Lady Gaga's new vid...

www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQ95z6ywcBY&feature=PlayList&p=C4B9C7326E087E89&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL& index=1

I personally love Lady Gaga, but felt very uncomfortable when this came on the tv today, my little sister was visiting and I had to switch it over. I watched the video online and loved it, but I can't believe they are showing it during the day. The only thing missing from the edited version is the swearing and the close up of her lady bits!

World gone mad

I love it though.

I tried to watch your you tube link but my computer blocked it, as it must be unsuitable for children!

RydellHigh · 15/03/2010 21:38

Oh I see, it probably is! It's called telephone, it might be on the internet. Madness that it's blocked on youtube, yet I've seen it on the music channels 4 times in the past hour. I'm sure the edited version must be on there somewhere, I shall try and find a link.

I don't know what is worse, the product placement or the porn disguised as a music video.

Was it on MTV that you saw it? Was it uncut?

RydellHigh · 15/03/2010 21:44

Yeah, I have seen it on MTV hits, Viva and The Box. Edited version during the day, Uncut after 9. It's all over the channels, apparently MTV have banned it in America but not over here?? Viva premiered it yesterday at quarter to 5 in the afternoon

Children will be watching this! Like you, I don't know what's worse, I don't find the mass murder and poison recipe particularly thrilling. Fine for adults, I am just horrified at the thought of the kids seeing it!

Makes the decision easy then, don't switch on the music channels.

I am actually appalled at that video. It was obviously made so shocking precisely to provoke outrage and controversy.

RydellHigh · 15/03/2010 21:49

Yeah you're right, I think I'll stick to bliss or magic hehe

I agree it was clearly made to provoke, especially given the song is nothing sinister at all, just your average meaningless R&B song.

cluckyduck · 15/03/2010 22:02

I've just this second watched it after Reading a similar thread.

To be honest the product placement and terrible acting/dialogue were what offended me most, but I agree with you that it's unsuitable for any child to see.

RydellHigh · 15/03/2010 22:04

Oh is there another thread about it? I did search to try and make sure I wasn't going over something that had already been done.

Yes, GaGa's 'lines' are just so badly delivered, very cringeworthy.

But the ?Telephone? video isn?t all about sex. Gaga offered details on the clip?s larger meaning, saying she intended the video to be a ?commentary on being overfed communication and advertisements and food in this country.? She added, ?It became about transsexual women at the beginning of the video and making fun of American hallmarks with soda cans and cigarettes and mayonnaise? and revealed she recalls her own mother using soda cans as hair rollers when she was a kid.

According to an interview in the Rolling Stone.

This annoys me more than anything. Dressing this shit up as Art.

MillyR · 15/03/2010 22:10

I assumed most of her audience are children, so it seems weird to make a video that they won't be able to watch.

cluckyduck · 15/03/2010 22:10

I do love the song though

I would like Lady Gaga so much more though if didn't insist in hypo-analysing everything to death, and insisting it's 'art house' it's not love, your dancing in your knickers with Beyonce - deep it ain't.

Mimile · 15/03/2010 22:22

I am no prude, but this vid is obscene, rude, violent and demeaning to women.
At this rate, I will end up locking myself with DD in a nun's retreat if everything continuesgoing downhill like this.
What is wrong with TV and the media? This is no art, just sexed-up rubbish.

I find it demeaning to women. I find it a cheap shot.

Lesbian sex

Full frontal nudity

Murder

Violence

Porn

Why call it art? Why pretend that it is anything other than a deliberate attempt to shock, and get as many hits on youtube as possible.

It is a sign of how desensitised we have become to porn that this is shown on prime time TV.

RedbinDippers · 15/03/2010 22:42

DH loved the lesbian sex so much he's thinking of joining.

In control. No, I don't think so. They are portrayed as cool bitches who don't take no shit from nobody. Violence towards other women is seen as exciting. Men are portrayed as total wankers.

It is cheap and nasty.
