I had an appointment on Monday, put on my coat and left didnt check my reflection upon leaving by the door as we were running late.

I spoke to an eldelry lady i knew by the bus stop, the bus driver who I had to explain to repeatedly where was getting off at, a friendly mum I knew from the school run, the receptionist at said appointment, the owner of the business, 3 or 4 people who walked past me smiling at my newborn, the two people I had the appointment with , my own children who were 4 and 6 as well as two more members of staff we passed on our way to the meeting room. And yet no one wanted to tell me I had a CHEESY WOTSIT crisp stuck to my headscarf right next to my mouth the part I wrap under my chin literally 2cm from my mouth if that boldy sticking there. I felt my hijab coming loose so I tucked it a bit more in, sat there smiling and engaging in conversation with two professionals asking me questions and Im rubbing the side of my face until I felt the wotsit and tried to causally use my hand to cover me taking it off and holding it in my hand for the rest of the appointment. Why are people horrible??

As a man I feel i can't comment on women's appearances. That isn't because of new wokeness, I just get really embarrassed myself that I shouldn't be looking at women. Daft I know.

Can i do it with close friends. I pointed out to a good friend the other day her skirt had ridden up and I could she her drawers. Just not strangers

I had a v v important meeting last week with a social worker, which was 2 hours long. Left appointment looked in the mirror in the car and I had chocolate smeared on my nose from the brownie I'd eaten before the meeting 😥

They’re too polite to say anything

My mum once went out with white eyelashes as she used those double tubed type mascaras and forgot to put on the second coat

As a young mum I did the main supermarket shop one evening using a large rucksack to
carry the heavy stuff home. I was wearing a shortish loose skirt. I hoiked the rucksack up along with the whole of the back of the skirt and walked all the way home - about 500 metres along a busy road - before my horrified husband told me as I entered the house to unload the shopping.

I once walked around all day with bird poo on my head, i went to shops and park. Not one person said a thing. I would always tell someone, I have before.

Dont worry people won’t remember that,it just lives rent free in our heads for a while haha.

I once got up very late for work and threw a dress on, forgot to put any knickers on, and went for the tube.
Got off at Whitechapel and there was a huge gust of warm air from under the train right up my skirt, which flew up and revealed my bum to everyone.

I'm a delivery driver.

One day was an absolute monsoon in the morning. Totally soaked to the skin through coat and a couple of layers.

And then the sun came out and it was amazing, so I removed my coat and jumper and carried on in my t-shirt even though it was also soaking. Figured it'd dry quite quickly anyway.

After about an hour popped into a pub for the loo. Came out and glanced in the mirror. How see-through had my dark pink t-shirt gone????

I was embarrassed just walking back through the pub, let alone the fact I'd been delivering to people's doorsteps in that state!

I'd have cried at the waste of the wotsit.

I went to work wearing my slippers once.

IrradiatedHaggis · Yesterday 15:44

I once threw some sunglasses on, walked DD to school then up the hill back home. I noticed a lot more drivers than usual were checking me out, thought I must really be looking good that day.

Got home, glanced in the hallway mirror to see one of my sunglass lenses had fallen out.

I’m the kind of person who might seriously have just either not seen it at all or thought it was a brooch or something. Not only is my eyesight woeful but I’ve got no idea what’s in fashion from one day to the next. If someone told me wotsit jewellery was the new thing I’d believe them. Don’t worry, OP. People are mainly just going about their business.

amusedbush · Yesterday 15:48

When I was a toddler, my dad let me put make up on him - one of those little kiddie sets with blue eyeshadow, neon pink blush, etc.

He forgot about it and went to the shop a few hours later, then told my mum when he got home that people had been giving him odd looks. She pointed out that it was probably because he looked like a panto dame 😂

Delphiniumandlupins · Yesterday 15:51

I once went to work with my jumper on inside out. We had a staff meeting first thing and I didn't realise until I went to the toilet midmorning. Maybe none of my colleagues had looked at me closely during my presentation!

Frikadelle · Yesterday 15:53

Did you eat the Wotsit OP? I love it when I find a bonus crisp that's managed to fall down my top into my bra.

I’m lol 😂😂

Oh no, that's so unfortunate!

I often bike to work. On one memorable occasion I forgot my work trousers and had to do my whole day in the office in really scraggy leggings. It was so awkward.

Zippidydoodah · Yesterday 15:55

Hahaha! I think people are too scared to mention things like that….in case you put it there on purpose, or something! 😆

Yes this, Brittish people can be a bit funny like that. They don't want to offend !

Once at work in between meetings I rushed to the loo (for a wee, thank goodnesst). I have no idea how it happened but as I thew the toilet paper behind me and into the toilet and quickly pulled up my knickers and trousers, somehow the end of the toilet paper got caught up and I walked into my next meeting with a toilet paper tail hanging out. A lovely colleague told me, and I was mortified.

JanuaryLove · Yesterday 16:08

I put lip liner on, and two dots of blusher. That's it. Didn't blend or add lippy

thecatdidit · Yesterday 16:08

I once went for a pedicure with my linen trousers on inside out. I didn't realise until I went to put something in my pocket as I was leaving afterwards and wondered why I couldn't. Luckily I had driven to the appointment. It was with a new beautician in her home salon, I've never been back.

WannaSweetie · Yesterday 16:10

Not exactly me but I was the cause! Used to kiss my dad on his bald head as I went out the door, lipsticks that went on clear then stained your lips pink were in fashion. He was mortified one day as one of his gym buddies asked him if he’d got ringworm💋 😆😆

namechangefor2mins · Yesterday 16:10

When I got married, it had been raining, the slope from the church to the pavement was wet and grubby so my mum asked my dad to hold my dress up at the back - meaning, ensure it clears the ground. So bride and groom first, my dad slightly behind and to the side of me and the rest of the congregation behind us. My dad was basically chatting and waving at people whilst holding my dress and the tulle underskirt completely aloft. I was trying not to slip, keep smiling, hold a bouquet in one hand while frantically trying to feel around the back for the dress around my knicker area to check I was covered enough whilst saying, Dad, not too high, Dad, not too high!!!!

momtoboys · Yesterday 16:11

I'm sorry! Maybe they thought it was a new trend!

LancashireButterPie · Yesterday 16:11

Agree with PP that so many influencer type people wear microphones these days they might have thought it was that.

Otherwise they've put it down to baby brain.

I think the worst I've done was finding a worn popsock hanging out of my jeans back pocket and realising it had been there all day.
