AIBU Books Game Part 4

MoominMymbleandMy · 17/07/2009 19:54

Well, we made it to a fourth thread!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to refuse to read aloud?

am i being unreasonable not to tell my mother that she is in fact my mother?

off to keep hubby company now....

llandb · 21/07/2009 21:47

True, Moomin' and Polly, but in my case it's very special hat for an especially ebullient person!

Moomin! Are you the sister of a hair-sacrificer?

llandb · 21/07/2009 21:49

Polly! Are you a comely young lady who will catch smallpox, or a teenage lad with a wasting disease?b

pollywobbledoodle · 21/07/2009 22:00

dh didn't want my company

llandb i'm neither, i am a middleaged psychiatrist....

pollywobbledoodle · 21/07/2009 22:01

llandb are you in show biz?

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 22:12

That was fast, yes I am, llandb! She dropped me in the coal scuttle and ruined the shape of my nose when I was just a baby. Never mind, it's me who gets to nab Mr Rich, Charming and Handsome from next door. Ha ha!

Oh, and are you on your way to a tea party?

More clues would be appreciated when you have a chance, please, Polly.

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 22:14

Oh, shame on DH, Polly!

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 21/07/2009 22:17

and she is my patient....

what is your one moomin, sounds good...

dh talking footie with his mate...mn far more interesting

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 22:23

It's Little Women, Polly, and anything's more interesting than footie chat!

OP posts:
CJCregg · 21/07/2009 23:42

I am thoroughly lost ... and in the middle of packing ... will be absent for a couple of weeks, unless I can find an Italian internet cafe (or should that be cappuccino?) and check in.

I've only just twigged what a 'hair sacrificer' is, how dumb is that?!

I'll leave you with one more clue to mine of ages back: I'm arranging a the funeral for my dead father, and have found these slightly peculiar people who will really do it in style. I'm not sure how many people will come - don't think Daddy had much of a life, really.

Ciao, tutti!

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 23:51

Have a smashing holiday, CJ! I'll try to think of something with an Italian theme to celebrate your return.

Buon viaggio!

OP posts:
llandb · 22/07/2009 00:04

Have fun, CJ! Have a (insert name of any halfway decent coffee) for me! Think I vaguely remember yours and thought I was being dim for not having spotted the solution in the thread. But nooo, just need clues!

Polly, at least you get out of having to talk footie. I don't think I've read yours, but I want to!

Pretty sure I'm not in show biz. And not on way to tea party. But I kept that poor shopkeeper talking well past his dinner time!

'Night, All!

llandb · 22/07/2009 15:33

Can't remember for sure whether I intend to go to a tea party. I certainly don't know any dormice or sing 'twinkle, twinkle little bat' so it's not that tea party. No, I'm busy talking to the lovely man who owns the hat shop. Apparently it's the perfect hat for me!

MoominMymbleandMy · 22/07/2009 16:16

Afternoon all!

Hmm, are you amusing yourself by testing a foreign phrasebook on the shopkeeper, llandb?

Polly, is this something of a secret?

AIBU to propose to live on my relatives?

OP posts:
llandb · 22/07/2009 17:02

Moomin, does one of them have a hankering after one o' they Ford vans?

Nope, no foreign phrasebook - just general Chatterboxing....

MoominMymbleandMy · 22/07/2009 17:20

Ah, I see. I would watch out for that hat then, llandb. It is not what it seems and could have an unfortunate effect on your social skills.

And yes, well done again, he wants one so he can harangue innocent passers-by with the news they are all miserable, crawling worms, and doomed to burn in hellfire with no butter to soothe the burnt bits!

AIBU to start a club to discourage flirting?

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 22/07/2009 17:24

Moomin, do you by any chance share a room with your sister?

MoominMymbleandMy · 22/07/2009 17:50

Is that a Fur Quit I see before me?! Yes, Treacle, I do happen to share a room with my sister!

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 22/07/2009 17:58

afternoon...dh was piqued that i was quite happy on mn anddecided he wanted to natter after all....watched the inbetweeners later...really funny prog about adolescent lads....nearly passed a little wee

moomin the secret could actually kill my mum she's about a hundred i think and frail in some ways.

others no ideas come to me

(have read little women in the dim and distant..and have no memory of that bit.....my memory for facts of fiction isn't good so why am i on this thread?????)

dd after the computer now....oh for the days when she was computer illiterate

llandb · 22/07/2009 18:00

Mell, Moomin, he'll have to overcome his fear of Ada

Stumped otherwise (and off to rescue neighbours' cat from small person)...

llandb · 22/07/2009 18:12

Not suggesting that you sMell, mind - just that the cat's welfare trumped typesetting caution

MoominMymbleandMy · 22/07/2009 18:13

Polly, (if and when you get hold of the computer again) is your near-centenarian mother living in an institution that's about to close?

llandb, I'd back Flora against Aunt Ada any day!

Treacle, where did you go?

OP posts:
SnowWoman · 22/07/2009 21:27

Hi everyone - glad to see we are still here

Am stumped on all of these, except CJ's, which I think is one of Mary Wesley's, the Poppy Carew one?

AIBU to think that being at university is going to be sooooo exciting?

pollywobbledoodle · 22/07/2009 21:54

moomin i am indeed the psychiatrist from a secret scripture....a very good book until the very end when it gets rather contrived

snowoman, are you a 20's gal about to go up to oxford?

MoominMymbleandMy · 22/07/2009 22:10

Hi Snow, glad you found us! Did you have a good holiday?

You do go in for some real feel-good reads, Polly!

I'm fairly sure llandb's is Mr Chatterbox and I think Treacle has cracked mine but just in case...

...I don't think I am BU. The conduct of some of the other pupils at this school is very unladylike...
