To be shocked to read on reddit threads discussing andy carrol the many reports of women sexually assaulting men

To think It was really sad to read so many posts where men detail unwilling sex or waking up to sex acts etc. All saying no one takes this seriously and the impact its had on them.

Is this widely known?

Do we need to be talking about women gaining consent from men more .

OP posts:

I dont think it makes that implication at all - its specifying the reddit subthread

Well, I took it to mean he was sexually assaulted by a woman (as I've not seen the story). So you think wrong.

UniquePinkSwan · 28/09/2026 08:23

Imagine if the genders were reversed and no one was believing the woman…

I knew Mumsnet hated men but this is truly bad

I think the difference is men assaulting women is actually very common place. Women assaulting men is much rarer.
A women isnt really is a position to physically intimidate/overpower a man anyway so how would they even do it? Surely the man would just shove them aside and walk off?

Do you think sexual assault and abuse usually relies on the physical overpowering of the victim?

FeistyFrankie · 29/09/2026 10:44

OP I agree with you. Just speaking anecdotally but I have male friends who have been assaulted by women. Often in similar circumstances to how women get assaulted - too much drink, with a friend, and they got taken advantage of etc.

What's interesting to me is that these men don't view it as assault. They will describe what happened, how they felt afterwards and so on - and then blame themselves, but they rarely say "she took advantage/I didn't consent so therefore it's xyz".

Imo there is a massive underreporting of male sexual assault (perpetrated by both other men, and women) and this is why the figures skew so heavily towards men - statistically at any rate - presenting as more likely to commit these kind of crimes.

A deeply unpopular view, but one that I believe we will be talking about more and more as more men speak up about their experiences.

Tbh yes
Or the threat of violence at least

It really doesn't. That belief is part of why we have such low conviction results generally.

I think it probably has more to do with the fact it’s a difficult thing to prove

It's easier to prove when you have been physically overwhelmed than when you have not.

If you’re a man being groped in a nightclub you can’t just “shove them off”. You’d be accused of assault and thrown out. You have to be incredibly careful not not react in a way that could be seen as physical. You’ll always be seen as the aggressor if you do

My ds told the bouncers who found the girl and kicked her out. This only happended the first time a girl groped him. They made her apologise and kicked her and friends out.

Other times he was very drunk, everything was blurry and he wasn't sure who did it. And sometimes it was also outside on the walk home.

Despite not being sure who did it - the club still kicked out girls? Because that’s what you said up thread. That on multiple occasions he had told security he’d been smacked and the girl had been kicked out @Jnu

Yeah that wasn't exactly accurate. Only the first time he told security and they found her on CCTV, kicked her out. They had the video of her doing it and then once they found her they kicked her out.

The other times it was in final year and well he just didn't bother. But I assume had he been going around touching girls bottoms he'd have been kicked out and reported to the police.

My ds has been SAed by girls at uni. Slapping and pinching his bum in clubs. He's reported them and got them kicked out.

So to be clear - you were bull shitting when you made out it was multiple occasions that he’s got girls kicked out of clubs

It was… Once

Pattestingtoday · 29/09/2026 14:19

Jnu · 27/09/2026 16:32

When my DS first had his bum slapped nearly all the friends said he "should have just enjoyed it" and that he caused too much hassle.

The club in question took what happened seriously. They searched for the girl on CCTV, found her, forced her to apologise. They gave DS the decision if he wanted to call the police. He said no, said all he wanted was an apology and that was that.

So she apologised
and the club then kicked her out
yes?

Yeah I was. I didn't think you'd drill into it TBF.

He's had girls pinch his bum and smack his bum on multiple occasions. The very first time it happened, he turned around, saw who it was, told the bouncer. They security TV found what happened on CCTV and once they found her she was taken to the security room. Made to apologise and then kicked out.

It was a minor thing? He's still had girls slap his bum without his permission multiple times.

Just the very first time this happened, he reported it and got it dealt with very well.

But on this serious thread - you made out that your son had had his bum smacked and the club security had been so responsive that they had kicked out girls on multiple occasions.

That is not minor.

Yes my point is - you said that on multiple times he had reported and the impression given was the clubs took it very serious and kicked out multiple girls.

and that is false. It happened once. These threads aren’t the ones for woolly posts

Yes because it was taken seriously when he reported it and the girl was kicked out

Yes!!! As a one off

but the point is your made it sound like on multiple occasions clubs had been highly response to a man reporting a woman had smacked his bum.

Are you struggling to see how that conveys a picture that is false in your son’s case

A while ago there was a thing about a female teacher raping one of her 14yo student. Comment section was filled with men telling how lucky the14yo was and how they wish their teacher would have raped them and how the 14yo is livign the dream.

And if you read the reddit reactions the men are saying they have been assaulted by women

Assuming Reddit is a realistic representation of society is a bit like saying MN is a realistic representation of society.

It is - massive wealth differences; arguing; sniping; politic spats… i could on

It Is definitely representative I would say of women
