I had an appointment on Monday, put on my coat and left didnt check my reflection upon leaving by the door as we were running late.

I spoke to an eldelry lady i knew by the bus stop, the bus driver who I had to explain to repeatedly where was getting off at, a friendly mum I knew from the school run, the receptionist at said appointment, the owner of the business, 3 or 4 people who walked past me smiling at my newborn, the two people I had the appointment with , my own children who were 4 and 6 as well as two more members of staff we passed on our way to the meeting room. And yet no one wanted to tell me I had a CHEESY WOTSIT crisp stuck to my headscarf right next to my mouth the part I wrap under my chin literally 2cm from my mouth if that boldy sticking there. I felt my hijab coming loose so I tucked it a bit more in, sat there smiling and engaging in conversation with two professionals asking me questions and Im rubbing the side of my face until I felt the wotsit and tried to causally use my hand to cover me taking it off and holding it in my hand for the rest of the appointment. Why are people horrible??

Interview for a job I really, really wanted. I hyped myself up to the point of getting overwhelmed and flustered. Was flappy and discombobulated and just all over the place. Was leaving through reception after the whole thing was done, and a kind lady pointed out that my skirt was tucked into my tights/knickers.

Years ago on a day in the office, I had spoken to several colleagues face to face first thing in the morning, before visiting the bathrooms and noticing in the mirror that I had a lot of flaky remains of a croissant stuck to my jumper!! No one had mentioned it 🤦‍♀️😆

NCOneDayOnly · Yesterday 16:12

If someone had pointed the wotsit out to me, I'd have said (in an offended fashion); 'Yes? It's part of my outfit'😂

I am a journalist and had to interview someone at a bank, many years ago as a junior reporter. Satin shirts were in and I had on a cheap, very slippery one as it was all I could afford. I interviewed this guy at his offices and when it was over, he walked me back through a huge open plan office and let me go down in the lift on my own, which I thought was odd as security was tight and visitors were supposed to be escorted at all times. I assumed he was really busy and turned to look in the lift mirrors to check my appearance, which was when I noticed my very slippery shirt had come undone and I was walking around with my bra and cleavage on display! I know the poor man was probably mortified but I REALLY wish he had told me before I walked through that office. I donated the shirt! It has been 25 years since it happened and I stilll cringe!

My dad put on some jeans from the clean washing basket. He only realised he'd been walking round with a bra hooked to them because my sister and I were prostrate with laughter.

I think it might well be as already mentioned that no one noticed. People have a lot of concerns going on eg Cost of living issues. For instance one friend only noticed I have had a manicure approx 3 weeks since I had it done. People are tied up with their own life.

I stripped down to my bra and pants and had a swim in a loch on a scorching hot summers day. Re-dressed and headed back sans wet bra and knickers. Pass a few other hikers on the way and had my photo taken by a waterfall. Get home, look at the photo and see my knockers on full display through my t-shirt. Might as well have been naked.

Some of my Y10 class kept giggling when I walked past them the other day. I didn’t think much of it until I got home and saw that I’d forgotten to take off the sticker of a bear that my toddler had stuck to my arm before I left for work that morning.

Legoninjago1 · Yesterday 16:21

Not mine, but I remember reading one on here about someone who’d emptied the washing machine with her coat on - then had an entire afternoon out and about, including a doctors appointment. When she got home, she took her coat off and saw one of her g-strings was stuck to a bit of Velcro on her coat…

Seziah · Yesterday 16:21

If you were with a baby or toddler I would assume (rightly or wrongly) that you were running on not much sleep and I wouldn’t want to embarrass you by pointing out something fairly small (like a Wotsit) when you may have already had to change yours or the baby’s clothes that day due to something bigger. I would tell a friend but not a stranger.

One time I had really sore lips, and I thought I would put a new lip balm around the outside edges and particularly the corners where it hurt, thinking I could rub my lips together and it’d just look like shiny moisturiser. Turned out I’d used a surprisingly pigmented red balm, and I got home to find I’d walked home with a big clown smile painted on my face 🤡

Many years ago I worked in London. Walked from Liverpool st to Moorgate and wondered why people were smiling at me more than usual. Looked down to see the buttons on my blouse had popped open so everyone could see my bra! Mortifying 😆. Then there was the time I did a water aerobics class with my swimming costume on inside out…..

I have never in my life noticed if someone has had a manicure done.... (unless it was spectacularly unusual)

I once threw some sunglasses on, walked DD to school then up the hill back home. I noticed a lot more drivers than usual were checking me out, thought I must really be looking good that day.

Got home, glanced in the hallway mirror to see one of my sunglass lenses had fallen out.

Oh this made me giggle, thank you 😂

Oh that's happened to me. I had walked a couple of miles, including through a busy big park and got home to find I only had a lens on one side of my sunglasses. I was amazed that I hadn't noticed, although I have got a lazy left eye with very little vision.

I was in a bathroom showroom one busy Saturday afternoon, choosing tiles for my new bathroom. I had to bend down to pull them up to look at them, then bend again to put them back down. I picked ones I liked, walked through to the office on the opposite side of the showroom, sat there having a conversation about the work then happily wandered out the shop and back to my car on the far side of the car park. Got in the car and realised that the entire front of my shirt was wide open and I’d been walking about and sitting in that meeting with my boobs out. Mortified, and not one person mentioned it. I now will never use a cross-body bag when I have a buttoned top on – I think the strap had popped the buttons when I was bending. Thankfully I had a nice bra on. Disappointingly I didn’t get a discount.

I went for a facial, walked home through my quite bustling London neighbourhood via a couple of food shops, where I had the usual polite exchanges with staff.
Got home and looked in the mirror and the facial had left encrusted product all in my eyebrows.
No one said a thing or even blinked. Which is kind of why I love London.

I once put what I thought was lipstick on whilst on the tube. It was in fact Rimmel concealer 01 fair and went to work. No one told me, I saw it in the mirror mid morning but people were looking at me oddly. Must have looked like Claudia Winkleman on steroids.

I use to work with an absolutely lovely lady who wore the most horrendous makeup. Obviously I never said anything, people probably thought you'd gone for that look on purpose

I had really chapped lips and popped into the Body Shop to get some lip balm. The friendly staff insisted on helping me (which I hate) so I grabbed the first one and checked with the assistant it wasnt tinted. She confirmed it wasn’t.

I applied it liberally all over my lips and round my mouth too. I carried on with my day including an extensive conversation in a camping shop and bumping into an old neighbour. It was only when I went to the loo I realised I had bright red goo smeared all round my mouth. I looked like the Joker on a particularly bad day!

My son has a habit of buying moisturiser and rejecting it. He had some which he discarded pretty much unused so said I could have it. Used it and went to meet my partner, we went out and I then saw my face in the car mirror and it was completely white like face paint. He just hadn't noticed and we'd been out shopping to sainsburys. I looked like a clown!

Ghostofborleyrectory · Yesterday 16:47

I had a beautiful ankle length woolen cardigan. Wore it down the road, people were looking at me, presumed they were admiring the said cardigan. Only when I got to work, was it gleefully mentioned that I had been trailing a black bra, clasp snagged on the bottom of it, the entire way.

First date with someone.

I wear contact lenses and use hydrogen peroxide cleaner. I took the clean lenses out of the case but as I was putting one in, I got a fibre on it. Took it back out, gave it a quick rinse with a bottle of saline and popped it back in. Only I'd picked up the peroxide cleaner not the saline and put neat peroxide in my eye! Gave my eye a good rinse out but it was very sore.

I couldn't put any eye make up on as it was so watery and I had to wear my glasses on the date which magnified my bright red blood shot eye.

There wasn't a second date. I think I scared him off.

I once was rushing out for an early morning work flight. Got to the airport car park and realised I was still in my slippers. Had to walk through the airport, get on the flight, then tube and walk around central London in my smart suit and slippers until I found the nearest shoe shop. Oh how the sales assistants laughed at me in the shop. I'm blushing just remembering it!!

dogsaremybusiness · Yesterday 16:56

Oh, I have a few of these.

We were in a posh hotel, and my Auntie made the long walk to the loos with her 1980's jacket on inside out, shoulder pads on the outside! She was livid!

One day, I was dropping my DD to school in her freshly washed jacket and spotted a pair of knickers stuck to the velcro - they had obviously stuck together in the machine!

One time, my Uncle was asleep and we drew all over his face - a fake moustach etc. He woke up a while later and announced he was popping to the off licence...and we let him go like that 😆

My late mother was always smartly turned out and took her appearance seriously; gloves and a hat, matching bag with shoes. She was running late one morning and put her hand round the kitchen door to grab her umbrella which hung on its loop from the handle. She was striding out, confidently, when something felt a bit off. She looked down and instead of her umbrella she was proudly wielding a huge novelty multi-coloured feather duster which I had hung on the handle and forgotten about.

I'd have cried at the waste of the wotsit.

I went to work wearing my slippers once.

I went to work in odd shoes once. Didn’t notice until I got to work.
