AIBU Books Game Part 4

MoominMymbleandMy · 17/07/2009 19:54

Well, we made it to a fourth thread!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to refuse to read aloud?

Do your useless parents run a boarding school,Moomin?
Otherwise still stuck - yours is particularly baffling,Polly!

...he has always been devoted to her,in a chivalrous way...

pollywobbledoodle · 21/07/2009 15:25

btw it's not actually the princes bed (polly makes up her own lewd story) but a special bed in the palace for the trials...

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 15:28

Oh, breathtakingly fast,Pogle! There's no stopping you today!

Your chum wouldn't happen to be a lad named Lancelot, would he? If so, I'm sorry to say you do need to do a spot of work on your marriage.

Polly, I am baffled, befuddled and bemused. But keep plugging away, please. It sounds fun whatever it is!

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 21/07/2009 15:28

now theres a woman in the bed with me...

pollywobbledoodle · 21/07/2009 15:31

20 months later, they are still putting women in bed with me...they all snore....i'm going to have to have a word with this one

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 15:35

Polly, you minx! You're the pea!

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 21/07/2009 15:41

Oh,Polly,that was clever!

Yes,you are right Moomin,I should have left out 'chivalrous' shouldn't I!

I'm actually right on the parents am I?! Hooray - I thought you were doing this once before so it's been in my mind..

pollywobbledoodle · 21/07/2009 15:42

got me....i love the pea and the princess by mimi grey so much that i bought it for dd before birth...

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 15:51

Yep, the chivalry bit was the clue, but I'm not complaining, Pogle! And you were still super fast with The Time of the Ghost.

Polly, that was so funny, clever and audacious (and minxy). Have a Thread Medal!

AIBU to disrupt the play?

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 21/07/2009 16:04

Haven't we had play disrupting before!? It'll be more Aunts next...
So,are you disrupting the play because you think it's real?

I love The Time of the Ghost..

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 16:12

It's one of my favourites too, Pogle. Diana Wynne Jones is amazing. She makes up her own rules and what an imagination.

No aunts in this one, you'll be delighted to hear.

...I know it's not real. But they're making people think it is, because I've just realised it's supposed to be about us...

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 21/07/2009 16:44

I expect you can't be doing with that,eh?
He is cleverer than he seems, the Duke, isn't he?

I must go,I need to shop,it will be time to cook and I won't have anything - this thread keeps pulling me in

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 16:50

Exactly, Pogle, as if I'd put a babby in a cauldron!

AIBU to think an expedition to borrow a cup of sugar shouldn't have led to jail?

OP posts:
llandb · 21/07/2009 17:41

Not sure I'm old enough to be reading Polly's book, either!

Nope, can't fly, pretty sure I'm not a window-washer, and just ordinary height.

Though possibly wider than I would be if it weren't for all those bandages!

llandb · 21/07/2009 18:54

Still, it's nice that I can reach out my hand, and presto! an apple lands in it.

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 20:03

Baffled, just baffled, llandb!

...Of course, I was framed. All I wanted to do was make my dear old Granny a birthday cake...

OP posts:
llandb · 21/07/2009 20:04

And I'm blue, and accident-prone.

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 20:08

Phew! You have to be Mr Bump!

OP posts:
llandb · 21/07/2009 20:12

Yes! Glad someone 'stumbled' on the answer as I was running out of clues

No idea about Granny's cake - clue, please?

llandb · 21/07/2009 20:12

And now - WIBU to buy a hat?

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 20:22

If it had a live lobster on, then yes, but I doubt it will be that easy.

...And here I am behind bars, convicted of two charges of murder and one of attempted murder. I blame the Press. They blew the whole thing out of proportion...

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 21/07/2009 20:58

llandb...so isaac newton would have been a very wild guess! one always needs a hat when going to a wedding or when disappearing on an adventure thru the back of a gentlemans outfitters...

pollywobbledoodle · 21/07/2009 21:05

moomin are you in the pig penitentiary for crimes against swine?

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/07/2009 21:21

Well done, Polly, I thought you might like that one! The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by A.Wolf was a huge hit here.

Bit chilly for the thong and nipple tassels tonight so we'll let you off. Anyway, I doubt you have any chandeliers left by now .

AIBU to go to bed with a clothes peg on my nose?

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 21/07/2009 21:27

all chandeliers are now on the floor

is the peg because your bedfellow is smelly?
