Following on from yesterday's "shit dog" thread, I've decided that you should buy a dog that SUITS you. Don't come on here saying "I'm a ballet dancer and my DH is a ballet dancer as well adn we have 14 rottweilers with studded collars" because you w...

We chose a labrador.
We live in the cuntry.
We own guns .
We wear Hunter wellies and Barbours on dog walks.

If we'd bought a little fluffy dog it would have been ridiculous.

If you don't suit your dog, maybe we could start a dog swap thread?

Does owning an English Mastiff, a Labrador Cross and a Jack Russell mean that we're completely screwed up? I do have pink Hunters...

Plonker · 17/01/2009 21:59

Righto - who can guess what breed of dog I have ...

I live in a large village, urban but not far from open fields and good walks.
I have wellies.
I have 3 young children.
I work pt.
We are all slightly loopy

What dog have I got ...?

woodstock3 · 18/01/2009 00:21

i live in london, work in the meejah, and the only pair of wellies i own were bought for glastonbury. dh has several pairs of hunters, a gun licence, a landrover and a subscription to The Field.
we own a much loved black labrador (guess who chose him....)
worried: does this mean we have to get another dog now just for me? or does the fact that i quite like gardening and sometimes wear sunglasses on my head qualify me for half shares in the lab?

woodstock3 · 18/01/2009 00:22

oh and plonker..springer? i always wanted a spaniel....

saphron · 18/01/2009 00:59

Dp has leather Hunters, dd (who is 14 and I wasn't impressed with dp for spending that much money on wellies when her feet are still growing!!) has Blue Hunters.
We have 8 dogs and 2 kids
1 Whippet
1 Lurcher
1 Staffie
2 Jack Russells
2 Black Labs
1 Brown Lab
and 2 Springers
A land Rover Discovery (big mistake it keeps breaking down and is only 2 yrs old)
and a Zaffira.
Oh and my wellies, well they cost a £5 from the market,

saphron · 18/01/2009 01:00

Oh and we have guns too. Dp spent the day beating, and I lmao as he got cold.

saphron · 18/01/2009 01:02

no, I forgot Daisy and Butter .. we have 10 dogs

FfreckleFface · 18/01/2009 11:35

Saphron, I am very jealous, and also a little bit in awe. 10 dogs?! I would love the space, but unfortunately we are stretched to the limit with our two.

I love that there is a nice, big, we heart dogs thread in AIBU. It seemed for a while that every other day there was an 'AIBU to say that dog owners should be banned from walking their dogs during daylight hours because my PFB is afraid of dogs, and today had a big screaming fit because there was one on the other side of the road from us' sort of thread, so it is nice for the dog lovers to have a lovely thread like this one.

Plonker · 18/01/2009 15:47

No, not a springer. But that was the other dog that we considered when we got ours

mysterymoniker · 18/01/2009 15:49

setter? pointer?

twoluvlykids · 18/01/2009 15:55

plonker - is it a setter?

twoluvlykids · 18/01/2009 15:56

saphron, i want 10 dogs too...my spaniel is lonely...

Plonker · 18/01/2009 16:06

Ah no, but setters are gorgeous!

'tis a gundog - you're on the right lines

mysterymoniker · 18/01/2009 16:07

weimi?

are we talking HPR type breed or an all rounder?

Plonker · 18/01/2009 16:11

All rounder. Although ours is a little bit dim and doesn't retrieve very much that doesn't include shoes

mysterymoniker · 18/01/2009 16:12

is it a poodle?

not that they are dim!

mysterymoniker · 18/01/2009 16:13

another sort of spaniel - cocker? clumber?

mysterymoniker · 18/01/2009 16:13

neeeeeed to know!

Plonker · 18/01/2009 16:14

Not a poodle or a spaniel

mysterymoniker · 18/01/2009 16:14

lab or retriever then?

Plonker · 18/01/2009 16:17

but which one ...

mysterymoniker · 18/01/2009 16:18

ok I'm opting for a flat coated retriever

(this could go on and on couldn't it . . .!)

Plonker · 18/01/2009 16:20

lol I know, I think that you think we're much more interesting that we actually are

She is a beautiful, soppy, loving and dim Golden Retriever

mysterymoniker · 18/01/2009 16:21

awwwww

she sounds beautiful

Plonker · 18/01/2009 16:24
