had been there with DS2) and I was happy to find someone i knew was looking after Callum on his first night in there - first night i'd 'technically' been away from him as while in the london hospital i made many midddle of the night visits down to his incubator.

he is doing really well, up to full feeds now (expressed milk) and showing no signs of the CCAM (although it is still showing up in his chest xrays - this will be investigated once he gets past the prematurity stage!!)

thanks for all the kind thoughts and words about him - they certainly seem to be working!! not sure yet how long he'll be in the scbu but will keep you updated xx

ghislaine · 29/01/2012 00:05

Congrats to MyangelAva on the arrival of Isabella - how cool to have a palindromic birthdate!

I've updated the list to include Isabella and Mrsbigz's Callum, now tucked up in Northampton.

I see we are getting close to the end of this thread, so whoever starts the new thread, don't forget to post the list!

Kittens, I want to say how sorry I am to hear of the latest obstacle you're facing. Please don't hold back from sharing your news here. I think Helenlouisey had problems with Ashermans? She might be able to help. I'm probably teaching you to suck eggs, but like everyone here, I'm willing you and your OH on and hope that 2012 brings you the best news possible. There's a place on the list reserved for you and your baby.
