AIBU Books Game Part 4

MoominMymbleandMy · 17/07/2009 19:54

Well, we made it to a fourth thread!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to refuse to read aloud?

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 01/10/2009 14:03

Ah - I have been cheating slightly on the Jasper Ffordes as the library didn't have the first couple of books so I started in the middle.

I was Worrals of the WAAF (from Worrals Carries On) - nothing like a spot of spy-capturing to start the day off with a bang!

...No, she just turned up one day. At first I liked her but now I think there's something strange about her...

More clues please!

llandb · 01/10/2009 14:06

... and I sit on the roof in the evening...

llandb · 01/10/2009 14:51

.. and eat cake...

(But more clues about the jelly-eating monsters and the strange visitor, please?)

pollywobbledoodle · 01/10/2009 18:23

moomin, you are herb!

everybody else nimc please....

(tho it is never unreasonable to hate a houseguest after 48 hours IME)

llandb · 01/10/2009 18:41

Polly! What does 'nimc' mean?

Is it something, something, more clues?

MoominMymbleandMy · 01/10/2009 19:01

Clever Polly gets the Storybook Wolves!

I am still clueless on the other two which is something of a handicap when it comes to compiling end-of-thread lists.

AIBU to think it's high time my sister and brothers stopped all that childish nonsense?

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 01/10/2009 19:03

NIMC means "no ideas, more clues," I'd guess, and are you a hippo, Llandb?

OP posts:
llandb · 01/10/2009 19:20

Oops, read that as 'are you a hippy'

Yep, I'm the hippopotamus who is on the roof, eating cake. Better not eat too much!

Moomin - are you more interested in parties than exploring the back of some old wardrobe?

(And who is Herb?)

llandb · 01/10/2009 19:22
MoominMymbleandMy · 01/10/2009 19:39

Yes! I knew it would lead to trouble in the end and I was right because they've all got themselves killed in a railway accident.

Well done, hippy type person , that was super fast.

AIBU to continue searching for my family?

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 01/10/2009 20:24

Oh dear, clueless as ever! Clues, I need clues!

...There's something a bit spooky about her. And she's taking up all my mum's attention...

pollywobbledoodle · 01/10/2009 20:46

AIBU to leave my daughter with her grandfather while i go to work?

CJCregg · 01/10/2009 21:08

Evening all! NIMC please, and Moomin what was your last one?!

(Absolutely hooked on the Eyre Affair - it keeps distracting me from working, as does this thread ...)

AIBU to find the new girl fascinating?

MoominMymbleandMy · 01/10/2009 21:39

Are you at Kingscote, CJ? And I'm so pleased The Eyre Affair is a hit. When I read it I kept thinking of books that needed to be meddled with - like Little Women.

For my last one, I was being Susan from The Last Battle.

Treacle, do you have a long lost sister?

Polly, I'm in such a state of NIMC that I can't even make a wild stab in the dark!

...Now that I've found these kind people who've given me food and clothes, and want me to stay with them, is it stupid to go on looking?

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 01/10/2009 22:16

it could be for a few years....

pollywobbledoodle · 01/10/2009 22:18

btw she is my niece who i have been bringing up as she is an orphan, not my daughter ....the things that age drives out of your brain!

MoominMymbleandMy · 01/10/2009 22:27

Mountain air is good for children, Polly, and she will have plenty of goats to play with, so YANBU at all!

OP posts:
CJCregg · 01/10/2009 22:58

Grrr ... I was thinking Heidi, too, Moomin, but you beat me to it!

No, I'm not at Kingscote

The new girl has joined halfway through the term. She doesn't know half the syllabus but she's read loads of amazing books and her languages are brilliant. She's full of stories about her incredible life, but I have a sneaking suspicion that she might be making some of them up ...

CJCregg · 01/10/2009 23:00

PS Moomin, what would you have done to Little Women?

steamedtreaclesponge · 01/10/2009 23:03

Yes, she is long-lost Moomin(in the dead sense!)

NIMC for yours though...

AIBU to hate my husband's boss?

MoominMymbleandMy · 01/10/2009 23:38

Eeek, Treacle, not so fast - it might not be the right long lost sister. If it's the one I'm thinking of she went up the mountain to fetch a sheep and never came down again.

Why, CJ, I should have made sure Jo married Laurie and had the money to travel to Europe and have lots of books, not that irritating Amy thing.

And oo-er, CJ, does the new girl feature in lots of travel guides written by her aunt?

...I suppose I don't have any real hope of finding my parents and baby sister. The war's still on and they could be anywhere. Or dead...

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 02/10/2009 10:20

thought you would get me...and indeed you did once i'd got the details correct!

yodel-idl-odel-idl-layaydee to you both!

steamedtreaclesponge · 02/10/2009 10:27

...No, we're not in Wales, and no spiders involved... But we do have a tragic family past and I'm sure this girl is linked to us in some way...

Totally agree about Jo and Laurie. Why didn't they get together? Why? It doesn't make any sense. And Amy is the most boring grown-up person ever.

NIMC please!

llandb · 02/10/2009 12:03

NIMCP!

pollywobbledoodle · 02/10/2009 17:54

cj are you daphne new girl at mallory towers?
