To HATE those fecking "My heart belongs to Grandma" t-shirts?

I love my ILs, I really do. But they arrived this weekend with a t-shirt which says "my heart belongs to grandma" on it for my DS (2). It's going straight in the charity shop bag. Who makes these monstrosities? His heart does not belong to grandma, thank you very much. If it belongs to anyone other than him, it belongs to me, thanks very much!

Ugh, I detest them. My MIL gave us one last year with i (heart) granny on it. Fortunately as it was short sleave and coming into november I just shoved it in the cupboard.

For some reason its more prevalent on boys clothes. Its impossible to get plain boys tops without something scrawled across them

Anything with princess on it.

Is also highly irritating how the boys stuff is all about how naughty/cheeky/messy they are and the girls is all about fluffypink princessyness

I had a 'right, thats it! i'm off to Grandmas' t-shirt for my son which i loved because my mum loved it so much.

My MIL bought my DS1 a T-shirt that says "If you think I'm cute you should see my Auntie" (ie her daughter, my SIL)!

I wouldn't mind so much, but when he was going through a, ahem, less than cute stage, MIL decided he looked like me. As soon as he regained his cuteness, he was "definitely her side of the family" again.

My MIL bought baby DD a Hooters T-shirt. I can't believe they even make these things in infant sizes. DH & I found the whole thing disgusting & offensive.

It will be cermonially burnt.

Well as much as I am not a fan of "I love my mum" T-shits, I will choose them any day rather than the "messy boy arround" or "I am here to cause trouble "ones.

Generally speeking, I do not like slogan clothes anyway.

I suspect that sometimes my DC's heart belong to grandpa - rarely granny as she is quite a bad-tempered old bird at times

I hate the holiday ones, ive been to ? and all i got was this lousy t-shirt, they really rile me

Agree about the awfulness of all these T shirts - as a MIL and GM I would never dream of buying anything about "heart belonging to grandma" and I can't believe grandmas will buy these things. I agree with the OP the child's heart certainly does not "belong to grandma" - I suppose being pedantic it could be said that the baby's heart doesn't "belong" to anyone but if it did it would surely be his/her mom and dad (hopefully anyway!)

I have GC in the middle years age range and T shirts for girls approaching adolescence are awful - "I have attitude" "Little Miss Attitude" etc etc. I am also amazed at slogans on girls PJs for 8 year old "too many parties, too little sleep" "partied out" "girly night in - DVD, nails makeup" etc for 8 year olds. I did mention it to a shop asst in BHS and she agreed with me but said she was not the buyer. I suppose buyers do theri research and can only assume there is a market for these things. Not only is it a misuse of the word "attitude" but it is labelling a young girl as I think supposedly being stroppy. Mind I did have a grin at my dil's nephew who is 16 and was wearing a T shirt saying "I'm up and dressed, what more do you want." Though thinking about it this will only be appreciated by parents of teenagers!

DS#2 has one that said ' Somebody who loves me went to Perth and brought me this t-shirt' and it has pictures of animals on it. Tis quite sweet actually. The 'somebody who loved him' was actually SIL's chap masquerading as a big wooden elephant that lives in SIL's sitting room that she has convinced him travelled the world.

generally i agree that they are awful... apart from the one DS got as a baby that said 'I heart boobies'. I felt that one was particularly good as he seemed to feed constantly!

DD2 had a 'my dad can do anything' t-shirt (it was a boys one really) i bought it for her though and its very apt.Lots of people stopped me to ask where I had bought it from.Also someone bought her a 'my cot , 2am ,bring a bottle' one which i liked (I was a breastfeeder before I get flamed)
One of my DSs bought himself a 'parents for sale' T shirt with an arrow.
Worst ever was one MIL bought for DS ' Things I hate - homework , girls ,YOU !' That went straight in bin!

Also bought a one-yr old's T shirt which just said 'MINE!' on it just as he was going through the stage when everything was 'MINE!!'

oh yes, DS also had the 'Party, 3am, My Crib'... i thought it was very apt as I kept seeing the bakers arrive at the bakery across the road at the 3am nappy change!
