I had an appointment on Monday, put on my coat and left didnt check my reflection upon leaving by the door as we were running late.

I spoke to an eldelry lady i knew by the bus stop, the bus driver who I had to explain to repeatedly where was getting off at, a friendly mum I knew from the school run, the receptionist at said appointment, the owner of the business, 3 or 4 people who walked past me smiling at my newborn, the two people I had the appointment with , my own children who were 4 and 6 as well as two more members of staff we passed on our way to the meeting room. And yet no one wanted to tell me I had a CHEESY WOTSIT crisp stuck to my headscarf right next to my mouth the part I wrap under my chin literally 2cm from my mouth if that boldy sticking there. I felt my hijab coming loose so I tucked it a bit more in, sat there smiling and engaging in conversation with two professionals asking me questions and Im rubbing the side of my face until I felt the wotsit and tried to causally use my hand to cover me taking it off and holding it in my hand for the rest of the appointment. Why are people horrible??

Walked into a plate glass window instead of the sliding doors

My late mother was always smartly turned out and took her appearance seriously; gloves and a hat, matching bag with shoes. She was running late one morning and put her hand round the kitchen door to grab her umbrella which hung on its loop from the handle. She was striding out, confidently, when something felt a bit off. She looked down and instead of her umbrella she was proudly wielding a huge novelty multi-coloured feather duster which I had hung on the handle and forgotten about.

I love this

Many years ago I worked on big building sites and was usually the only girl there. One day I got to work, walked through the big site, past all the men hanging around before they got going for the day. I later noticed I'd forgotten to put my skirt on!! I had thick tights on but not so thick that you couldn't see my large knickers through them. I still cringe about it, especially because I actually thought I must have looked great that day because I was getting lots of looks!

I also once opened the door to the postie and didn't realise until after we'd had a quick chat and I'd shut the door that I had one boob literally hanging out of a nursing bra that was unclipped on one side because I was feeding the baby.
That baby is now 17 and we have the same postie. It's never been mentioned.

I cycled all the way to work, went through most of the hospital before taking my cycling helmet o off. Which is put on backwards!! Stupid thing was I thought the buckling bit was a bit strange, figured it was twisted somewhere … I tried it on at home to see what it looked like when I got home and OMG I looked ridiculous!!! 🤯😵

Edited

I wonder if people though it was a clip of some sort, to keep your hijab tidy?

I think posties/delivery people have seen it all. I've answered the door to them so many times in a towel/state of semi-dress, with a face mask on, holding a slightly odd item in my hand as they've interrupted me in another task, eating and/or probably with food round my mouth and in my teeth...

only a slight cringe moment: pet cat was sitting on fence @ cuddle height just adjacent to me getting on bike to leave for work. Kitty stood on her hind legs & lovingly planted her front paws on my throat. I cycled the 2mile to town, find a spot to lock up bike then enter back of shop. Friend/boss starts showing me what she needs me to do glances up to make sure I’m understanding & a broad grin develops on her face, “ have you been talking to your Kitty this morn? You might like to go checkout your muddy neck”. Indeed there were 2 perfect prints of cat paws on my neck 🐾☺️

I prefer what they do here, just leave the parcel on the front step, ring the door bell, take a photo and keave. I think I have 20 photos of my 18-year old cat either lying or sitting behind a parcel.😂 Several where they obviously places the parcel next to her.

Interview for a job I really, really wanted. I hyped myself up to the point of getting overwhelmed and flustered. Was flappy and discombobulated and just all over the place. Was leaving through reception after the whole thing was done, and a kind lady pointed out that my skirt was tucked into my tights/knickers.

Did you get the job?

Tarkan · Yesterday 17:32

I’ve been one of those with undies stuck to Velcro on a coat and only noticing later. Thankfully they were clean pretty ones I guess LOL.

I also once did the school run with leggings on inside out. I only noticed when the label hit my hand as I was walking. I had a long jumper on so did my best to keep pulling that down so they were mostly covered.

A friend’s DH recently borrowed one of her many moisturisers after a shower and didn’t realise for a long time that he had been spending his day completely covered in glitter from it.

NormasArse · Yesterday 17:34

I bumped into a friend as I was coming out of the post office, years ago. It was my finial destination around the village, and I’d been out around an hour.

”Why is there a little blue roller in your fringe?” She asked.

On another occasion, I walked the length of our high street, and called in at the bookshop. I noticed the lady looking at my feet, so I looked down to see I was wearing one brown, Fly boot, and one black riding style boot. They were different lengths, had completely different soles, and one was distressed leather, the other smooth and shiny. I have no idea how I didn’t feel the difference!

MarjorieWestriding · Yesterday 17:37

I'm guessing people didn't notice, or maybe thought it was a funky new design of hijab magnet?

Sorry, bit this made me laugh out loud 😂

I so understand as these type of things always happen to me!

bingobanjo · Yesterday 17:43

I have a blemish that can be misinterpreted as food on my face.

Once in a while a stranger will politely let me know and become very embarrassed and apologetic when I tell them it’s permanent.

I make a point of reassuring them it happens and that I appreciate them letting me know, because I know it’s always said with good intentions. But my point is.. it can absolutely go both ways!

Fleabagpeabag · Yesterday 17:45

Kind man outside station said to me 'you've got something on your coat' . It was a bright green paper tampon wrapper stuck to the bottom of my long fluffy coat. He tried to swipe it away before I could see it.

NotPerfectlyAdverage · Yesterday 17:46

Im sorry OP, but i have laughed at your misfortune. Your hijab isn't very patterned is it? That might explain it. I think you will look back one day and laugh too. Unfortunately before that, there's the waking bolt upright in a cold sweat cringing phase to get through.

Or start wearing wotsit earrings and style it out. No wotsit would escape my mouth to get lost anywhere.

I split my trousers about 8" long when 8 months pregnant. Got the train to London and met my customer for a meeting in Whitehall of all places. I still cringe. No one told my fat pregnant pants was on display.

When I was a toddler, my dad let me put make up on him - one of those little kiddie sets with blue eyeshadow, neon pink blush, etc.

He forgot about it and went to the shop a few hours later, then told my mum when he got home that people had been giving him odd looks. She pointed out that it was probably because he looked like a panto dame 😂

Me and my sister once put rollers in the front of my grandads hair. He then fell asleep in his chair. Twenty minutes into his nap the door went so he got up and answered it still with his rollers in. It was our family priest who tried to take it in his stride and failed. 🤣

And proud of it. Sadly she recently died, but she was such a good cat.

Omg I’m so sorry for laffing but I had the crappest week and this thread has me choking with laughter
thanks everyone and at least I’m not the only one these things happen to 🙈

I had some cargo pants with pockets on the legs. The pockets fastened with velcro. One day I wore them for HOURS before noticing that a pair of knickers was attached to the pocket velcro and was hanging down for all to see. Must have been stuck there in the wash and I never noticed.
