I had an appointment on Monday, put on my coat and left didnt check my reflection upon leaving by the door as we were running late.

I spoke to an eldelry lady i knew by the bus stop, the bus driver who I had to explain to repeatedly where was getting off at, a friendly mum I knew from the school run, the receptionist at said appointment, the owner of the business, 3 or 4 people who walked past me smiling at my newborn, the two people I had the appointment with , my own children who were 4 and 6 as well as two more members of staff we passed on our way to the meeting room. And yet no one wanted to tell me I had a CHEESY WOTSIT crisp stuck to my headscarf right next to my mouth the part I wrap under my chin literally 2cm from my mouth if that boldy sticking there. I felt my hijab coming loose so I tucked it a bit more in, sat there smiling and engaging in conversation with two professionals asking me questions and Im rubbing the side of my face until I felt the wotsit and tried to causally use my hand to cover me taking it off and holding it in my hand for the rest of the appointment. Why are people horrible??

Oh no ! i don't think people are horrible they maybe just didn't notice

PingPong91 · Yesterday 15:02

aww OP i'm sorry! It's honestly possible people weren't being horrible and just genuinely hadn't noticed - people are often a lot more distracted and oblivious than we think.

In any event it's not something to fret about, just a minor hiccup, please don't worry about it.

It also might be that they didn't want to be the the one to draw your attention to it because then they were being embarrassed on your behalf. They might have been hoping it would fall off before you realised.
When I was younger, this would have been me.

DearlyDiego · Yesterday 15:03

Maybe they thought it was a snack for later?

I'd tell someone if they had food in their teeth, a hole in their trousers or toilet paper stuck to their shoe. I don't think "do you know you have a wotsit on your scarf?" is in that same realm. Doesn't make me horrible because at a certain point, it's verging on rude to point out such a 'flaw'.

randomchap · Yesterday 15:04

Maybe everyone thought you were saving it for later?

If it makes you feel better, many years ago the sunroof of my car started leaking and water poured onto my crotch. Had to go to a job interview looking like I was incontinent.

We've all had horrendously embarrassing moments, and the only person who remembers them

KayFabe · Yesterday 15:05

Maybe people thought it was a brooch?

StormGazing · Yesterday 15:05

I cycled all the way to work, went through most of the hospital before taking my cycling helmet o off. Which is put on backwards!! Stupid thing was I thought the buckling bit was a bit strange, figured it was twisted somewhere … I tried it on at home to see what it looked like when I got home and OMG I looked ridiculous!!! 🤯😵

Same. I was like wait ....whats that and was perplexed how it survived the wash and dried on my scarf.....
It was literally sat there on my chin 😑 all the way from the house to the bus stop, the bus journey, the walk to the appointment and the fact i had talked and smiled and exchanged pleasantries with several friendly people I wasnt amused.....

I once put what I thought was lipstick on whilst on the tube. It was in fact Rimmel concealer 01 fair and went to work. No one told me, I saw it in the mirror mid morning but people were looking at me oddly. Must have looked like Claudia Winkleman on steroids.

All you needed was thick black eye liner and a long fringe to complete the look haha

Oh no, I'm so sorry this happened but the way you wrote your OP made me laugh.

I swear I would have told you, although undoubtedly Id have said something stupid like "Are you saving that for later?" And then I'd have been cringing myself for being such a nob for the next 3 days instead of just saying 'you've got a crisp stuck on your scarf' like a normal human.

At least you've come away with a story x

Maybe they thought it was a microphone!

I was walking outside and it was raining. Some drops landed on my head and dripped a bit on my face but I just carried on and forgot about it. Arrived back at house share (this was years ago) chatted to housemates at length, went to shop, came home - looked in the mirror and a massive mascara drip had run from eye to chin. I looked like The Crow.

Notbuiltforheat · Yesterday 15:18

I feel for you! I popped home for lunch and then went straight to a sales pitch which went fine until I caught sight of a single baked bean welded to a button on my white blouse. It put me off my stride and I flicked it away.

Oops. I had a makeup malfunction once when I got distracted getting ready. Commuted to my office in London, said good morning to colleagues, did some work. Half an hour later went to the loo and saw myself in the mirror. I had applied blobs of foundation to my cheeks, nose, forehead and chin and then left the house without blending. My cheeks are burning just remembering.

I've twice been stopped by a kindly fellow commuter telling me my dress was tucked up in my tights or rucksack (bum on display) which was embarrassing but I would always rather be told!

Pumpkinsaregrowingnicely · Yesterday 15:28

Orange IS an autumnal colour op. Maybe the start of a new trend..

I've just cried with laughter!! Thank you, I needed that.
