We chose a labrador.
We live in the cuntry.
We own guns .
We wear Hunter wellies and Barbours on dog walks.

If we'd bought a little fluffy dog it would have been ridiculous.

If you don't suit your dog, maybe we could start a dog swap thread?

We're a little dual personalitied then I think...we have a beautiful rescue cross breed, we think she is a collie/staffie. We also have a lovely little Westie boy. They are both a little nuts, but very affectionate and a little dim at times!

We live in a small rural/seaside town, but are on the beach or in the forest most weekends and evenings. Neither of us are the hunting/shooting type, although we've been...we're yachties/beach bums I guess! I do own a lovely pair of navy Hunters though..the comfiest wellies I've ever owned.

Cars? A camper van (considering selling as will be neglected as DC 1 is due in August) and an Audi A6 estate...we needed the boot space! (And it is v comfy and economical...)

oh oh - and we have a Landrover. And not a comfy one either, a very tractor-like 20 year old Defender. Just realised my dog is also too posh to be me!

I really want a standard poodle!

Does that make some sort of statement about me???

We used to have a bichon-poo. He was amazing, and didn't shed. He was a rescue. I love dogs, but am scared of rotties (like a phobia type scared)and am allergic to most dogs. Our bichon-poo didn't shed or cause me any breathing problems. Dh would like to get another dog once our 15 year old cat is gone.
He wants to go to the animal shelter and just find one that seems to belong to us.

I read a book about a greyhound rescue, and have wanted one ever since, but not sure if they shed a lot, or if they will agitate my asthma.
We live in in the suburbs, but will be moved to the country before we get another dog. I have health problems and sometimes can't walk due to sciatica and arthritis. Dh has good health. Dh is at work a lot, I am at home all the time.

Dog for us?

gtamom - I was talking to a woman with a retired grey-hound this morning. she said he doesn't shed much - short hair and single coat. they're lovely dogs - but often not that well socialised (she said). her's was friendly as could be with me - and indifferent to the slightly mad pack of labs that were chasing each other round in circles. and terrified of cats apparently. (though some chase them)

I would love a Greyhound, but they are quite big and I do have chickens and a cat, so they won't mix too well.
A whippet might be a comprimise?

We have a Jack Russell, short-haired and short-legged.

We have long hair and medium sized legs.

However, we are generally easy to handle with occasional bouts of very bad attitude.
