Completely unreasonable things that really piss you off when you’re driving

It can’t just be me surely! I get so angry when:

1. I am in a rush or just want to be home after a long day and people just won’t stop needing to turn right
2. I realise I need to turn around and all of a sudden the world and his uncle are up my arse or trying to leave every junction it would have been good to do a U-ey in.

People not letting others turn out of Junctions

my dad always told me to ‘keep the traffic flowing’ so if I’m driving down a road and a car is wanting to turn onto the road I’m on (if it’s safe to do so) let them go.

Lots of things piss me off but I don’t think I’m unreasonable!
dithering about
doing 40 in a 60 (I know, it’s not a target) but then doing 40 in a 20 😡
no indicators (that includes Audi and BMW drivers!)
inability to be in the right lane
tailgating
inability to drive on a single track road
not saying thanks when I HAVE PULLED IN FOR YOU TO PASS
not saying thanks for any courtesy

People not knowing how to do a zipper merge.

Though I recently learned a trick that will no doubt have other drivers hating my guts if I ever have the nerve to deploy it. Say you're coming up to a roundabout, the left hand lane is queuing but the right hand lane is clear. You want to go left or straight over. You can turn right at the roundabout, and slingshot round. Entirely legal but likely entirely infuriating to everyone else.

Ditto for the roundabout, people who just keep coming up to my right side who I need to give way to.

Also, I know you said 'unreasonable' wishes, but I have started beeping people who don't indicate at roundabouts.

But it's not keeping the traffic flowing if you're constantly stopping to let people out?

People who indicate either when they're already in a right turn only lane or when they're already half way round the bend.
But definitely preferable to not indicating at all.

Slow, dithering drivers

The idiots who carry on doing the same constant speed completely ignoring all the different speed limit signs they pass, i.e. they do the same 35 in 20/30/40 and 60 speed limits - completely oblivious.

Those who don't notice road signs nor road markings and are then surprised at reaching a junction in the wrong lane, at the wrong speed, etc.

Those who have no regard for anyone else when they suddenly decide they need to turn around and do a three point turn or block a junction with no regard to other drivers they're inconveniencing, when they should just wait for a proper gap or better still, turn off the road and rejoin at a different junction or turn around in a quieter street.

Yeah I actually find it really annoying if I am behind someone who keeps doing this. Fair enough if in traffic but the other day there was no one behind me and someone kept letting people out and it was really quite dangerous

Drivers constantly braking because they can't judge speed and distance, making you brake.

Lane management drives me bonkers. I know there is a lorry visible in the far distance but you won’t be overtaking it for at least 5 minutes. Stay left until you need to overtake it.

Also driving too close. That’s whats causing the phantom stopping. Amplification breaking - the driver behind has to stop more quickly, repeated until the later drivers end up not moving .

Surely everyone knows you could do that in theory but wouldn't be such an arse as to actually do it?

Another one - stopping and waiting for something to come round the roundabout rather than changing gear and keeping up with the flow when there's time to go.

I spot them waiting and flash early rather than coming to a stop. The traffic flow continues on my side as well as theirs

Traffic lights that like to turn red as I approach.

Tourists.

People who abandon their car rather than parking in a safe and legal place.

Other cars daring to use the roads when I wish to drive on them unimpeded

Fog lights on when it’s not foggy.

Or no lights on early mornings when everyone else has theirs on.

That's fair enough if the road behind you is empty, they see you and are turning left I suppose.
What I do hate is when people do this when you want to turn right and they haven't noticed all the traffic travelling in the other direction!

When you're waiting to turn right and there's a full lane of traffic to cross, so you wait, and then yay, there's a nice big gap! And then the last person in the traffic slows down to let you go, making it take longer until you can turn, slows them down, and would have been totally unneccessary if only they'd checked their mirrors.

People who come to a stop just to turn left, forcing me to brake behind them. People outside the school on my drive home, who park on a double yellow, taking up an entire lane, so two way traffic has to somehow fit in one lane. Bus drivers that just park diagonally at a bus-stop effectively blocking all traffic. That person who drove in front of me at 18 mph down a 30mph road, and then kept repeatedly breaking such that I almost drove into the back of them -I had to enter a car park just so that I could drive around into the next exit to get away…

People changing lanes at the last minute because they realise they need to get off motorway exit. So fucking dangerous.

Near my home, so it’s happened multiple times, I’m waiting to turn right in a ‘waiting to turn right’ box, so not holding up any traffic, and I’ve identified a suitable gap in four cars time, but the fourth car driver decides they’ll do me a good turn, and starts flashing me repeatedly to galvanise me into going before they reach me (quite soon). I always end up jumping to it, even though I would have much preferred to wait and go when I had originally decided I would, at a leisurely pace!
