To HATE those fecking "My heart belongs to Grandma" t-shirts?

I love my ILs, I really do. But they arrived this weekend with a t-shirt which says "my heart belongs to grandma" on it for my DS (2). It's going straight in the charity shop bag. Who makes these monstrosities? His heart does not belong to grandma, thank you very much. If it belongs to anyone other than him, it belongs to me, thanks very much!

Jeez. Feel free to add your most hated slogan t-shirts on here too. Feel my pain!

The crocodile t-shirt is very cool.

scottishmummy · 20/10/2009 22:23

i dont buy any slogans t shirts.icky

TheYearOfTheCat · 20/10/2009 22:25

We had a motorhead t shirt for our 18 month old DS - it was his favourite!

M&S is dreadful for slogan t-shirts!

TheHeadlessWombat · 20/10/2009 22:28

Where did you get it from YOTC? I love Motorhead.

chelseamorning · 20/10/2009 22:38

'I'm a cheeky monkey' or anything along those lines. Bloody hate them! Very very tame compared to some others on this thread but my personal hate!

asdx2 · 20/10/2009 22:43

ds had one bought by Daddy that said nought to naughty in 60 seconds which was appropriate at the time

gemmakate · 20/10/2009 22:49

Where can I buy the Santa doesnt exist t-shirt for my DS? I think slogan tees are generally cute and just a bit of fun as long as they are tastefully done (none of the bitch/sexual innuendo type) My Ds has one with "handsome" on and "baby boy" and "No.1 Brother" which I think are great.

BonzoWooOOoohooOOooOOoodah · 20/10/2009 22:50

I agree that most of the slogan Y's are awful - especially the princess/angel/snotty/dirty/insert stereotype here ones but there are a few cool ones. Love the Bob Dylan T.

My DS has been sent an applique T-shirt with "WANTED" on it in Wild-West style lettering. Quite cool I think.

hanaboo · 20/10/2009 22:51

never ever bought one... i hate them... yuk

but....... i DO want that 'spit on that tissue one more time' one.. anyone know where to get it?

i know, i know, i've just done a complete u turn
i still hate all the others though lol

anyhoo, please someone tell me where i can get one

Scrutler · 20/10/2009 22:52

Just a thought about the Santa doesn't exist t-shirts. It is funny but think about slightly older children reading it (say my 6yo) who would read it but still believes in Santa.

scottishmummy · 20/10/2009 22:55

granny bought loads on those i lurv granny t shirts we put them on for her visits and then only used for weaning etc

downbutnotout · 20/10/2009 23:19

I bought one that said "I came down the birth canal and all I got was this stupid t-shirt" for my nephew when he was born. It still makes me laugh now but I might be alone there.

MonstrousMerryHenry · 20/10/2009 23:27

Phew! Was terrified I'd find one of my DS's t-shirts on here, but thankfully not!

I did once see a kid wearing one that said 'Think Happy Thoughts', which I though was rather lovely.

TheYearOfTheCat · 20/10/2009 23:29

The Motorhead t shirt was a hand me down, so sorry, I don't know where it is from - but I adored it!

salbysea · 20/10/2009 23:59

some of you are BU for saying "yes they are all hideous and unfunny, except for the one I bought of course which is hillARRRious!!!"

Tortington · 21/10/2009 00:02

i saw one which said " i cry becuase my mommy hits me"
which i thought was really funny

marenmj · 21/10/2009 00:27

When asked about this or that klutz-related bruise I always say that DH beats me. He argues that it's ok because I'm only with him for the money

You would be surprised at how well that routine works on people.

LittleSilver · 21/10/2009 05:48

The Motorhead one is rom H and M about five years ago.

I know because all 3 DDs have worn it

I hate slogan t-shirts - except my choice obviously of or from Fawcett Society which says "This is what a feminist looks like"

Tee2072 · 21/10/2009 06:45

I like slogan shirts. There, I said it.

Not the ones that are slutty or whatever, that's just ridiculous, but I love my DS' that say things like 'mummy's little prince' etc.

I think they are cute.

And he is.

Oh and Hooters

DragonMamiCooksPotatoes · 21/10/2009 08:11

Thanks Tee. Have been around a while but still haven't managed to learn how to do links.

TheOldestCat · 21/10/2009 08:24

Ah YANBU.

However, I am throwing stones at greenhouses as DD had a mini football kit at six months. It made DH happy! I didn't let her wear it out of the house, mind you.

I love the Bob Dylan vest that someone linked to earlier though adds to wish list for DC due in Feb

bambipie · 21/10/2009 08:25

Never bought one.
Given one that said "i love milk" (which was true) but rather spoilt by the picture of a squirrel holding a bottle. I had just spent 6 months struggling with BF. went in bin!

Also so seen "It's funny till someone gets hurt...then it's hillarious" which I thought was just lovely.

I think there's something nasty about putting children in slogans they can't read / don't understand. Like a kind of 'power' thing, laughing at the child, but oh how funny Mummy and Daddy are.

I have seen a child wearing an 'I'm autistic' t-shirt on the beach (he was) and I thought that was a great idea as it saved much explaining from his parents and meant that no one though he was 'just naughty'.

AngeChica · 21/10/2009 08:40

I get so many hand-me downs for DS that I've virtually got his entire wardrobe from 0 - 4 sorted. Quite a lot of slogan t-shirts and things with "Next" emblazoned on them that I wouldn't buy myself. I'm not precious about it though.

jumpjockey · 21/10/2009 09:02

We got this one for dd as we live in a studenty town where every second person has a Che poster on their wall...

MrsJamin · 21/10/2009 09:07

Today I sent DS to the CMs with a t-shirt saying 'ASBO'. It was a hand-me-down and he is wearing dungarees so you can't read it, in my defence!
As a baby I also put him in a cute organic (so it must be ok) 'Locally produced' babygro. I must say I quite like the "50% mummy 50% daddy" ones too.
But overall YANBU, they are generally tacky rubbish, especially Tesco ones which don't even have proper grammar, that make out that all little boys are terrors and all little girls are manipulative.
