What would the Left call the Right, if the small boat people were white?

I'll start by saying, I am very anti open boarders, and I am horrified that so many illegal immigrants are arriving every day. But for me, it has absolutely nothing to do with skin colour, it is more to do with :

ONE) They have no documentation, and we have no idea if they have criminal backgrounds

TWO) They tend to come from cultures where women are not respected

THREE) They often come from places where rape is not a crime

FOUR) They cannot work, and it is costing Millions to house, feed and clothe them

FIVE) We are granting asylum to some people who should never get it - like the Hamas bodyguard we heard of yesterday

Lots of valid reasons I feel, however, for me, it has nothing to do with skin colour. If I had to be locked in a room overnight with a white man from a backward culture, or a black man from the UK, I would choose the latter, every single time.

It isn't colour, it's culture

But I see that people on the Far Left just scream "Racist" to anyone who opposes illegal immigration. What would they scream, if all the small boats were full of white men? And would people still march for England?

internationally across a lot of countries rape is under reported and under prosecuted for a whole raft of reasons.

it’s not legal anywhere I am aware of but the English definition of rape covers situations (eg rape within marriage) which are commonly legal in other jurisdictions.

many women do have concerns about men who are used to seeing women as inferior and acting on this presumption coming to the uk. Harrasment of women in public places is a known issue in many countries and English women who choose to not go to these countries don’t want the harassment to come here.

we get enough shit from English men.

I think we have to recognise as well, that men that come here from countries where women are covered from head to toe, must get a huge shock when they see women dressed in next to nothing, walking down city centre streets drunk. They will be seeing, legs, cleavage etc, that they have never seen before. Add to that, the fact that they haven't had sex before, or have certainly not had sex for a long time, and I think this is a recipe for disaster.

You do realise that even in gasp Muslim majority countries they do have media, and the internet, right?! Plus as everyone on the right loves pointing out, they’ve passed through many other European countries (many of which are much less prudish than us!) on the way to the UK. It’s not like they’re having a sexual revelation on the streets of Dover. Tell me you’ve never spent a lot of time with people from these ‘threatening’ cultures without telling me…

we have done our bit

Nowhere near.

Kittybakes89 · 29/09/2026 14:05

Would white people ever have to arrive by boat? If war impacts white people the response is usually very different from the UK.

Blondiebeachbabe · 29/09/2026 13:58

Less than our fair share? Let me guess, you are pro immigration, but have never housed an asylum seeker?

I'm stating a fact.

TheSmallAssassin · 29/09/2026 14:07

Mouldemort · 29/09/2026 14:00

It's definitely racism, but sure - xenophobia against white people from poor countries is also prevalent.

In answer to your points

  1. Asylum seekers are no more likely to commit crime than anyone. Those protesting against them - 40% at least have domestic violence convictions.
  2. See above. It's those opposing the asylum seekers who have form for the abuse of women, not the asylum seekers.
  3. Again, they are not committing any more crime than the native population and absolutely less than those opposing them.
  4. They cannot work because we won't let them work. They are paid £5 a day. If we let them work, let many countries do, that problem would disappear.
  5. See 1. Any group of people have bad people in them, asylum seekers are much less likely to have committed crime than those opposing them.

Asylum seekers are a small proportion of immigrants, immigration and net migration have both gone down even taking into account changes of counting, and yet people are shrieking more about asylum seekers than ever. It's almost as if it's a racist moral panic. The people most opposed to migration come from areas where there are close to zero migrants.

Thank you for this rational, fact based post.

Mouldemort · 29/09/2026 14:08

The number of useful idiots pointing at poor people seeking a better life because wealthy grifters have told them too is appalling.

Your enemies aren't asylum seekers, they are convicted crypto billionaires, dodgy politicians taking huge backhanders, kidnappers in black shorts burning down houses and right-wing media barons concerned about their wealth.

Let the scales fall from your eyes and see who your real enemies are.

KnorRoar · 29/09/2026 14:09

We have this conversation again and again and again on MN. Same people pro and same people against. Does per capita not mean anything?

We already take less than our fair share of asylum seekers and refugees. Or are you one of those who thinks we're in some way way special because we're an island and our obligation should be less?

Who decides on the "share" The vast majority of the population of this country have said no to more legal/illegal migration. What figure some unelected body decides is nonsense. Our resources are for those here. We spend enough of the tax payers money on ridiculous foreign aid batshit ideas.
Other than natural disasters it is time to halt dishing out money to ever hand that is held out, no matter what some bloke from the arse end of nowhere says.

If you take a look at the figures you will see that we are nowhere near the top of the lists in terms of offering asylum. Please point me to where I made reference to "what some unelected body decides" or "what some bloke from the arse end of nowhere says".

Catza · 29/09/2026 14:19

You ask what you would be called and I agree with the first poster - xenophobic. Now, this doesn't mean there aren't some very valid points made by people who oppose "small boats". It is more about inference that any person of foreign origin or of a different cultural background is a threat. It's about misinformation and bending of facts to suit this narrative. Which is exactly what xenophobia is.

ilovemybabyboysomuch · 29/09/2026 14:20

ImmortalNowBabyDoll · 29/09/2026 13:22

I'd still call you racist, because believing that coming from another culture makes someone an automatic threat is still racist.

Fortunately, asylum seekers are no more likely to commit sexual assault than anyone else - the difference is if the do, you can be sure it's in the papers.

If you are worried about being sexually assaulted, keep away from the white British men opposing the asylum seekers - at least 40% of them have convictions for domestic violence.

Your problem isn't asylum seekers.

StutterGun · 29/09/2026 14:24

I think at this point, we've reached topic saturation point. Regardless of your viewpoint it's irrelevant, as those in power will do what they please. For me, that's the concerning part - where and when does it stop? We have had increasingly totalitarian governments, it's worrying.

Ginmonkeyagain · 29/09/2026 14:25

My white Irish partners parents were economic migrants to England in the sixties and suffered years of prejudice, abuse and police harassment due to their background and assumptions made about the Irish (terrorists, drunkards, taking our jobs, lazy etc.. etc..)

Blondiebeachbabe · 29/09/2026 13:58

Perhaps if we as a nation stopped invading and meddling in these countries for our own ends, they wouldn't need to flee. We absolutely have a responsibility, and if you don't know that, maybe go read a history book. We've been doing it for hundreds of bloody years!

Also I point out this stupidity on every thread, but you can support someone without housing them in your own home. Otherwise I could claim that you don't support cancer patients because you haven't personally trained as a doctor, that you don't support British pensioners because you haven't converted your living room into a day centre, and you dont support homeless war veterans because you haven't put them up in your spare room. See how stupid that sounds?

KnorRoar · 29/09/2026 14:28

Why do people ignore per capita data on nationality and crimes?

Why do people ignore the data from continental Europe where they control by age and gender and they still show elevated crime rates?

Our data in the UK is a bit patchy but trends are there. There's even better data in the EU yet people will just ignore that. Data that controls for age and gender. Data showing that higher crime rates persist even in the next generation and descendants

Did we? When was this? I don't recall the referendum being called.

Our resources are for those here

Except we don't produce enough resources (fuel, food, clothing, all those little unimportant accoutrements) for those here. Which is exactly why "We spend enough of the tax payers money on ridiculous foreign aid batshit ideas". Because without greasing the wheels of international diplomacy - which includes but is not limited to foreign aid and accepting fair numbers of refugees - we'd quickly be up shit creek with no paddle.

Actions 100,200, even 10,20 years ago aren't reasons to punish the average UK citizen living today who had nothing to do with it.

It’s poor men, and poorly educated men who commit most crimes.

It just happens that a lot of asylum seekers are poor, poorly educated men.

Most go elsewhere, a handful end up here and that number is falling rapidly thanks to the work Keir Starmer and his colleagues put in.

I am 'on the left'. I think the biggest difference between left and right (if you want to simplify it down that much) is that the left just dont care as much about this.

A lot of your five points are at least partially valid (although I think the solutions to them are more nuanced than many of those on the right would argue), but I just think that the problems we face as a society are a lot more to do with other stuff. Wealth hoarding, corruption, lack of respect for the rule of law, simplist populist rabble rousing, international economic factors out of our control.... They are way more important and much more worthy of our time.

why do people persist in this dumb arse comment? When do members of the public ever house homeless strangers? Do you see people taking in looked after children? Homeless people?

anyone who uses that line just exposes themselves as hard of thinking

Cantgetausername87 · 29/09/2026 14:33

I'm more scared of white men to be honest. You do realise we come from a country where women are not respected? You know crimes against women is a national emergency and a bit of a news flash - the perpetrators are not all immigrants. It's happening in homes across the country by white men with good jobs.
