AIBU Books Game Part 4

MoominMymbleandMy · 17/07/2009 19:54

Well, we made it to a fourth thread!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to refuse to read aloud?

OP posts:
llandb · 20/07/2009 13:14

Nope, rhymes with 'pixie'! Not strictly a spy, though I suppose my snooping could annoy.

MoominMymbleandMy · 20/07/2009 16:09

Aha! Can't you bring Bobby with you? I'm sure he'd enjoy himself.

...And now they're taking her away. I'm going to be in so much trouble if I can't get Adelaide back...

OP posts:
llandb · 20/07/2009 16:51

Good idea, Moomin - I, Trixie Belden, may just do as you suggest and then he can cheer us up!

Still stumped over yours despite the biiig clues...

pollywobbledoodle · 20/07/2009 17:48

more clues please!

they are treating me as if i am so delicate, wrapping me up in cotton wool....

MoominMymbleandMy · 20/07/2009 18:23

Hmm, I thought you must be some sort of 'critter', Polly, as you live on the allotment but perhaps I'm on the wrong track if you're being wrapped in cotton wool. OK, I haven't a clue. Help, please.

...They left her at the church porch. We can get her back...Oh no, it's the wrong baby!

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 20/07/2009 18:27

the prince isn't keen on getting married, he'd rather have a gap year but he doesn't want his pocket money stopped

MoominMymbleandMy · 20/07/2009 19:27

Bless me, Polly, you have me utterly stumped. A lot bit more help, please.

...We'll just have to take this baby home instead. Perhaps they won't notice the difference. All babies look the same, don't they...

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 20/07/2009 21:18

am absolutely sure i've never read yours moomin, think it would have stuck in my mind!

the queen is getting fed up now because he's been looking for a bride for a year now...unsuccessfully...so now she's bringing me in to show him...

MoominMymbleandMy · 20/07/2009 23:48

Still not ringing any bells with me, Polly. Another clue or three please?

...They noticed! It was a boy so I suppose it's not surprising. They're making an awful fuss. But they don't know I lost her and I know where she is! She's in the poorhouse in Brighton so Bostock and I can go and get her back...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 21/07/2009 00:19

I have not the faintest idea what any of you are talking about

Black horses, with plumes, I think ...

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 00:34

Blimey, CJ, are you an undertaker?

OP posts:
CJCregg · 21/07/2009 01:04

I'm not, Moomin, no, but I am about to engage the services of one, although he is a bit odd!

Pogleswood · 21/07/2009 11:37

Lots going on here then! Stumped by Polly and CJ - more, more clues please!

Yours is a bit of a strange affair ,isn't it,Moomin?

People are trying to convince me that my wife is having an affair - AIBU to disbelieve them?

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 12:18

Oh very well done, Pogle, I was beginning to fear it was a beekeeper! You're not in Venice, are you?

Still getting nowhere with CJ's and Polly's.

AIBU to enter a shop-bought quiche in the village baking competition?

OP posts:
llandb · 21/07/2009 12:32

Right, well I don't think I've read any of yours!

Except possibly Pogle's - clue, please, Pogle?

llandb · 21/07/2009 12:33

Actually, clues all round, please?

llandb · 21/07/2009 12:43

WIBU to become a professional fruit-picker?

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 12:51

Are you and your colleagues living in two caravans, llandb?

...My successful PR career didn't give me the chance to learn to bake but now I've retired to the Cotswolds I want to make my mark...

OP posts:
llandb · 21/07/2009 13:15

Nope...

... it's because I have a special aptitude for apple-picking. Unlike most people, I don't have to faff about climbing a ladder!

Pogleswood · 21/07/2009 14:05

An aptitude for apple picking?? Yep,more clues all round would be nice! Oh - are you not having problems with ladders because you can fly, llandb?

...They say she is involved with my closest friend...

Pogleswood · 21/07/2009 14:08

And I may be on a roll here - why a quiche,Moomin - wouldn't something with raisens in be more appropriate?

Pogleswood · 21/07/2009 14:12

And on a separate note I can just see myself baffling someone years ahead by saying 'I thought this would turn out to be a beekeeper' about some puzzle no-one knows the answer to!!

pollywobbledoodle · 21/07/2009 14:20

llandb are you a giant?

moomin...sounds like the sort of thing jilly cooper heroine would do(if you have not lost your raisin)

now they are putting me in the princes bed for a trial!!!

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 14:59

Does your unusual attribute mean you have a sideline in washing windows, llandb?

Polly, I'm not sure you're old enough to be reading books like that!

Pogle, yes, I can see the beekeeper becoming Moominfamily language too!

More clues, please. And yes, bang on the nose, Pogle and Polly. Wasn't it a shame some villain exposed my clever ploy by poisoning the quiche?! I suppose it was bad luck for the man who died too.

AIBU to think our parents are so useless they wouldn't notice if one of us disappeared?

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 21/07/2009 15:23

it's all right, they've put plenty of layers on me
