Following on from yesterday's "shit dog" thread, I've decided that you should buy a dog that SUITS you. Don't come on here saying "I'm a ballet dancer and my DH is a ballet dancer as well adn we have 14 rottweilers with studded collars" because you w...

We chose a labrador.
We live in the cuntry.
We own guns .
We wear Hunter wellies and Barbours on dog walks.

If we'd bought a little fluffy dog it would have been ridiculous.

If you don't suit your dog, maybe we could start a dog swap thread?

Maybe my dogs say i am confused then, as i have a 2 yr old springer spaniel, a 1yr old Cairn terrier and a 6 month old black lab.

i live in the suburbs in a largish 4 bed semi, with nice big garden and huge park on doorstep.

i'm a midwife by profession but taking a career break to do a job thats more family friendly so i work as a book keeper.

I have 4 children, 12, 7, 3 and 3 months.

oxocube · 12/05/2010 14:09

In town but with woods a blessed 2 minute drive away.
Golden Retriever pup, 2 cats and battered, smelly Peugeot 406. Have wellies but never fired a gun. Wish I looked as good as my dog. She is beautiful

porcamiseria · 12/05/2010 14:13

I live on a council estate
I have a pitbull called saddam

hatwoman · 12/05/2010 14:17

Blimey I'm wondering if my dog (black lab) minds being seen out with me. I lack hunters and barbour and certainly don't have a gun. We live in the country and there are vast numbers of labs, golden retrievers and springers in the village but hunters and barbours are a rare sight. we're much more North Face and Inov8 round here. (plus a few riding boots)

shockers · 12/05/2010 14:27

My dog suits me...rotund, scruffy, dubious parentage, ginger and a coward.

We live in the country but I wear bright green Ikea wellies and drive a Volvo estate.I don't own a gun or a Barbour jacket.

Not really selling dog and I very well am I?

Cretaceous · 12/05/2010 14:31

We got a collie cross from the RSPCA, to suit our active lifestyle... However, I had a nasty accident and wasn't able to walk him for 3 months!?! Wished I'd got a lapdog, as it was so hard to organise his long walks...

AmazingBouncingFerret · 12/05/2010 14:45

I got halfway through this thread before I realised Ive read it before!!

biddysmama · 12/05/2010 16:29

my dad used to live in a one bedroom house...... with a giant shnauzer, his aunty bought it and it out grew her lol

Southwestwhippet · 12/05/2010 16:34

I live in the town but am minutes drive from proper countryside. I wear pink hunters that are covered in mud.

I own two whippets. I reckon I got it right

EricNorthmansmistress · 12/05/2010 18:35

Do you know this thread is 16 months old?

BextheBambi · 12/05/2010 18:46

I used to have a dog, now adopted by my dad, she's a jack russell and is just about as crazy as i am. She's a rescue dog who'd never even seen a park and used to get so excited when i came home she'd wet herself. (not saying that i do that ) She's alot more intelligent than she lets on though. I lived in the suburbs, borderline countryside, amongst the hunter wearing lab ownwers and was extremely proud to be walking my crazy jack russell in my Sweets print wellies with my bright pink hair. We were and still are a right pair.

MamaG · 12/05/2010 18:48

lol at this thread being resurrected

I am uber-cock sometimes

I have a Bulldog, he is like dh and me in so far as he is broad chested and skiny legged.

I still wear pink hunters to walk him though and generally a bodywarmer stuffed to the brim with poo bags and home made liver cake!

Megatron · 12/05/2010 19:03

We have a British Bulldog. He has a permanently pissed off expression. We look exactly alike. Except he's beautiful.

Alouiseg · 12/05/2010 19:07

megatron another Bulldog owner Ours is 6 months old and called Rupert there is a pic of him on my profile, i am deeply and unashamedly in love with him!

Doogle2 · 12/05/2010 20:08

I have a springer cross. People stop and say 'mad dogs' and I reply 'mad family'. Very well suited!

hatwoman · 12/05/2010 20:41

Alouiseq what a gorgeous dog. he looks so completely cuddleable

Alouiseg · 12/05/2010 21:14

Thank you hatwoman he is still very cuddleable despite being 22.5kg already!!!

I need to update the photos!

Rebeccash · 12/05/2010 21:24

I live in a town but with lots of green space in a teeny house which I share with my very sporty 8 year old son and very lazy rhodesian ridgeback. People are scared of her because she is huuuge and has a ridge but she's really really friendly, loves curling up on the sofa and is a scrounger. I do wear wellies but not hunters because I am too poor so have to make do with Asdas finest. Ooh and I don't have a car

herladyshiplovesedward · 12/05/2010 21:26

i never knew dog snobbery existed before!

if so, i would never have given house space to our scruffy mongrel terrier type

we have had her 6 years now though, so probably a bit late to send her back to the rescue and claim she doesn't give the right image!

Ripeberry · 12/05/2010 21:28

If I had a dog, it would have to be like a cat. Is there such a thing? Hardly barks, buries its own waste, lazy

doggydaft · 12/05/2010 21:30

I have a black lab and a springer spaniel. Both working lines. 1DD 10 and 1DS 8. Live on the edge of town, near woods, fields and beach.
Most often to be found wearing purple muck boots and hair covered manky fleece. Don't own a gun or go shooting but both dogs have attended gun dog training. Spaniel not great but lab doing pretty well, she's the smart one.
My dogs are far too good looking for me to look like them

darkandstormy · 12/05/2010 21:36

just like me orthodontically challenged, going senile sweetie loving jr terrier. gorgeous old girl

junglist1 · 12/05/2010 21:37

at pitbull called Saddam that's classic

MammKernow · 12/05/2010 21:46

at doggydaft. My dog is too good looking and too smart to resemble me!

But we do live in the country, sometimes plagued with pheasants, we have 10 chickens, 1 gun, 2 recurve bows (as in 'and arrows'), 2 cats (but soon 3 kittens too) etc. We have a weimaraner the size of a pony.
